It’s unrealistic to expect someone “ready made” for you to walk into a situation and everything is perfect. Building with someone is what makes you’re relationship last (in my opinion) I’m gonna give my wife the world, because when I was down she held me up.

I don't think its unrealistic for someone to be ready-made. After a certain age you should be ready-made. Being broke is ok in your 20s but after that you should be focus on yourself until you get to whre you want to be in every area of life at least 80%.

Both of us were in the marching band, but he was also on the football team. My nerdy butt never ratted out his shenanigans, even though I was only known as so-and-so’s sister. Long story short, some kids were clowning the wagon. Game finished late, it was cold, guess who wanted rides? I told my brother if he let them put one sorry toe in the car, I was telling! He wasn’t allowed to let others in the car. They had a long, cold walk home. We were warm in our parent’s beat up old Chevy. They couldn’t appreciate the car in the sunshine, they sure as heck weren’t getting a ride when it was cold.

I had a friend who dumped a guy because his belt buckle didn't match the outfit and she was so embarrassed bla blah bla. As for judging a man on his car? That's so common. It's usually very superficial women who do this. They would be mortified to be seen in certain places or vehicles, etc. It happens. As a woman, I've seen other women ghost men for dumb reasons. I've had friends try to discourage me from dating my husband because he was a medical intern when we started dating, had very little money, took public transport, didn't have much time to bother with his appearance and his biggest crime according to them was he's short lol. I'm also short so I don't care but they did.

She let it be known from pretty early on that she understood relationships are a team effort. She literally came through the door expressing her desire to contribute and fully participate in this relationship. That was decades ago, and her resolve has never changed.
She continues to show me she’s in this for me, just as much as I am for her. How can you not fall in love with someone like that? It’s why to this day she can have literally anything in this world she wants.
If anything were to happen to me, she is set for life. My efforts over the years ensure that she’s taken care of, 30, 40 years from now, til the end of her days. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

He planned us a great hang out weekend and we did it all in his little work truck. He told me it was so nice to go out and not have to be concerned about impressing a superficial chick worried about how his old dusty work vehicle looked like. He's saving to build his house to own outright. No mortgage. Already owns land. Said he's not buying a new car and getting in debt to impress nice ladies he's never gonna marry. That money can go towards his business or his savings. Made sense to me.
It made me sad though. I could tell it bothered him. We've been friends 25 years. I see why some good men ghost sisters and play games. We don't be focused on the long term.

I was amongst the first to marry at age 25 and frankly they started doing me the favor of distancing themselves and excluding me from social events and the like many years ago since the time I got married. Sure, in the beginning it was confusing, disappointing, and a little hurtful that these so-called friends of which some were even my bridesmaids began to basically gossip, assume, and slander me behind my back but I've most certainly began to see things clearly over the years from that point onward. So in essence what I'm referencing is during the time that we used to socialize more frequently and over the years when in passing I would hear some of the conversations they will stir up and it just took me aback that they still thought the way that they did when we were in our twenties versus being in our 40s now. There's still the possibility of seeing these same group of women being that we know each other from childhood and attend some of the same social/cultural functions. Though they have since married and now have families of their own, and their approach towards me may have changed now from the cold shoulder to being more cordial for one reason or another, I feel that their aura towards me remain but again I'd since realized years back that I outgrew them and came to terms with the fact that what I thought was a friendship was something different or turned to something different over time.

I’ve seen this in too many women. When my hubby and I went on our first date, he was driving an old Honda Civic that was in an accident a couple of months before. I remember getting in and at one point it was acting like it was going to cut off. I told him if it cuts off I will guide the car but he has to push 😂. We still get a laugh about that now after our 15 years of marriage (with 4 kids). He’s also shorter than me (but most people are). I see women putting so much importance on things that don’t matter. I would have missed out on one of the best thinks to happen in my life. He is just amazing and we are blessed to call him my husband. Sorry I get mushy talking about him. I pray people start to put more important on substance and coming together to build a solid family. We are meant to complement each other not to compete against each other.

That's beautiful. You both are blessed to have each other. Big props to you both for seeing each others potential. I see 4 children that won't become statistics. 💪🏾👍🏾🙏🏾👏🏾

That was a blessing. Somebody that only cared about materialthings will leave for the first person with more material things. Like a person that only likes someone for looks, we all age and our looks fade. Focus on personality and interests.... celebrating our 25th anniversary in a few weeks

Ever heard the story of the girl who found a guy that met the perfect guy but he wasn’t ambitious enough to get ahead and make her life better ? She dumps him only to find out he was living off a trust fund and lived frugally till he found a girl that loved him not his money.

this is a strategy mom's tell their kids to try.
fails every time cause women be looking for security so you're basically sabotaging yourself by acting poor.
the only way to win is to have money, show it, but don't let women touch any of it.

I'm still looking...sometimes it seems like we should tell them. I keep finding out I can't trust my own judgement.
