I'm trying to like it but it's impossible... I lived through Geoff's peak, I heard him sing in plenitude, at the top of his capability, a man, he was so out of this world, that it hurts me to hear him having so many problems. I also don't like at all the look and feel of his band, this emo-looking guys, with not so tight sound, the guy in the Flying V is mimicking the off deep voice at the chorus in The Whisper, you can clearly see he arrives late at 12:24... he is still singing the previous line of the chorus and comes in late with the "don't be afraid" line, the drummer sounds as a half assed Scott Rockenfield... I mean, I hate to be picky, but don't like it... Queesryche was one of the greatest bands in my life growing up, hearing Geoff sing live Take Hold Of The Flame in Tokyo is to this day, one of the best performances by a heavy metal singer in history, the band sounded amazing up until and including Promised Land, and to watch and hear this... it sounds like a so and so Queensryche cover band... I'm trying but it's impossible... sorry.
No way that Geoff could hold that range after so many tours and shows. Bruce can do it because Maiden does not play the amount of shows QR/Geoff Tate do and even he isn't as good as he once was. Age catches us all and if we expect Geoff to hit Queen Of the Ryche like he did back then, maybe we are the problem.
@@paulcarlin5181 I'm not 100% sure the problem with Geoff's singing has to do with many tours and many shows... I've seen and heard enough interviews of himself and his former bandmates, to suspect it has a lot more to do with abuses and excesses of all kind, not taking care of your instrument, and of course, aging, which is inevitable, than anything else. To be honest with you I don't expect him to be eternally in his prime, I have absolutely no problem with people growing older and adapting how they perform to their physical possibilities, nut I think Geoff is not doing that either, he is not trying to adapt the way he sings to his ability today, he is still trying to do it as he did 35 years ago, and trying to mask those notes and places where it's impossible to get. That is why it sounds poor to me. I can think of a couple of examples, Eric Clapton when he did the Unplugged for MTV, that's adapting, not only his singing but the entire song to the new format. Michael Jackson with his dancing... you can actually watch him through the years adapting his moves to his physical capability instead of trying to move like when he was 24... it's impossible, the body is not the same. If you see the dance moves on You Rock My World and compare them to how he moved in Beat It, it's an abyss, and I'm totally on board with that. Sorry for the very long comment. Cheers.
Back when, no doubt, GT was god. The best voice out there. Better than Dickonson, Halford, Dio, name 'em. But whereas those managed to keep their voices, Geoff has lost a lot. It doesn't really matter, we have the records and I would go watch him for old times' sake. Still, to me this sounds more like a QR cover band than anything else. Have a beer and enjoy the nostalgia. They do their best and it's good, but to be brutally honest, I prefer QR with TLT miles over this.
TLT? dude, you are the type that settles for tribute bands over the originals? TLT is a master of karaoke (look at his body of work. it involves replacing established lead singers and doing a good job of imitating whichever singer he is replacing.) Also, TLT relies heavily on backtracks during live performances, which Geoff does not do even in his 60's. So no, I would NEVER prefer a gutted out band with only two secondary members as the leaders of QR. The proof is in the pudding. TLT QR sounds like one of those countless cheesy 80's Queensryche/Iron Maiden imitations, complete with dated riffs, choruses, progressions and worst of all, corny lyrics and overall songwriting themes. A Tate/De Garmo/Rockenfield-less QR is NOT Queensryche. I will take these excellent session players over that pathetic train wreck known as today's Queensryche.

This, is terrible. What’s up with that look? The cheesy jacket, the hat? It’s ODD. The band: Fake drum kit, tired bandmates, and that creepy son-in-law...Geoff, what happened?
Bull shit
He can hit the notes when he wants to. I heard struggles tho for sure. Too much wine and cigarettes geoff. And he's out of shape nowadays
He still kicks ass!
Sad.
This band sucks big time. Why is Geoff constantly changing his lineup.
he is looking for the real deal
He has.........put on a little weight. I know he's in his 60's but dang.
Todd LaTorre is so much better
And you’re so much better at being a douche
He is good but he is only better with his own songs. Queensryche belong to Geoff! Nuf Said!
he should of quit while he was ahead this isnt good
