Until I started watching court shows, I had *NO* idea that so many people were out here buying cars without test driving them! 😳 That just seems so bizarre to me.

She really needs to let them talk instead of constantly interrupting them and talking for them and over them. She already reviewed the case beforehand and made up her mind rather than actually LISTENING to both the defendant and plaintiff. Judge thinks she knows more about their situation than them, but she’s mistaken. She knows the law, yes, but not what happened between the defendant and plaintiff and how the law should be used in their case. So she should listen to their case and judge how the law (in their state) will be applied to their situation. Unfortunately, she’s too busy being disruptive and interrupting the plaintiff and defendant. Even tho I agree w the verdict, the judge needs to let them speak and make their case as well as defend themselves against a lawsuit. But she talks more than the two plaintiff and defendant combined.
We’ve reached a point socially where people in positions of power are expected to treat the people they oversee or service in a respectful manner. Gone are the days where it’s acceptable for a teacher to strike a misbehaving student or a doctor to have poor bedside manner. This seems to be in conflict with court TV shows that began decades ago when it was exciting to see judges rip into litigants.
'As Is' laws work much differently in MA than in other states, so the usual 'you bought it AS IS' doesn't apply here. The only reason he lost is that he did not bother to actually go through with an inspection to prove it failed. If he had paperwork PROVING that instead of him just showing that, this would have turned out differently.
Under the Lemon Aid Law, not only would he have had to take the car for inspection within 7 days, he would have to have documentation that it failed said inspection AND an estimate showing that the cost to repair the car in a manner that would allow it to pass inspection was MORE than 10% of the purchase price of the car (NO court is in the business of rewarding those who took sucker deals when they should have known better.) This is why we actually have law schools and not a public policy of, "Come be a lawyer based on things you heard on television!"

It's an older car, one I had before - not same car - same model - so I had an idea of how it should be when test driving it and what not. It worked out in my case, but I think if I were buying any other car - I would def. have it checked out first.
defendant did not have an agreement to impose storage fees. he could have just called police to say someone left their car on his property. then city would charge plaintiff tow and storage fees.

It’s not that she knows the law and doesn’t want people talking endlessly. It’s that she asks questions just because she likes to (to use her own phrase) flap her gums and then realizes there are more appropriate questions to ask. Heck, she’ll often interrupt herself mid-sentence to shout, “No, no, no! Never mind! You know what we’re gonna do?” It’s frustrating to watch as a viewer, so I can only imagine how frustrating it is when you’re standing right in front of her as she’s screaming.
