    Thank you so much for this video! It has helped me a lot. I'm also about to build custom control cables for my R80 project. I'm doing everything for the first time, so videos like yours help me out a ton! Really appreciate all the work you've put into it. Great job and keep up the good work. Cheers - Joshua

    I discovered your build only last week and watched over 40 episodes without breathing. the tech knowledge and attention to detail is amazing. Its probably the best series i have seen so far for a build from ground to top !!!

    I'm learning so much from your build series. I really hope you haven't done irrevocable damage to the m-unit. Even thinking about electrical work gives me panic attacks. The bike is looking incredible mate!

    Bummer about the electrical, but it’s all a learning experience. However, your build is my favorite on YT (inspiring me to do my own build). Keep up the excellent work man. Looking forward to see how you tie in the whole loom together 👍🏼

    First of all i really enjoy your videos🙂 I am building an 84' r100rt to café/bobber. Also using an M-unit. After looking over your electrical i think some of your problem is that with a cdi you only need to complete the circuit and not run 12V like you are now from the ignition output on the M-unit. So I think you need a relay between the M-unit and the ignition itself. A normal 87a relay should do the trick. Hope you understand what I meen. I am sorry for my bad english.

    Hi there,enjoy your makeover it helps me because I am not mechanic. I have a R100rt needing some tlc ,so your site is so helpful..Question do you intend fitting a custom Venhill throttle cable and if so what are the benefits? I am not clear on this, is it brisker acceleration ? , or simply a smoother take up as you accelerate? It would also be a great help if you could please tell me who fabricates some of your smart add ons. I notice you have some nice knurled foot pegs and as anything "custom" these days costs, I don.t know of any companies offering these parts.Cheers, Richard.

      Hi Richard. I needed new throttle cables as I wasn’t using the original throttle pull (and it’s associated switch housing). That, plus new handlebars, meant that the original cables were the wrong size. So. New throttle body and new cables were the way forward. I’m not sure there are any “benefits” other than the cleaner look of the Domino throttle. Which of the add ons do you want to know about? The pegs are off eBay. Just search “cnc foot pegs” and there’s a few on there at a modest price. Cheers and thanks for watching.

    Does the motogadget replace the diode board?a list of components and where to get them would be handy

    • @TheLongWayThereUK
      @TheLongWayThereUK  3 года назад

      Hi Peter - the diode board is part of the charging system and not related to the m-unit. Either keep the existing diode board charging system (including the famous gen light) or replace it all with a modern reg/rec setup. I installed a LiPo battery so went with a reg/rec. I hope that makes sense. I bought mine from revivalcycles.com.

    Hi, first, thank you for your videos! Amazing work. I have a question, I have a BMW R45, what cables do you use for your carbs, I have the same « domino » gaz handle... thank you for your answer

      Hi. I used a Venhill twin throttle cable set and cut them to length.

    did you figure out your wiring issue? I am at about the same point you are. I notice, on the reg/rec diagram from revival they have reg/rec go to AUX instead of the ignition. Then ignition goes to the coil. I am no expert and have not hooked mine up this way yet so I cannot confirm

      Hi Travis. Yes I’m sorted. All will be revealed soon. The jury is still out on the charge circuit for me too.

    Hello, I hope you are doing well. You have been an inspiration to my project. I can't thank you enough for all your videos. I have a couple questions I hope you can help m with. Did you end up installing the Relay for the CDI? If not, have you had any problems? Have you had any problems with the battery after you install the new Reg/Rec? Also, did you do anything to the carbs when you installed the pods? like a re-tune or something? or it was just a plug-and-play? Thank you again for all your help. You can take half the credit for my build lol.

    • @TheLongWayThereUK
      @TheLongWayThereUK  3 года назад +1

      Hey Antonio. I’ve not used any relays in my build whatsoever. All switching is done in the m-unit. The battery requires a bit of looking after to be honest. I connect it to a specialist LiOn trickle charger while it’s fitted to the bike (I’ve not ridden it enough during lockdown to maintain a charge) and I took the battery out of the bike over winter. Re the carbs, I’ve not been happy with my attempts to tune them (I think there’s a vacuum leak somewhere) and they also leak fuel a bit so I’m doing a full strip and rebuild. There will be a video on that soon.

    What model is that battery?

  • @benjalyd
    @benjalyd 5 лет назад

    Maybe you mixed up a plus and minus at the coils, you could get an overload at the m-unit. I don’t think you broke it, it really takes a beating before giving up :)
    Anyways, here’s a link from revival, that helped me when I was trying to figure it out on my R100
