I really like how she says no at the end, I half-expected her to have no character building whatsoever and say yes at the end just for the lols even though it was previously established that what the syringe guy was doing was fucked up and, I mean, I guess that having your heart eaten and your conscience absorbed into a mass of psychedelic eyes might also negatively influence your mental wellbeing

I personally run a hunter pound and sadly this exact circumstance happens much more often than you'd think in the business. A bounty hunter named Elaine gets adopted by a criminal and adherent to the creed of lost eyes named Nuzzner Fubs. It's happening thousands of times, right now. Tragic.
The smoothness of the movements and how everything is spoken through body language, expressions, and timing is just so satisfying. I'd pay to see a whole game made in your style. Brilliant work man >o

I just realized: At 13:10, it says you must not have a heart to continue. Elain’s gets taken away, but Nuzzer Fubs doesn’t need to, because he’s already heartless.
I was under the impression it was almost a sort of Egyptian afterlife thing, like killing Nuzzer Fubs while he was tripping on his chemicals opened a portal to the realm of the dead, and she wasn't supposed to be there since she was still alive so she had to have her heart removed so she could symbolically count as 'dead' before she could proceed.
Theory: the sequence where Elain is transported to the other dimension is her losing a part of herself after she claims her first kill as a bounty hunter. She doesn't literally have her heart taken out, she feels bad for having killed someone even if they were a psycho.
Yeah but would that explain the floating elain heads and elain leaves. Usually in gooseworx cartoons things which seem like metaphors at first tend to actually exist in this universe.

It's not a bad theory but I don't think this is Elain's first kill. She keeps a large amount of guns on her at all times and has been a bounty hunter before with Dento. Unless she's just cartoonishly unlucky/skilled and just non-lethal'd her way this far... I think she actually got her heart eaten by Love Nugget and she's wondering if that's going to have consequences later...
Getting vored, left behind by your boss, injected with some unknown chemical, heart being eaten, and data being downloaded. Man I feel bad, luck wasn't on her side after she jumped off the tower.
Everything terrible that happened to Elain is a direct result of her jumping out the window in the first episode. She destroyed the generator with her landing, trapping Dento within the elevator. Dento being stuck led to her going up against Gop Donsterly without backup. Because she went in alone, Gop was able to overpower her and send her to the vore dimension to play a quiz game. Losing the quiz game got her sent to the Hunter Pound, which led to the events of this episode. If she waited for her partner, he might have been able to save her from Gop. Even better, she may not have been swallowed at all. But she got greedy, and went by herself. The horrors that have since befallen her were put in motion by her own hubris.

@Ian Yoder Maybe they both had near-death experiences in the War that led to them having run-ins with the Elders, but both reacted in different ways. Our gun-toting friend gleaned the ability to download data from the recently deceased into himself instead of letting it be claimed by the Elders, while his smiling nemesis instead grew obsessed with encountering them again and so began experimenting with "mind-expanding" hallucinogens on unwilling subjects to see if he could send a living subject into their presence and back to claim all those eldritch secrets for himself.
I really, really like Vondu as a character. There's just something really intriguing about how he has all that weaponry in his coat, and how he can just stuff people into jars like that. Like all of Gooseworx's characters, he's very expressive and interesting.
I actually feel bad for elain. I know its a character but she legit just wants to do her job and what she needs to experience is just horrible events, one after another.
WOW. That detail needed to add that weird thing in your eye after staring at a bright light. That was an unexpected feature, very cool. (3:19 for reference)
I genuinely feel sad for these characters... especially Elain and Dento. Elain has been forced into a world that she didn't ask for, and Dento is left to wonder what happened to his good friend (possibly lover, but that's for another time). Elain has been through hell and back, literally. She deserves better... I really hope to see some kind of finale or epilogue where Dento and Elain can have a happy and normal (or as normal as you can get with Goosworx...) life. It's even more impressive that Goose has managed to create such a vivid and emotional film with almost no dialogue whatsoever. Simply astounding. I also really like how the scene with the Target Buddy references, or is at least similar to, the scene from The Incredibles. Very nice. Fantastic cartoon.
So I’m guessing nuzzner fubs and Elain’s data got integrated into the world’s system which is why at the end we see elain shaped leaves and clouds at the end.
It's also worth noting that while Nuzzer was dead upon his data being "reused", Elain was alive and got her heart removed and eaten by a space monster first. For whatever that counts as. The GCU (Gooseworx Cinematic Universe) is a complex place, very curious to see where it goes from here.

So, weird question. In Elain the Bounty hunter, Elain behaves in a very human manner, and appearance-wise, she seems normal for a pink city resident, albeit VERY resilient and wearing an odd outfit. However, in this video, she ends up in a pound and gets sold to someone as a pet, and she doesn't look too out-of-place among the other "shelter animals". So, is Elain a person or a pet, and furthermore, what qualifies someone as a person or a pet in this universe?
Most irl equivalents in this gooseworx world are slightly skewed, so maybe being a bounty hunter is more of a caste than a job, and the pound is more like an orphanage, unethical caging aside.

Everything terrible that happened to Elain is a direct result of her jumping out the window in the first episode.
She destroyed the generator with her landing, trapping Dento within the elevator. Dento being stuck led to her going up against Gop Donsterly without backup. Because she went in alone, Gop was able to overpower her and send her to the vore dimension to play a quiz game. Losing the quiz game got her sent to the Hunter Pound, which led to the events of this episode.
If she waited for her partner, he might have been able to save her from Gop. Even better, she may not have been swallowed at all. But she got greedy, and went by herself. The horrors that have since befallen her were put in motion by her own hubris.
Amazing analysis, please never say the words "vore dimension" ever again. You may be correct, but that isn't reason to say such a cursed thing

@@da703 Now I wonder if that's what the Elders of Lost Eyes' purpose is: to return the data of the dead back to the universe like a sort of "circle of life" type thing.
Except this time Elain got caught in the crossfire while not actually dead so she's aware of where some of her data went because she's still using it.

Our gun-toting friend gleaned the ability to download data from the recently deceased into himself instead of letting it be claimed by the Elders, while his smiling nemesis instead grew obsessed with encountering them again and so began experimenting with "mind-expanding" hallucinogens on unwilling subjects to see if he could send a living subject into their presence and back to claim all those eldritch secrets for himself.
The mans just casually collects crows for data in the same exact spot for who knows how long to catch criminals
Scarier thing is crows are scary smart -- imagine how smart Vondu actually might be...

I really, really like Vondu as a character. There's just something really intriguing about how he has all that weaponry in his coat, and how he can just stuff people into jars like that. Like all of Gooseworx's characters, he's very expressive and interesting.

A detective who finds criminals by looking at birds' memories is a novel is I'd love to read.
I genuinely feel sad for these characters... especially Elain and Dento. Elain has been forced into a world that she didn't ask for, and Dento is left to wonder what happened to his good friend (possibly lover, but that's for another time). Elain has been through hell and back, literally. She deserves better...
I really hope to see some kind of finale or epilogue where Dento and Elain can have a happy and normal (or as normal as you can get with Goosworx...) life.
It's even more impressive that Goose has managed to create such a vivid and emotional film with almost no dialogue whatsoever. Simply astounding.
I also really like how the scene with the Target Buddy references, or is at least similar to, the scene from The Incredibles. Very nice.

So I’m guessing nuzzner fubs and Elain’s data got integrated into the world’s system which is why at the end we see elain shaped leaves and clouds at the end.

So, weird question. In Elain the Bounty hunter, Elain behaves in a very human manner, and appearance-wise, she seems normal for a pink city resident, albeit VERY resilient and wearing an odd outfit. However, in this video, she ends up in a pound and gets sold to someone as a pet, and she doesn't look too out-of-place among the other "shelter animals".
So, is Elain a person or a pet, and furthermore, what qualifies someone as a person or a pet in this universe?

She was captured as a hunter, then sold to the hunter pound. I think that being sold is part of the risk of being a hunter

It's even more weird once you realise it's Dento's father who sells her to Nuzner Fubbs.
Most irl equivalents in this gooseworx world are slightly skewed, so maybe being a bounty hunter is more of a caste than a job, and the pound is more like an orphanage, unethical caging aside.

I think its just jarring to see yourself in everything, lke if you die no big deal cuz you wont see it, but having a costant reminder of getting sucked into a portal an having your essense get absorbed by the universe cant be good for your mental well being
