Thought this was a strong opener and an awesome start to the series! LOVE this lineup and love thier chemistry already. It’s also fascinating that the subjective task scores from the episode ended up being even, which makes me wonder if this will end up being a really close series.
Great video, Jamie. You look more and more like a professional presenter every time. I loved the premiere and I can’t wait to watch these relationships evolve. Andy is definitely a wild card, I’ve already fallen head over heels for Emma, and as a longtime RJ fan I was chuffed (to borrow an adorable phrase) to see her not only hold her own but take home the victory. Bring on episode two! 🎉
Thank you for this wonderful review. I love hearing other people's opinions on Taskmaster. No one in my friend group watches it so I really appreciate your videos.
same!! I remember back at highschool literally nobody watched it apart from the teachers and theyd get annoyed me wanting to talk to them about it and my english teacher told me, Her, my physics teacher and a bunch of others in the school actually played it for real. This was 4/5/6 years ago now, but never have I been soo annoyed and wished they were creepy teachers inviting students to their home, because id have loved to play that with them. All the kids i went to school with were watching riverdale and 13 reasons why, or love island and that sort of shows, or just like sports, youtube and twitch. I just wanted 1 that watched panel shows or Taskmaster, which is just a panel show with tasks, there a panel of contestants. insted of telling Lies or neverminding the buzzcocks or mocking the weak or leagueing their own, they are tasking the master
Andy zaltsman is great,he has done the bugle for years and it was with john oliver for many years. He also presents the news quiz on radio 4. He is comedic gold. However i think this series is yet to hit its stride.
I thought Emma's bubble bath idea was great as well. Greg's lack of approval was nearly Jeremy Wells-levels of confusing to me. But dang. The can task was so hilarious. I cannot believe how bad everyone on that panel was at throwing. I think the panel is fantastic this year, and Rosie especially had me in stitches multiple times in the first episode. I'm very excited for this season, and for your coverage of it. As always, you do such a phenomenal job with your analysis.
I don’t like winner takes all either. This task wasn’t very good since it mostly involved Alex whispering into someone’s ear. Fortunately Rosie saved it by guessing correctly as soon as she did.
Nobody on the actual official video would answer me, so maybe somebody here will: why do so many people hate Rosie so much that they say they’re not going to watch the entire series? It’s can’t just be her speech issues, right? That would seem incredibly hateful. What is it about her or what has she done in the past that’s making so many people so upset?
Her jokes are not worse than most live at the apollo types but she physically cannot have timing or comedic inflection. So its basic rubbish jokes but screamed slowly and incoherently. It doesn't make her a bad person but it's unwatchable, it makes me anxious in the extreme..if she made an effort to work with her CP she could be extremely funny but that's not what she does
Comedy is very subjective, but one contsant through all types of comedy regardless of language is timing It's not a knock on Rosie that she talks so slowly but if anyone had the choice to watch comedy at the correct tempo or at 25% tempo, only one of them would be funny and enjoyable
It may take more concentrated effort to process what she's saying, but she is funny and a genuinely sweet human. I can understand why the timing aspect might make it difficult for some people to enjoy her humour, but choosing not to watch at all is just ridiculous. I'm sure we all have contestents we haven't enjoyed. We just fast forward their sections and watch the rest if it's that much of a discomfort.
@@stackels97 I wonder how you know she is " genuine" but even more confused as to how that effects if I find them funny or not. Could be you like her for reasons other than her comedy and that's fine too .....odd ,but fine 👍
Her disability robs her of comic timing and you can't be a comedy performer without it. You can have the best material in the world and Rosie Jones is by all accounts a talented comedy writer; without the ability to deliver it properly, it won't work. This problem is compounded by panel shows, which require quick back and forth banter. Rosie destroys the rhythm those shows have and makes it difficult for the other comics on the show. I find it deeply uncomfortable to watch her on such shows because the other comics must be aware that she has no timing and no business being there. It feels patronising, it is way you would treat a 5 year old who delivers a joke badly, not a grown woman.
This is currently the lowest rated Taskmaster episode on IMDB, and honestly I can kinf of see why. Look I wasn't one of those people who went in expecting to hate it just because it has Rosie Jones on it, I was actually looking forward this series but was a bit disappointed by this first episode. It wasn't completely awful, I did quite like the bubble task, but alot of the other parts of the episode were a bit meh to me.
Same here. Nothing against Rosie, but she ain't funny. I tried first episode on mute with subtitles, but she was still very hard to watch. Love Jack Dee but no idea who the other 3 are, so decided to give this season a miss 😊
@@Rockaria23 How can you say 'nothing against Rosie' and follow it with the admission that you watched the episode on mute to avoid listening to her? That's more than not finding her funny. I swear you people need to get over yourselves and stop making your ableism everyone else's problem

Yay you're back, glad to see it!

I liked how distinctive the musical score for this season is.

For the first time ever, i don't have any favourites. I genuinely like all of them the same and not in a bad way
With this video uploaded, it's now officially the start of Autumn!
The prize task felt quite difficult
When the first task of series 18 involves Rosie Jones calling Alex a sneaky bastard you know it’s gonna be a good time.
What do you think of the Australian Ghosts news? I know there's very little information so far, but I'm hopeful!
Very excited!! Definitely will do a video on it when we get more info!

Comment for algorithm. All praise the algorithm.
Greg's grading always irritates me.

I didn't like the first episode, love the show, but not this time.
Below disappointing ⤵️
Gonna be skipping out on this series. Rosie Jones is unwatchable. Shame cos I am a long time Jack Dee fan.
Good news for you - Rosie Jones _isn't_ unwatchable! Lots of people are really enjoying her. Maybe you're the problem.

I could not stand Sam Campbell but I still watched and enjoyed series 16. She's 1/5th of the cast, there's no logic to people saying this
