Oh that is SO beautiful, I love the back.
Love Natalie. She is so fun to watch. Saw this rug on her site recently. Will be a fun project for my granddaughter and I to make!
I've done one where you wrap the rope completely with long strips of fabric. I like yours much better. Using scraps is a great way to clean up my stash of them.
I love this idea! Can't wait to try it!
When starting out, I would use smaller pieces of fabric so it dosen't curl up and make a dome in the middle, or you could clip the edge so it lays flat. It sure is really cute. Thanks for sharing.
PJ D exactly what I stated in the video. Smaller pieces at the beginning would make it easier
I love this! I'm going to have to try one.
I'm so excited to do this!!
LOVE this! Gonna make one. Thanks!
Such an easy project!!! Thank you
I love it! Another one of your project that I have to add to my list!
Great tutorial! I am definitely going to try this. I hope my sewing machine can handle the thickness of the rope.
And what a clever way to use fabric scraps! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.
How fun! I think this is totally adorable ❤️ Thank you for sharing with us 🤗
Love the project and your nails look beautiful.
Love the "patchwork" look. I've made a fabric bowl a long time ago, but I really like the look of your rug. Your projects are always nice.
SO MANY ideas with that. And how fun to make it to match your room, with scraps from the pillow you make!
Really cool. We're doing a home made Christmas this year and I think My aunt would really like this!
What a great use for my favorite byAnnie stiletto. My daughter's new great room has a dining room table that is sorely in need of a new oval table runner/trivet. Thank you for this.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing such a fun and unique item.
I love this idea. Thank you for sharing with us. I will check out Natalie's site as well. I am going to give this a try. Love it!
Love, love.love this! Tfs!
So cute and usable.
I'm totally going to make this!
Beautiful work. Many thanks for your tutorial
great idea, looks regood and you do so good at explaining
Oh I love this, n I love the back too. Tyfs
It looks really beautiful and a good way to get rid of leftover cloth
Clever and lovely idea for use all those scraps, can't wait to make one, many thanks 😍💕💐
Cute Lorrie. I’ve made lots of these but I wrap fabric around all of the cord so it’s a little different. I like this method too. Nice 👍
Nice job showing us how we can make this! You make it look easy. I hope I can do it. I'm going to try to make a long oval shaped one for in front of our kitchen sink. Wish me luck. I may need it.
Thank you so very much!
Well that’s super cute!!!! You know how much I like whimsy! 😊👌
Great project! Now to get some rope! TFS
Very cute idea!
Another leftie here. I'm going to try and make this. Thank you. Liked and subscribed.👍
I have wanted to try a jelly roll rug but this one looks better to try for my first rug! Thank you for this video!
Love it.
beautiful rug
This is really neat. I just might attempt this. Tfs😁
This is a great idea
Cool!
I have done this with 3 and 4 pieces. I’m going to try the 2
So super cute!!! 💗💙💚💙💗
Beautiful
I have to try this

Fun fun fun and soooo stinking cute! TFS!!❤xo💜xo💙xo💛xo💖xo💚
I've made the wrap kind before. This looks like way more fun. And now I can't throw out any fabrics. Lol
Love this project - can't wait to give it a try! #Cricutlove
I just love the way you give instructions very easy to understand. Can you tell me what is the best way to show my granddaughter how to sew? Is there something I can buy like a kit or something?? TY
Nice for oval shaped placemats, too! Wonder how they would wash up?
What needle size. Very good tutorial. Thank you 😊
I love this rug. Do you think you could die the rope with like a rit dye to make the rope a color other than natural?
For the rope rug would you recommend using jeans needles and polyester threads ?
My rug is puckering and not laying flat. Any ideas?
Lorrie, I just finished watching this video. I've been wanting a rug/mat in front of the kitchen sink for a long while now. You said I could make the rug into an oval shape. Is there a video that could teach me how to do this? I'm a visual learner. That's why I like YT so much.
Thanks,
Marie
TwinzMonster TM just make an oval to start it instead of a circle
Lorrie,
I'll let you know how it goes. 😀😀😀
You start off the middle with a longer straight piece of rope before you turn. (Rather than turning right from the start and making a coil.) How long you make that straight beginning will determine the proportion of your rug.
Every round you do will make your rug just as much longer as it does wider. So the DIFFERENCE between the finished length and width of the rug you want is how long you make your starting "straight" before your first turn.
For example, if you wanted a skinny long rug that is five feet long and two feet wide when it is finished then your starting straight would be three feet long.

I wanted to do that too. Now I have the confidence to make it. I didn't even think of doing that but it does makes sence.
Thank you so much Megan!
#Cricutlove this looks so fun to make, gonna make one for my grandsons room
Love it! 💕 What kind of needle did u use? And stitch settings?
Abbey P 80/12 universal
What do you do with the end of the rope to finish it off?
What size needle and thread are you using?
I m having the toughest time making this rug. Seems like i miss so many spots. It is normal to have to go back so much to join the ropes. Are you sure about the stitch length and width?
My biggest problem is making it lay flat.
I started my first rug . Had to rip it out twice :( I'm having a hard time keeping it flat. Any pointers would be awesome
I have two tips that might help. Have your patchy fabrics on the bias so they're happy to stretch a bit more around curves. Keep the rope you're feeding in a straight line out from the machine towards you and turn the mat to meet it (rather than bending the rope around the mat first and trying to turn them both together under the foot.
@@meganmills6545 Excellent tips.....thank you!
I can’t get my rug to stop turning into a bowl. I have my tension at 4 and it still curls.
You have to keep it flat as you’re spinning it. I find stacking some books or something beside my machine helps.
I've watched your video and the one you suggested. Neither one comments on how best to finish it. I want to make sure the end doesn't fray.
Any suggestions from anyone?
Also, I didn't try it, but I think cutting the fabric on the bias may avoid some of the curling up, especially in the beginning when the rounds are small.
I zig zagged 4 to 5 times on the end🤷♀️
How big does it measure? Yours looks really nice on the back on the back of mine I can see all my threads even though they're neutral I wonder why this happened🤔😫
I see two types of clothesline, which is the one you used please?
The rope i used is not a bright white. It’s a natural as I have linked in the video description
How do you finish it? I tried this and I don't want the end to look sloppy.
How to you clean the rug❤
Can these rugs be washed?
Hello. You may have said, but I must have missed it, How many yards or meters of rope did you use to achieve that diameter? Thank you.
How would you wash it
Jeanette Young in the washer. It washes perfectly fine
How do you clean these rugs
Throw them in the washer. I’ve washed several times and they wash up great
@@LorrieNunemaker thanks please send me any of your other videos on making rugs
Can you show us how to make a square rug
I think you would start the center with a square.
Are you supposed to be able to see the ziz zag stiches on the fabric pieces?
Yep! You can use color thread too and make it pop.
But you’d see errors more.
