There was a dark age at the end of the nineties. Brit-Pop was a zombified corpse, shuffling forward. NME and Melody Maker were desperately pushing mediocre bands like Gay Dad as the next best thing. One Christmas my sister hurt herself in a bad accident. Mum persuaded me to go New Years eve break to the holiday cottage with my friends, instead of stewing in worry waiting for her to recover. (She recovered fine!) Turning up to the cottage, in a sad, bad mood a friend slapped on a CD on to the player. It was this, Arcade Fire's debut album. It was incredible. It was different. It just.... was such an emotional experience as I jumped up and down, crying listening to it. I will always love this album. Incidentally, I was bullied at school. It's no picnic. I even had a shameful episode where I bullied another to try to cope, and felt the biggest s**t-heel straight after. This is the type of song where you just need to pour it all out to, to scream at the sky, to dance like you're possessed.
Funeral is a Phenomenal Album. Great to see a reaction to an album not by the usual suspects. Give Can album Ege Bamyasi a try. Or maybe Rare Bird album Epic forest.
I was obsessed with this album when it came out. This was also around the time that I started buying vinyl, so I was such a little 20 yr old wannabe hipster listening to this over and over on my record player I may have been obnoxious, but the record is a treasure.
I'll watch a lot of reaction videos and this is the first time I've seen somebody hear the song the whole way through loved it how else could you honestly give your honest opinion
Amazing song and reaction, Arcade Fire is a Montreal band, they are truly amazing. Saw them numerous times in concert, never a let down. I actually know 3 of the band members personally, they do not get enough airplay I find.
