    I don't put negative comments out here but I am going to on this. You made the comment that you get critiques posted on things you do. WELL, I think that is wrong! You are simply showing what works best for you. You've said many times on many video's you are not a quilter, nor am I. We do what works best for us! I think you're doing a fantastic job and very creative. Thank you for sharing your talents.

    I’m a seamstress, patching jeans is a headache for me , but while watching I believe an Asian lady doing her patchwork , I learned something from her that helps a lot ! She used glue sticks around the jeans she was patching, then around the area where it’ll be applied , she then pressed it , that holds in place while you do your darning ! This is a life saver for me bcoz a lot of times I’ll poke my fingers with pins or it’ll shift ! I pressed my patches with a hot iron on both sides let it sit then finished darning ! When I saw you applying glue I thought let me suggest glue stick method really works , I’ve even seen ladies using on quilts , like you said this works for me try it !

    I love your method to end the biding by cutting the point and then folding. My edges never look that neat. I'm going use this method from now on. Thank you

    I made it but put the binding on before I folded it that way I didn't have any raw edge on corners. After I attached the binding then I sewed the flaps. Came out very cute. Thank you for the idea. I couldn't master it the other way. I'm happy with my card wallet.

    Lorrie, from a 50+yr quilter, your binding technique is a great tip. Since the corners are bulky from the fabric being pre-quilted your technique will keep out any extra bulk from doing a regular binding. Way to go!!!!

    Lorrie, I’ve been sewing for many decades and I think you’re doing just fine. You don’t have to be a quilter or puriest to sew well. You’re great at video teaching of techniques - perfect! I’ve been having a ball doing all your PW placemat projects, getting all the ladies in my guild excited about making these projects to the point that it’s hard to find any PW place mats in the stores. Good sign!

    That’s a good bonding for this wallet. I am a quilter and I can tell you that bonding I all the way around would make it far too bulky, especially when mothering the corners. And if you seeed it across the bottom of the pockets, it would shorten each of the pockets by 1/4”. That’s a good job and I really like the bonding you used. 😄😄😄

    I'm a quilter and I think what you did for the binding was fine for a quick project! A suggestion though. On the magnetic clasp. Seeing as though you are cutting the mat. Can you separate the batting and put the prong part in there so that your cards, cash whatever you put in the wallet doesn't get beat up on the clasp? And no one will see the out side of the clasp if they look inside? Just a thought?

    • @ruthdrews496
      @ruthdrews496 6 лет назад

      Sha-Leine Green that’s a great idea....I’ll have to try that, but wouldn’t you have cut threads showing on the underneath side? Maybe take a small piece of the mat - cut a small square and sew over it - but then you’ll see the sew lines on the top side....hmmm, something to ponder over

    • @seamsuneven7824
      @seamsuneven7824 6 лет назад +3

      Ruth Drews no you wouldn't have to sew anything if you are talking about placing the magnetic snaps inside the pouch center so the metal won't affect the things you put in the inside. I would put a small 1" square inside with Pellon Peltex with the washer and the prongs to secure it one on each side so the snaps don't wear through your fabric. You already had to cut it in half so the inside is exposed. Then proceed and finish how she showed in the video. Hope that helps? If not please let me no! ☺

Not sure if It's possible but couldn't you cut off 2 rows from the short side, add magnetic clips, leave ends open so the needles (I use circular needles) could be laid in. Clip shut. I can see it in my head, but clearly I'm not good at translating my thoughts.

    I would use Velcro if you putting your credit cards in..The magnet may damage the strip on the back of the credit card... As a quilter have to tease you on the binding but in all seriousness it is an interesting way of binding..Never seen it done and am curious how it would work on a larger project. I like to hand bind my quilts I am thinking I may have to get half a dozen of these placemats and make a large quilt......I have made a ton of your little zipper bags with some alterations and just love them....But I do believe I see a quilt in the near future.... Great ideas for placemats..

      I had to tease about binding too, less binding to work with this way. I use one raw edge and stitch 1/4 inch, then fold over the rest and hand stitch, just as I do with any size quilted project! Cute wallet idea though...and pouch. Elizabeth

    Hi Lorrie, your projects are so cool and you make it seem so ‘doable’ for beginners.
    Could we use the kam snap closures in place of the magnetic snaps?
    I have loved and made and gifted to my friends your magnetic measure tape snap closure purses from your tutorial. Thank you.
