Yes I got it from the thrift store for $4! I am so happy you like it and can learn some new stitches from it. Gertrude made you proud 😂 It's an amazing quilt and I'm happy it's in the hands of someone who can appreciate it and yes care for it too. 😂
Oh, my goodness! What a eye candy and so heartwarming! How wonderful to have the letter included with the quilt to know a bit of the history. The stitching is definitely inspiring. Thank you for sharing it and thank you LeaAnn for sending it to Rebecca!
Oh my gosh! Such a beautiful treasure! Thank you so much for sharing. I love seeing the stitches she used. I may be watching this again and pausing when I get to a stitch I may want to try to replicate. Just beautiful just like you!
What a great gift. Think of all the families that have loved this quilt. Too bad the family didn't keep passing it down. Thank you for sharing with us. Beautiful.
@@danceswithpitbulls I'm obsessed with your quilts, but since I can't afford them I'll make them myself in the future. Nice to learn something new. lol ^^
That’s so beautiful! And so sad it hasn’t stayed with the family. It breaks my heart when I see something like this. But I’m happy it’s in good hands now. I love how you talk to Gertrude about her beautiful stitches.
OMG how wonderful!! and to get the letter as well giving you some history behind the quilt. I love the stitching. When you have them figures out Rebecca would you show us how to do them. I have been re-energized to make one of these.
@@danceswithpitbulls I did a search for you, and I discovered that there are passionate people here too, my mum makes woolen blankets to knit, but very simple, www.quiltitalia.it/
Awesome... I want a quiet so bad and nobody will make me one. I used to have one made out of socks wen I was younger but sadly it went away through the years.
I can't be taking my rings off lol ain't nobody got time for that. The only time I take them off is when I get a manicure so I can get the hand massage
So beautiful and emotional too. That bit that was the woman's father's tie and the heart was so sweet. My mom (who is a genius) said something about maybe finding a quilting museum to donate it to (if you would even want to do that!). But she said there's one in Tallahassee so she was wondering if there might be one near you.
Rebecca, first of all, thank you for sharing! Its a beautiful quilt! Stitches are absolutely beautiful! Would be beautiful if you replaced the pieces that deteriorated. Again, thank you for taking your time in showing us the tedious work put into this quilt. Love you Rebecca!
How did she sew the pieces together and attach them to the foundation. Did she have a huge sheet and then sewed them on or did she do blocks? I would like to do one like this but don’t know how to go about the piecing together onto what and how?
she did three big blocks in the middle and smaller blocks on the edges. Looks like she just laid fabrics down and turned the edges under then embroidered them down. Sometimes she basted them down first though.

What an amazing find. I am not sure I could have parted with it.
I love it! $4.00???? OMG who let's stuff go for that lol Oh yeah- I just got a bunch of vintage buttons for $.70 lol
I'm glad she did though lol

I'm still on cloud nine about it!

Thank you Lizzi, you are so encouraging to so many people. I am going to try to figure out some of the stitches but ugh can I?
What a generous gift! If that quilt could only talk.....
Yes, I have so many questions!
What a great gift. Think of all the families that have loved this quilt. Too bad the family didn't keep passing it down. Thank you for sharing with us. Beautiful.
I doubt if my kids will keep my quilts either- well maybe their personal ones but not the others.
Gorgeous. Thank you for the pictures at the end, very nice to see the whole quilt and also more up close. Great job Gertrude!
Yeah it's always nice to see historical crazyy quilts.
Thank you for showing such an old handicraft! It looks like several women worked on it. Wonderful handicrafts!
Thanks for watching! I am obsessed with old crazy quilts, just can't afford them lol

The stitches are so delicate. I need to practice.
I think we all need to practice! I simply cannot get the hang of doing things delicately!
Exquisite embroidery

It is very sad. My kids probably won't want my quilts either to be honest.
So glad the letter stayed with it!
Yeah isn't that amazing ?!?
Wow! It's amazing! What a treasure! The stitching is awesome!
It really is! I hope I can figure out how to do them.
Some I've never seen, should be a fun thing to learn, happy stitching!
Thank you for sharing 😁
You bet! I was so blessed to receive it
Many Many Thanks to you and LeeAnn for sharing this Treasure!

Yes I will show how to do them. I hope I can do them justice.
So beautiful thanks for sharing!!
it's a treasure for sure
Waw!!! 💜
The back fabric look like hemp (麻) fabric kimono my grandmother used to have.
Oh cool! Was is really soft like flannel?
How much work and love in such a work! Precious and you will take care of it!
Thank you, I will. Do they have this type of quilt in Italy?

Look for one at thrift stores, yard sales, Goodwill. Let me know if you get one!
oh my, how very fabulous! thanks for the analysis!
Thanks. I would like to find another one to analyze at some point.
Such a beautiful piece!
I keep hearing Abby Cox saying - rings off so as not to snag anything ;)
I can't be taking my rings off lol ain't nobody got time for that. The only time I take them off is when I get a manicure so I can get the hand massage
Hearing how fragile that fabric was and seeing the ornate rings gave me *stress*.
That is truly awesome.
Stunning!! ❤❤❤
I know right ?!?

Alas, It's not in good enough condition to donate. I'll just hang on to it and try to learn the stitches she used.

My pleasure! Thanks for watching Deborah!
Thank you for sharing this it’s stunning!
You are so welcome!
Note to self: don't use silk! Stunning quilt, exquisite stitching .
Stupid silk. Why does it have to be so beautiful yet so delicate?
