Taurine might have possible benefits, but it also has some significant potential negative side effects. Taurine can increase anxiety and along with that increase mood volatility, and not in a good way. This isn't typically seen in the short term, but rather after a few weeks of continued use at even a very moderate dose (2.5 g/day). Fortunately the effects are not permanent and substantially dissipate after a week or so of not using it. Be warned. I've seen it happen in 2 cases.

Best tasting whey protein is ryse. As far as losing belly fat you can’t spot reduce fat so as long as you are in a calorie deficit and lift, eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight and do light cardio you will get leaner eventually and your muscle will show, although it is unlikely you will build much muscle while in a calorie deficit so once you cut down to where you want to be go in a slight surplus while slightly increasing protein and you will start acquiring muscle

Hey Thomas, curious about your thoughts on Shilajit?? I’m on my first month and using it as a replacement for Tongkat Ali in my one month on one month off cycle of it. I definitely notice a little difference in my strength, muscle growth, energy and recovery, than when off the TA, but dang, when I’m on TA it’s night and day difference. Love TA. I’ve also been on HMB and D3 supplementation for about a year and noticed a difference off that in the beginning. Not so sure now. Maybe just over powered by TA. Anyway, would love to hear your research and opinion on Shilajit. Love for channel. Thanks
Taurine is so weird. Used it many times throughout the years. Supposed to help with hydration. well i guess that works, because you become immensely thirsty, annoyingly so. There's also a Magnesium that contains it, this one is really terrible, worst thirst i've ever felt and it doesn't go away until many hours later, i bet i could drink 3l of water and i would still feel thirsty.
Thomas, picture supplements as loyal allies in the grand symphony of crafting your muscular masterpiece, not mythical potions from ancient tales. ( ruclips.net/user/postUgkxT1bhUEidupyWZ7Snmu6W9wm-v1IqIMGL ) Your unwavering commitment and mindful dietary selections shine as the central figures, with protein leading the ensemble. Let supplements play a supporting role, not the lead, in the unfolding saga of your fitness odyssey. Stay focused on your goals-your progress in this adventure is commendable!
You arent the professional here, I can't eat meat, so supplements are the only way that I can get my amino acids. Keep your steak and eggs to yourself.
I’m 65 and was taking Tongkat Ali and it had a terrible effect on my digestion. I took it exactly how it was prescribed but it gave me gas and diarrhea.
Hey Thomas, one question about tongkat ali, here in EU, it's import is banned because may cause potential DNA damage, do you know anything about it? And a follow up question, tongkat ali must be in simple powder form, a 200,100:1 extract, or longjack? Thank you
It is HIGHY recommended to cycle Tokgkat Ali. Typically 4 weeks on 1 week off. To much for too long has been proven can be toxic. As long as you take recommended dosage from a reputable supplier and cycle then you will not have issue.
There seems to be EAAs in some protein powders already. Do you recommend additional EAAs supplementation on TOP of what's already in the protein powder?
BCAAs bypass the liver and are absorbed quicker. That is why taking them at training is effective. If you track macros and already consuming high protein you are getting plenty of EEAs. Separating the BCAAs help them digest quicker.
It would be great to hear a similar video more aimed at endurance sports. I take taurine and creatine religiously but will drop off creatine a week or so out from race days due to water retention (would be good to hear your thoughts on that) Would there be benefits to Beta Alanine in shorter endurance activities E.g 5k running race around 15 minutes of work?
Tongkat Ali and Creatine are the strongest ones. Whey protein is just protein. Any protein builds muscle. Taurine is good for energy DHEA works very good as well. So does DIM. DIM is an estrogen blocker that helps build natural test.
hi Thomas i hope your well. what's the best way of building muscle and burning fat in ramadhan. i have watched the previous videos of Ramadhan and it was extremely helpful.
‘Sipping on.. during a workout..’ hmm… and just what’s the mechanism that’s supposed to make the stuff you are consuming [immediately] available during a workout? - If he’d say ‘injecting’ it’d at least sound somewhat reasonable… Gotta take stuff like this with a grain (or a pound) of salt..
I take everything except the ECAAs. I never felt a difference while taking it, BUUUUT after seeing the studies here, I'm trusting the science and throwing it back in the mix. Thank you Thomas!
It might not help if you're already eating healthy and getting a wide range of complete proteins. The only time I've felt a benefit from EAA is during a cut, eating less it's a great supplement to sip all day, curbs hunger and maintains muscle repair/growth. It's basically just covering amino acids that you might be deficient on.
Science doesn't make it absolute. If you notice a difference with other supplements you are more attuned to your body than most people. If you are taking something that doesn't make a difference you probably don't need to spend your money on it.
Yea and taurine can actually be kinda life-changing, if you happen to have an illness that it can fix, and it can fix a lot and does a LOT of different things, all of them awesome.
@@QuantumOfSolace1If nothing else, it extends the life span of mice (when given to them from the human equivalent of 40 years old onwards) by 10%-12%. I started taking it for that reason alone, without waiting for another 40 years for longitudinal studies in humans to be completed.
Interesting these folks that comment on not taking supps yet they are watching videos on best supps. Some supps work and some don't but most of these are excellent supps. Caffeine alone can turn an ordinary workout into an amazing productive session.
TONGKAT ALI is the only natural test booster worth taking IMO .... I stopped taking all my other supplements for a month and ran 1600 mg of TK with my regular diet / workout and definitely noticed improvement in recovery time, energy in the gym, duration of workouts etc .....good stuff and CHEAP 🙏
Forget about fasting. It's benfits mainly come from the calorie restriction. Just focus on overall calorie intake over a day or even the week and you'll be fine.
For older guys: Vitamin K2 is lacking but necessary to clear the arteries. Grass-fed foods are what's really needed. Beef, eggs, sea or Himalayan salt, and occasional seafood. Cut the alcohol, better sleep, more water, exercise consistency, and some cardio sprinkled in is all you need. Supplements are expensive and unnatural and hard on the kidneys and liver. Im 60, with no medications and clear arteries. Fruits and vegetables are "fun foods" and not required. My studies are in archeology and anthropology. We have been lied to since the 1900s about nutrition simply for financial gain. . For more info on the Proper Human Diet, see Dr. Berry, Dr. Phil Ovadia, Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. David Diamond, there are too many to list.
My brother takes whey protein and I take pea and hemp protein. He suffers liver issues and his hairs thinning. Best bit is, hes 38 and I'm 45. Take what you like from this.
I’m surprised no Nitric Oxide. I’ve used that for many years. Not just work outs, but sport too. One of my favorite times is while skiing on powder days. Ripping down a slope in knee deep powder is like doing sprints. You can get a little gassed. But with nitric oxide, the recovering is one third the time. Then off again ripping it up. Same in the gym. Just me, but I swear by it. Great video. Thanks.
Citrulline and Arginine. Definitely gives you "pump" in the gym. It's in every PWO. It's also usually included in pills that are supposed to give you "pump" in a specific body part and it works there too. It can also lower blood pressure and it can be risky to use for people who had heart problems. Kind of a light version of Viagra.
@@versewriter8123 Great question and spurred me on to look. I just realized I was all but out. Originally was from GNC, but they closed the store near me. Then from Puritans Pride. They got great supplements, but have been out of NO for a long time. So I did a google and Amazon search. Takes some time to read up on them, but I found two I thought I'd try. The one I really like after reading the feed back was from Primaforce. The people that liked it had the same reaction to NO I had. So do your DD and find one you think you will like. Creatine is the oldest and most tested supplement it has no side effects. Health benefits have been seen in children to elderly people. I’m not saying your kidneys didn’t hurt if it started after you took creatine I think you might have something going on with your kidneys you should have them checked out.
BRAND ? QUANTITY TAKEN ? WHEN DID YOU TAKE ? HOW OFTEN ? OTHERS SUBSTANCES YOU TOOK, ATE, DRUNK? WHAT DO YOU EAT REGULARLY? HOW HEALTHY ARE YOU? HOW HEALTHY WERE YOUR KIDNEYS BEFORE STARTED TAKEN CREATINE? DO YOU DRINK ALCOHOL? MOST PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. CONSULT A DOCTOR.
I agree. I have a friend who was suffering from “ long covid “ and that was the only thing that made a dramatic increase in his energy. I don’t have long covid but I went out and bought some. It does improve clarity and energy IMHO. Not cheap however. Perhaps it works if you cycle it.
I have it but it’s so gross. I try to take it like a shot by mixing it warm water and a splash of honey. I didn’t notice a difference but I only used it consistently for less than a week. I need to get back on it.
i can't stand the itch on beta alinine. I was taking it every day and i'd wake up itching every night and couldn't sleep. The first time it happened I didn't know it could do that so I was freaking out and trying to figure out what it was and it was added to one of the protein or preworkouts or something.
This happened to me too. The cure: taurine. I take 2 taurine capsules with beta alanine prior to working out. No more itch. That's why it's included in so many energy drinks.

@@michaelscacciaferro8210 Thanks for the response. I'm hoping to find a good protein powder that I can use to effectively replace one meal a day or every other day. I'm constantly low energy and want to turn things around
Thanks
He won't respond...he never does.

Thanks that was very helpful for me
just be sure to get a good multi vitamin, creating, bcaa, and eat at least 3 times a day.
Been in the Gym for over 40 years, Do Not waste your money on supplements, eat right, and have a good STEAK and EGGS.

Creatine is an amazing supplement lol, also alot of people don't get enough sunlight in alot of countries so D3 is also good
Im 364 years old. Thanks for the advice!
What about TMG? Where would you rate that relative to the others on that list?
Best thing to build muscle is good diet and hard exercise work everything else is just putting on fluid .
I’m 65 and was taking Tongkat Ali and it had a terrible effect on my digestion. I took it exactly how it was prescribed but it gave me gas and diarrhea.
preworkout with amino acid and caffeine! Tongkat i found is nasty. gave me bad BO and stomach nausea
Try another brand. Lower the dose.
How do you take the taurine? Pills?Drinks?
I take it in powder form mixes well and no taste.
I use pills cheap and easy
It's all powder on the inside. Take it however you like.
I got a bottle of Taurine capsules 500mg at Sprouts for like $11. Taurine is really cheap.
@@NateDohDoubleGeeWhat is good timing for taking it? Am I correct that it should be taken before workouts?
EAAs work big time. sleep was enhanced too ,to my surprise
@@burnham187 thank you for the answer!
@@burnham187 Way over doing the benefits and risks of any supplement, which usually don't do anything.
There seems to be EAAs in some protein powders already. Do you recommend additional EAAs supplementation on TOP of what's already in the protein powder?
EAA are in EVERY protein powder, they are amino acids.
@@jan4880 I appreciate the reply, but that doesn't answer my question
BCAAs bypass the liver and are absorbed quicker. That is why taking them at training is effective. If you track macros and already consuming high protein you are getting plenty of EEAs. Separating the BCAAs help them digest quicker.
Kind of surprised HMB isn't on here
Literally said the same thing to myself
What's HMB ?
I take HMB.
Its not a proven as the others…and tends to help older guys more…or i bet it would be on his list….also its not as cheap.
Waste of money
Can you take tourine while taking creatine?
Ive been taking tongat ali and fadosia agrestis with creatine and all i have to say is🤯🤯.
What gains have you seen?
It would be great to hear a similar video more aimed at endurance sports. I take taurine and creatine religiously but will drop off creatine a week or so out from race days due to water retention (would be good to hear your thoughts on that)
Would there be benefits to Beta Alanine in shorter endurance activities E.g 5k running race around 15 minutes of work?
Look into HMB.
Whey protien spikes blood sugar significantly. You onlu absorb about 20% of that protien. EAAs are more available without the blood sugar spike.
Do you have study link on this
I saw a video that claimed most people get enough taurine in a regular diet.
Phenomenal, functional content with great explanations!
Unless it's steroids or andro....don't waste your money.....workout on a consistent basis and the gains will come
A slight mis-calc on the rowing time improvement: 6 secs on say 7 minutes 2k time is about 1.5% improvement.
What about Turkesterone??
Tongkat Ali and Creatine are the strongest ones.
Whey protein is just protein. Any protein builds muscle.
Taurine is good for energy
DHEA works very good as well.
So does DIM. DIM is an estrogen blocker that helps build natural test.
what about TMG/Betaine?
hi Thomas
i hope your well. what's the best way of building muscle and burning fat in ramadhan.
i have watched the previous videos of Ramadhan and it was extremely helpful.
Is there Benedict of taking taurine post workout instead? I dont want taurine to affect my pre workout caffeine.
Y would it affect your pre workout negatively?
‘Sipping on.. during a workout..’ hmm… and just what’s the mechanism that’s supposed to make the stuff you are consuming [immediately] available during a workout? - If he’d say ‘injecting’ it’d at least sound somewhat reasonable…
Gotta take stuff like this with a grain (or a pound) of salt..
yea thats dumb. idk why you wouldnt just take it hours before or at night so its available the next day.
great video
Can you recommend some amino acids and whey protein to take. Also creatine. I'm 40 years
Personally didn’t think whey protein being a performance enhancer was surprising…
@@Vincent_Beers Makes sense, thanks! Summer is right around the corner so it's cutting time right now. 💪
Taking Taurine because every one is saying how great is - but I feel nothing different from it!
@@QuantumOfSolace1If nothing else, it extends the life span of mice (when given to them from the human equivalent of 40 years old onwards) by 10%-12%. I started taking it for that reason alone, without waiting for another 40 years for longitudinal studies in humans to be completed.
Hello to everyone,
What is the dosage of taurine for health purposes?
I read somewhere side effects can occur at 3 grams. So anything under 3. I usually do 2 grams.
I do taurine on a empty stomach 1g per dose up to 4 times per day.
@@Korvxxwhy would you need to take it up to 4x per day? Does it give you an immediate effect that you can feel??

Interesting these folks that comment on not taking supps yet they are watching videos on best supps. Some supps work and some don't but most of these are excellent supps. Caffeine alone can turn an ordinary workout into an amazing productive session.
I like EAA’s while working out fasted feels better with high inter

Forget about fasting. It's benfits mainly come from the calorie restriction. Just focus on overall calorie intake over a day or even the week and you'll be fine.
Did you even watch the video?

Why not Betaine?

Tongkat ali and fadogia agrestis were super effective for me. I had a hell of a crash coming off them.
Thanks.
Where do you get nitric oxide from?
Look into humming to create nitric oxide in your body. It’s free and easy. There is a surgeon in Hawaii that talks about the research on RUclips.

Creatine had my kidneys hurting bad even with drinking a lot of water
How did that happen? Did you drink to much water maybe?

Perhaps it works if you cycle it.

i can't stand the itch on beta alinine. I was taking it every day and i'd wake up itching every night and couldn't sleep. The first time it happened I didn't know it could do that so I was freaking out and trying to figure out what it was and it was added to one of the protein or preworkouts or something.
After a while your brain gets used to it and you don't notice it.
This happened to me too. The cure: taurine. I take 2 taurine capsules with beta alanine prior to working out. No more itch. That's why it's included in so many energy drinks.
Except creatine and whey rest all for short term only should not be taken for long term as these studies not done on long term impact
