as added security you could wire a fireworks launcher to the siren and load it with flares i believe and when the settlement is attacked and the siren goes of the flare is fired and then youll have added backup come to help in the form of the minutemen
You can put a delayed-off-switch in front of the fireworks mortar. Cut of power after a second and it will only fire one shell. Otherwise it keeps firing.
Lefthandshake Thanks So Much For This Doll. I Finally Know What To Do With This DLC. Your Voice Is Amazing. Very Audiobooky And Relaxing. Very Sexy Indeed. 🔥 Your Accent Is Really Hoy
just came across this and i HAD to use this for my PA garage. i did make a slight change where activating the lockdown kicks the turrets on. but i would never have thought of this. thank you
Firstly, great tutorial. Secondly, I think your NAND gate would be better to be a XOR. With the NAND, flipping the switch after having walked inside will have no effect on the door which someone might desire. With XOR, the switches have to be in opposite positions at any one time to have the door open. A thought for any that might be interested.
Thanks! I've been looking for a tutorial that explains it in a easy way without talking like "OH MY GOD I'M THE HAPPIEST PERSON EVER!!" or talking to the viewer like they're an idiot. I'll check out your other content but if easy to understand tutorials where you don't talk down to your viewers is what you do.. You've definitely earned a subscription from me!
I forgot to add, this works well but the problem is that if the inner switch is off and the outer is on if you try to use the outer switch nothing happens. And that makes it bad in the sense that if you fall out of your settlement you have to use the workshop mode or TCL your way in. :/
I just found this video, looked at your relatively clean setup, then back at my horrible mess of a door. This tutorial may be old now, but it definitely helped me clean up my wiring situation. I had OR gates, AND gates, NOR gates and NAND gates everywhere... so many wires... Thanks for this!
Thanks for the tutorial! Saw a few and yours was the easiest to follow for the gate. I still had to write it down to better understand it though. 1. Pwr + Siren --> Nand (+) 2. Nand ( - ) --> Switch (Master) 3. Switch (Master) --> And (+) 4. Power + Switch (Secondary) --> And (+) 5. And ( - ) --> Gate
Years later this is still helping people, like me, who has been playing for three years but doesn’t run out of ideas because of theses types of videos, you might not see this but, thanks.
Definitely worth subscribing to. Thank you for these. I've had to watch them muted, and even without listening to what you're saying, I still was clearly able to see what you did and understand the logic involved. I've been waiting for videos like these to come around to help me figure out ways to build better settlements.
That's something I'm working on actually! I've done some voice acting for mods. There's a Fallout 4 mod called Tales From The Commonwealth that I worked on.
What a refreshing and well communicated instructional video! Thank you very much. Most video producers assume the viewers all know ALL the gamer abbreviations, terminology or lingo. When they proceed that way, it is like a parent expecting a toddler to climb a flight of stairs with several missing steps. A success principle to which most producers are ignorant. I will now like and subscribe with you because of your pursuit of excellence. Great job!!
1 of the best video guide i came across for 2 way powered door/gate nice and clear explanation compared to another one that kept stumbling and going off track have fun playing around more!
Thank you for a clear and helpful video sorting out those things for me. I have been avoiding them, having no clue how to implement them. Now you have cleared that up I can bolster my settlement defenses nicely.
finally got it working. just a 2 way powered door. From watching this I've managed it. Thanks. all the other videos don't explain it enough. my house looks epic now. :)
+Rhys Jasper That's good. Logic gates are the best way to do it. I made some two-way switch doors before logic gates came out, but they were a bit of a pain to do.
Yeah I came across some older videos just using connectors like I was originally trying to do but they were all glitchy. Now I have logic gates the brain hurt starts and the experiments begins. :p
THANK YOU! I learned a thing! Also, your voice is so soothing and wonderful, I would gladly listen to you read the ingredients on a packet of cereal or instructions on how to program a vcr.
I won't subscribe to you because you have a soothing voice. I'm gonna subscribe to you because you're calm, and your explaining is amazing. And finally a tutorial that I can actually understand ❤❤❤
Thanks for the information, great delivery and content while getting straight to the point. I would have though I'd zone out more, as I usually do with other youtubers who try to explain logic gates. You have a great voice for this sort of thing, keep it up! Oh and for other people trying to do complex logic gates, it really helps if you just map out on paper what you want to do. It helps to get an overall idea of what's going on.
Another way is instead of the AND gate which is Position sensitive you can use the XOR gate which will function similar, XOR gate will transmit power as long as only one input is powered. Basically in simple terms as long as the switches are in opposite positions the door will open which means both sides can work independently of each other and not rely on the other having power. So say a settler comes by and flips the outside switch off with the and gate, even when you flip the switch on your side on the door will not open because the other switch is not powered. With the XOR gate as long as the switches are opposite of each other the door will function which means even if the exterior switch is messed with you still maintain full functionality of the door with the interior switch by reversing its position
Nice work dude! Logic gates are the way in the binary-fallout-electrical-wired-world! I am planing a similar construction for my arena, where the quitting-time-siren starts and the two fighter cells are opening. Perhaps some spotlights turn on to elucidate the fighters and turn of all other lights or shut the windows like in a cinema. And a automatically decontamination shower when somebody walks through (with laser traps). If you find a easy way, thanks.
Lefthandshake my outside switch isn't opening or closing the door but the inside works and I connected the outside to a power source just like yours and to the and gate idk what's wrong plz help
Much appreciated, a well understood video here. ☺️ A better explanation than the other videos around that are stalling or taking time to push for that minimum 10 minute video mark 😒
Nice one, thank you. You explain in clear concise instructions. I was thinking of leaving a small generator outside and when the enemies damage it the door will close, but this is better, I figured it had to have something to do with logic gates.
I've never heard such a unisex sounding voice in all my life. You should seriously consider voice acting, if not professionally, at least for mods. Great tutorial!
....I fell asleep watching this...in a good way, it was 3 am and was tired, and couldn't sleep, relaxing video :D also when I woke up the tutorial was nice as well :D thanks you got a sub
ok btw 33 years old and this confused the fuck out of me... you are really intelligent and this shows when you are able to explain this in a better way then half the adult Tutorial iv checked out.... good on you... maybe look into a future as a teacher.. you are really quite good at explaining things clearly for someone who only just learned this themself..
Great explanation and I've had an idea... When you say you can't use siren/conduit/logic gate, what about siren/logic gate/conduit? If THAT works then maybe it would be possible to have the siren somewhere else in the settlement and still work. Not tried it myself though. And use mats under the conduits so the wires will travel underground and keep a clean look. Hope future vids go well for you 😊
I would go one step further, and hook up the siren to an outside switch, so that you can turn it off, in case you’re locked out. I can see a scenario where the settlers activate the siren, while you’re outside. I admit that’s not highly immersive, as you could argue a Raider could disable the siren, then open the door. But the game Engine won’t do this, so, for practical purposes, it’s fine.
Thank you! Finally I can start use those logic gates, and do actual cool shit with power things in F4! And, btw, i jut noticed that u have OTHERS tutorials on Fallout 4!!!! U just got a new subscriber bro. Keep up the good work!
What a great tutorial, I am putting it in all my settlements, now if only I could work out how to set it all off by tripwire, I have tried but just can't wrap my head around it.
the problem is you can only use this when you don't have other doors. If you left the building through other doors leaving the indoor switch at "off", you can't open the rolling gate from outside again, since the indoor switch is not giving power.
True. But that's kind of the point - it's supposed to be a lockdown. No one comes in, no one goes out. You could always add another door that's not connected to the siren, but if you're going to do that you might as well not bother with the siren in the first place.
You sound exactly the same as my therapist 💕 new sub cause you take the time to explain. Also I've been playing fo4 for 4 years now and I keep learning new things but it really makes you appreciate how cool this game is
wow... thanks for video... there is so much you can do on this game.. I don't think the game could break it all down for you. but I do wish they would have tried just a little... I am new to the game , never heard of it or seen it played ... till now 2021
Having a functional first response alert system could be pretty useful. Especially if a few intruders do actually make it inside. There will be no mercy and no escape for I am judge, jury and executioner. 😏
There is a flaw in the logic here. If I switch the door from inside, I get green (on) opens and red (off) closes. However, leaving the door closed from the inside (off) negates any action from the outside switch, just like the siren does. So the only way the outside switch works is if the inside switch is green (on). Which might be cool if you want the "master of the door" to be inside. But that keep all out when the inside "master" switch is off. I thought the idea would be to be able to open the closed door from outside, regardless of the inside switch position.
All you need is the NAND logic gate to make the 2 way door. If you want the doors to close when the siren is fired up you can rig a logic gate to cut power to the entire building causing the doors to close.
I don't yet have a grasp on it, but I'm getting there, thank you for a clear and simple tutorial!! Bless Bethesda but damn these logic gates there are just too many Ands and Nots, and Not-Ands........Ors..... Exors...... ....and ors-ands......... Mm now I want some Oranges *: ]*
You can put a logic gate so when the siren goes off the door closes and a emergency armoury and armour door opens and the fire stuff launches its high tech well I mean good surcurity the door on works a walled settlement
I know I'm a bit late watching, but this is excellent. I haven't a clue how to start figuring out how these work. A bit like most items in my menu they never get used. I have recently started experimenting with traps which is fun. Great job, subbed to hopefully learn more. Btw cool name 👍👍👍
the gate isn't a gate, it's a logic switch, that's why you have to connect direct if another siren is on the circuit, the connection has to be isolated.
I almost skipped this amazing video because you sound so young! How old are you? O well, that taught me a thing or two. Best video I have seen for powered doors (building in general even) in a while. Thank you. You are so organized, and well spoken.
I knew after a few moments you had to be a girl. Too smart to be a boy... Lmfao. I sound like a lil boy on anything I record... And I'm a 30 year old woman. It's a big reason I haven't tried to make a video myself. Well, that and I always feel that there are better videos explaining the same thing. I hope you weren't offended by my comment. I'm just glad I stayed to see it all. It's (no joke) best I have seen. I hope you keep making them. I'm subbing for sure
Amazing tutorial. Today I was messing with logic gates aswell, Ive come up an idea about, manually opening yet automatically closing gate by using the delayed conduit. But honestly I couldn't make it up. If you have an idea about "how to" bout that, I would be happy thanks.
They're roofs from the warehouse tab. You can use the group select trick using a concrete pillar to sink them into the ground. If you're not familiar with the group select trick, there's a video here that explains it in detail. ruclips.net/video/aDo_BFYMRHE/видео.html
I know this video is dated but it's still informative, I was using another youtubers method which allowed multiple sirens "it used an And, Not, And gate system" but.. it did not allow for an outdoor switch and the only reason I can see an outdoor switch needed is if the settlers trigger the siren while the player is outside of the gate hence the outdoor switch would allow him back in but and I was hoping that this video would solve the problem by keeping the outside switch operational to open the gate but lass it doesn't, once the siren is activated it disables both switches so I honestly I can see no point or reason to have an outside switch as setters AI is not programed to activate it only the player can activate and the gate stays open until the siren is triggered, I can think of no scenario in which an outside switch is needed unless someone can point one out for me that'd be awesome. Using the switch's just for normal gate operation yes... but why? if gate is closed then setters can't access the settlement so gate has to be left open until triggered by siren, I know this because I've been locked out and had to workshop mode to slip through a wall.
Once i connect my outdoor switched pylon to the conduit and then connect my my second conduit to the Input on the AND gate(my first being for the indoor switch to keep it tidy) my output for the and loses power. I have done exactly the same as you have with every step and still cannot prevail.
Okay I've used your video for a looong time now and was wondering if you would be able to expand on it, I'm looking for videos to help me set up sirens, fireworks that sort of shit. Thanks for a great vid! Still used six years later!! 👍
Such a pleasure to hear English spoken without mumbling or swearing. Clear and precise. Thankyou.
Nothus Deus Vagus Thanks!
You're welcome.
not to sound pervish, but U.K. English when spoken by a female and clearly is a turn on for me, dont know why but it is...…

treboR AP917 #latetotheparty
Genius!! Im going for it
treboR AP917 two possible reasons:
1. Heroes always arrive late to save the day
2. A warlock is never late, he arrives exactly when he needs to
You can put a delayed-off-switch in front of the fireworks mortar. Cut of power after a second and it will only fire one shell. Otherwise it keeps firing.
You ware born to make tutorials. You're freaking awesome

Agreed, I no longer feel confused when trying it for myself, Great work, hope to see more.

Thanks for the tutorial. At 6:50, how did you make those ramps going up into your gatehouse?
Informative thank you. And yes you have a lovely voice.
Thank you!! This helped a lot!!
Cool. Glad it helped!
What a beautiful voice 👍
Very well done
Thanks you
Thanks for the tutorial
this one good tutorial! you've won a subscriber ! I'll check your channel to see more interesting stuff like that
So cool, thanks a lot!
unfortuanly on PS4 we can't download a mod that stops settlement attack spawn points inside the settlement! in which case this would of been great!
Yeah, I don't know why they decided to put spawn points inside the build areas. It makes building walls a little redundant.
amazing thanks
Thank u really helped
