I agree rendon is a train wreck. He’s soft, has a bad attitude, and you can look up his past comments about not wanting to play forever. He came for arte and his money. Period. Remember when ppl said he was the best 3rd baseman in the league lmao… ahahhahaha. Best laugh of my life. So not Jose Ramirez, not arenado, but tough talking Tony was the best third base lol. Unreal. Fun fact. Tony rendon never even hit 30 homers until 2019 with a juiced ball. Fantastic doubles hitter and good defense but he was never gonna be that guy. To think ppl bashed arenado because he played at coors. We’ll look now. Nolan been had 30+ power. Fools just hated too hard to read the home away splits. He never hit less than 15 on the road from 2015 on in a full season. That translates to 30 anywhere the NL west has big parks. I get it coors boosts your averages. But coors don’t make you win 9 gold gloves in a row. Coors don’t make you hit 15 on the road every season. And what happened when he left? He’s still a 260-280 hitter with 30 home runs and the most consistent fielder at third. Ps…. You can save the whole kebryan Hayes is better in the field comments. They said that about Chapman and after a season or two above Nolan he came back down to earth. Nobody plays as consistently good defensively as Nolan, maybe machado has his great defensive years but even he’s a step behind. Let me add: kebryan Hayes has the power of a 12 year old in his bat. I seen more power in the little league World Series.
Angels starters are currently 9th in team ERA Angels relievers are currently 20th in team ERA The offense has faltered since the middle of May and the bullpen has collapsed. Starters still doing well.
"Shohei Ohtani breaks single inning pitching record unbroken since 1924, while hitting a grand slam left handed with the sun in his eyes while wearing 2 eye patches to finish the game 4-12 against the Tigers"
That's how pro sports works sometimes. Unless you've delivered that team a championship in the last few years you'll get dropped as soon as things go wrong. I don't get why they think changing managers is some kind of cure though
I write this on June 21, 2022. The Angels 14 game losing streak began on May 25 and ended on June 9th. In a span of 27 games since May 25th the Angels have scored 5 or more runs just 7 times in 27 games and they are 2-5 in those contests. Meanwhile the Halos have given up 5 or more runs in 15 of those past 27. They are 6-21 in their last 27. Its the same story all over again. The starting pitching is decent but inconsistent. The bullpen has fallen apart. And worst of all, the Angels hitting is a MESS! When you've got infielders like: Andrew Velazques (SS) batting .175, Luis Rengifo (2B) batting .214, Tyler Wade (utility INF) batting .215, along with backup catcher Kurt Suzuki batting .207 (and arguably the worst pitch framer and defender) not to mention guys like Juan Legares batting .208 and the unfortunate realization that Anthony Rendon can't stay healthy and is out another year...the evidence is overwhelming that this team has ZERO depth in their lineup and pitching staff. Its once again a complete mess.
As an Astros fan the Angels are an enigma to me. One on hand I want them to lose because division rival. But on the other hand, as just a baseball fan and not an Astros fan, it breaks my heart to see guys like Trout, Shohei, Pujols, Upton, all these amazing talents just waisted on a bad team.
I’ve noticed almost every season the angels start super strong then go DEEP below almost everyone. It’s really discouraging but I’ve got hope for 2023 now that we got urshela, renfroe, drury, and Tyler Anderson though.
Great video! It was shocking yet also not shocking to see this team collapse; I knew that none of the players not named shoehei or Mike trout could maintain their positive momentum. Can u do a video following this collapse? I know you said “good thing they collapsed now so they can figure out their stuff.” But looking at their trades this year, and their failures to get back to 500 since the lossing streak, it’s clear they will not. Can u go into why ?
Too bad pujols still averaged over 20 homers a year and paid for his own contract a billion times over in the TV money arte got when him and Hamilton signed up. The merchandise and extra tickets along with concessions sold them first few years where a boon for moreno. What ppl lack to understand is, until Walsh came along, all the guys who was backing him up sucked way more than him. Like Justin bour lmao. Pujols was hitting 240 that year and ppl trashed him, well bour hit 190 lmao. So who was better and gonna take his job until Walsh came along? Nobody! Let’s not pretend pujols didn’t have decent or even good years in an angels uniform. First year hit 28 home runs and 50 doubles. Either 2014 or 2015 he hit 40 home runs. And in 2016 he went 30 and 100. So spare me the pujols was a distant comments. If his name wasn’t pujols and it was Joe Schmo the fans would be like… look at Joe Schmo he just went 28 bombs with 50 doubles and a 280 average (pujols first year stats). I get it, he wasn’t 30 million a year good. But he wasn’t a bum until his last 4-5 years. But last I checked nobody put a gun to morenos head and made him sign. So blame Moreno. The only reason he held anyone back was because arte had a self imposed cap of 180 million or less for all those years and would not spend on pitching. Ask any angels fan how their pitching was from 2012-2021, and don’t get me started on the trash bullpens they ran out. Please!
Love the comment. Kemp was a really good person. I watched him give a sick kid his shoes, a bat, and literally the shirt off his back. That guy has a heart like few men I’ve seen. He went outta his way for ppl, especially children and those less fortunate. Great guy!
This team is the perfect storm in the worst and best way. When things don't click, you see errors, bad pitching, and lack of runs. When things click, you see HR bombs, great pitching, and phenomenal fielding. This roster can pull it together for a playoff run, and keep in mind, they have Adell in their backpocket (in case of emergency).
Something that is glaring to me about the Angels that know body talks about is the minor league system.. Its horrible. Does nothing for the team or the league... Why is that you never hear about any good players being produced in the Angels system? I cant remember one player that came out and was a star.. Why is it that teams like the Rays and dodgers have so many prospects who all seem to blossom in the major leagues... Some becoming stars. The exact opposite can be said of the Angels minor leaguers.. Because those other teams value and put lots of $$$ into the Minor Leagues unlike the Halos management and ownership. Its so obvious. Moreno is a cheap ass. You would think that since they have one of the best of all time and Ohtani that they would understand they need to invest in minor leagues to get cheap home grown talent since most of their money will be locked up with those 2. But no... To keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is where the Angels are and I dont see anything good coming out of this kind of strategy... So expect more of the same from this organization... Crap....
wrong. Not OK. 19 games out and a season worst 11 games under .500. The lowly Orioles just swept four games. 5th or 6th straight rookie GM who is now apologizing. THAT's how bad it is now.
I’m a casual fan so I change teams quite often, for the last three years every team I followed that year has done horribly. Last year was the Padres and this year the Angels
i dunno man... personally i think trout is about to start feeling his age... I'm also worried that the change in management might not be so loose with Shohei , it would be a real shame to see his talents not in full display because of analytics.
Great analysis: joe Maddon is loose and is a players manager and lets guy be them and do what they please if they are playing well and performing. Who’s to say new manager doesn’t reign him in? That’s very true. We don’t know yet tho. On trout feeling his age? He’s been feeling it. Look at his defense and steals the last few seasons. Look at his time missed. Mike growth hormone goodburger moon face trout is declining and ppl can’t admit it. They cling to that guy like it’s a dad who doesn’t want some punk to take his daughter to her first prom. Never seen nothing like it.
Josh Hamilton was one of baseball's most dominant hitters at the time of the signing as well, just like Rendon was when he was dealt to the Angels. They both have been major disappointments in Anaheim, with Hamilton returning to Texas just a couple of seasons after the Angels acquired him. Rendon's fate has yet to be determined, but I figure it'll be no better than Hamilton's outcome.
I agree but I thought Hamilton would have worked out better. Rendon, I saw that coming. He was a good average and doubles hitter with medium power who said he didn’t wanna play forever. That equals gimme my money. Remember he plays corner inflows and hit 30 bombs one time in 2019 with a juiced ball. Only idiots thought he was 240+ million good. I’m sorry if you thought that, I’m not directly calling you an idiot, I mean the baseball ops ppl and arte show position players money Moreno
i see a lot of home run hitters being terrible at fielding. TTO baseball prefers hitters over fielders and look what happens when a team puts the ball in play. TTO baseball has always been very streaky....why haven't they learned this yet?
The terrible fielders aren’t the home run hitters the problem is having low production from the bottom of the order in wade,Velasquez,Suzuki, rengifo, lagares. You can have one of them not hit well but all 5 is horrendous and the only one out of those 5 playing exceptional defense is Velasquez.
@@smellyfly9469 I'm just not onboard with the idea that Velasquez needs to play because of his exceptional defense. His offense is horrendous hitting .172, and he looks like he's always swinging for the fence. If he's not going to produce much at the plate, he should at least work towards being a role player and try to get on base. That's obviously not the case when he's always going up there first pitch swinging. He's such an offensive liability. How many times was he the last out in the video we just watched about the 14 game losing streak? To me Velasquez is a coaching issue. Someone needs to put him in check about his approach at the plate.
Yea but sometimes regular at bats help a bad hitter. Even andrelton Simmons had decent years with the bat. Look at ikf for the yanks. His bat wasn’t as bad as we thought
I have NO clue why Otani and Trout signed such long deals with a team that has had these issues for almost 20 years now. These issues were not a secret to them.
I'd like to accentuate one of the darker elements. At 5:54 we're reminded that Mike Trout (a great player) He'll buy a house for his own self, one for his mom, and for his brother and his family. Oh, gotta get some supercars and some luxury cars. Then he'll realize, Crap! I still have $20 million to spend. And it gets worse. The Angels are going to torture Mr. Trout with an additional $35M for the next 11 years, leaving him with nearly a half billion dollars. What can one do? Baseball skills are important b/c we all like baseball. But should we like it to the tune of $35 million for a single player? My younger sister, a 4th-grade teacher, makes $60K. She'd need to work 583 years to match the $35 million a ball player makes in a year.

Firing Maddon wasn't the move here. He's proven to be a great manager. It's just a bad stretch.
I agree, I feel like they were pressured into doing it, maybe they took inspiration from the Phillies firing Joe Girardi
Whoever signed Rendon should be fired
The problem with Syndergaard was he never made adjustments. Players started to lay off the breaking ball down and outside of the zone.
Angels starters are currently 9th in team ERA
Angels relievers are currently 20th in team ERA
The offense has faltered since the middle of May and the bullpen has collapsed. Starters still doing well.
Love your videos
"Shohei Ohtani breaks single inning pitching record unbroken since 1924, while hitting a grand slam left handed with the sun in his eyes while wearing 2 eye patches to finish the game 4-12 against the Tigers"
Trout has been so loyal, at least he’s being paid.
After playing the Jays and losing 4 straight to them they’ve completely fallen flat on their faces
They fall on their face almost every time against real good teams.
As Angel fans it always seems as though the pieces are finally there every offseason, only to be exposed as a farce once the games count.
Love the music choice!
Firing Joe Maddon was a terrible decision. He’s probably one of the top 5 managers
That's how pro sports works sometimes. Unless you've delivered that team a championship in the last few years you'll get dropped as soon as things go wrong. I don't get why they think changing managers is some kind of cure though
I think his time as a top 5 manager has passed, but he is unquestionably better than anyone they were going to replace him with midseason.
Indeed, they were much worse under his replacement.
I’m just glad they took attention off my brewers
As an Astros fan i was actually worried about the Angels but then 😭
You have to make a video about the resurgence of Matt Carpenter
YES.
Dude only has like 20 At bats.
@@willm3027 6 homeruns in 20 at bats
@@zacherygoldstein1810 I can look up the stats too.
@@willm3027 Matt carpenter hit a combined 7 homeruns in 180 games in 2020-2021 and this year in 10 games he has 6 homeruns
Could you please do a video about the pirates, kind of similar to the one you did about the Padres. Think it’d do great!
What is the music in you videos
They should just clone Trout and Ohtani in a russian lab😂
Ima cards fan. When they signed pujoles to that ridiculous contract and then Josh Hamilton. Yikes.
Please!
Hope to see a video about Matt kemp dude had it all and just fell from grace
Love the comment. Kemp was a really good person. I watched him give a sick kid his shoes, a bat, and literally the shirt off his back. That guy has a heart like few men I’ve seen. He went outta his way for ppl, especially children and those less fortunate. Great guy!
Worst record in MLB since peaking at 27-17. A tragedy. About to get swept by the Orioles right now
I was there for the 13th loss. They just seemed to lack enthusiasm/ energy. It just seemed like they were out there not wanting to play.
Trout and Ohtani deserve better
The Angels didn't give Vernon Wells that contract, the Blue Jays did.
Bro what's the song that's playing at 3:58? That thing is lit.
As a Nats fan, I can tell the Angel fans that they better get used to Rendon being injured ALL THE TIME.
I feel so bad I feel your pain angels fans at least you won in 2002 the best years of baseball the team straight tricked you this year
I was at the game on the 25th, so I guess you can blame me.
I was thinking Lorenzen was going to go 2-way a bit like he did for a little while, especially since the Angels have Ohtani.
Crap....
The Angels franchise has a little history of this : 1995 and now this
Except in 95 they didn’t have the two best players in the league
@@screamingbanana4391 they had Tim Salmon and Jim Edmonds in 1995 and they were all stars.
wrong.
@@ramenlover1727 because of Ohtani and Trout
Angels pitching in Sandoval, Ohtani, Syndergard, and Lorenzen and Detmers are good pitchers but just need to be more consistent
man, the Angels should be so much better than they are, they have so much going for them, if they just could get pitchers
Hillarious
i dunno man... personally i think trout is about to start feeling his age...
Rangers fan here. It's honestly crazy how the angels have spent money on guys that should've worked out but didn't. Josh Hamilton is a prime example
Two months later: yep...they still suck.
is the "mlb the show" curse, happened to tatis too
i see a lot of home run hitters being terrible at fielding.
12:05 IT STILL HURTS DAM IT
I can't believe we will be going another year without trout and ohtani in the playoffs...
Trout hurt again
What? It’s not even half way to the season. Calm down.
@@ziggyc4474 he just hit 2 dongs yesterday
Yes you can believe it you've already been through X amount of years lol
It’s ok. They both chose that.
Can’t wait till the angels turn it around and win the World Series leading to a jon bois video in the future
dan plesac said about three weeks ago the angels pitching would not hold up.....
I remember that series against Texas, all losses were walk offs
Angels keys to make the postseason:
1) Use Jared Walsh as a 2-way player
2) Use Michael Lorenzen as a 2-way player
lol
we won't be okay
Yea this is 3 weeks old, things are worse now
We’re cursed
One final push for the road Ohtani 😭
I have NO clue why Otani and Trout signed such long deals with a team that has had these issues for almost 20 years now. These issues were not a secret to them.
This clip was made before Rendon's season ending injury...
4:00 is Damn! by Lenine, slaps💀💀💀
It is incredible that the best pitcher of a team is ohtani a part-time pitcher
11:13 did you forget about the Mets comeback?
Since May 24th, the Angels are 11-33 as of right now. YIKES!!
Update: now 24-50 since then. From 10 games over .500, to 16 games under .500.
Fucking hell...

it's like???????? idk what happened after they raked with wins between april- may
the narrator's voice made me think it would end with, "But that's just a theory...A BASEBALL THEORY
