I have a lot of problems with beard dandruff. It was so itchy that I decided to cut my beard off. Now I let it grow back again and see what kind of routine is best for me. I find with my shorter beard it's much easier to maintain. But even with the short beard it pretty hard to get rit of the dandruff
When I apply beard oil my main focus is applying it to the skin underneath the beard. If I do that the rest of the beard will get it's fair share automatically, specially if I finish with a beard comb.
I hate to say it, but I’ve never had the issue of dandruff of any kind and I only drink water or tea, but I also adhere to a Mediterranean diet with lots of olive oil and nuts which I know help with skin and hair health.
Vitamin E oil (15,000 iu). I struggle with it. Tried all the shampoos and different essential oils with no real results. Started using vitamin E oil (as vitamin E difficiency causes a lot of skin issues) and applied it with a q-tip to rub it directly onto the skin. It works Very good! The only issues is its not a solution to rid it completely. It does however keep it under control if applied daily or every other day. The real problem with dandruff goes deeper than just a surface issue. There is a root cause that may br different for each person. It also could be a cronic issue as an autoimmine problem that one might deal with on and off forever. Sad but true.
Dandruff mainly occurs due to oily skin, the dandruff thrives and feasts off your oily skin. So isn't applying oil counterproductive to help getting rid of dandruff? After all you are just giving more food (oil) to the dandruff bacteria to help it grow. I applied oil to my skin under beard and it made my dandruff worse.
Yes. Dandruff due to dry skin happens much less frequently than that due to oily skin. That's why these tips won't work for many people. For oily skin more frequent beard wash with mild shampoo/facewash may be required. And applying shampoo with antifungal agents like zinc Pyrithione etc helps a lot in case of seborrhic dermatitis due to oily skin.
I would not recommend using shampoo on your beard, but rather a premium beard wash that is specifically formulated for your face & beard! On TheBeardBaron.com we sell non scented and scented premium beard washes!
I do have a question because I do have Beard dandruff. I listened to your video, and can honestly say I do what you say to do -- hydrate, wash my beard, use beard wash and beard conditioner, and (despite my dislike for it) I do use beard oil. My question is: Should you only apply beard oil AFTER you shower, OR can you apply beard oil at various times during the day? My "beardruff" is a real PIA and I'm having a real difficult time getting rid of it ......any thoughts?
Beard dandruff is not just caused due to dry skin. It may even happen on an oily skin due to growth of a type of fungus. If you have the latter, oiling will make it worse. You'll have to wash your beard more often. And may have to use shampoos with anti-fungal agents like Zinc Pyrithione etc.
I was prescribed Ketoconazole shampoo by my Dermatologist to use on my beard, I have to use it every day to get rid of this beardruff, or it comes back immediately.@@abhiadi10
If i dont wash my beard everyday my face erupts in breakouts and dandruff. It’s absolute torture. I heard not to wash it so much so i try to skip but its just miserable if i go even one day without washing. I do oils and creams daily though but it doesn’t really help. Does your face get addicted to products or something? What am I missing lol
Plzz hlp mee sir... i have beared some flakes like that... no other area proboems.. only beared flakes.. like danruff..i fear about this.. is it seborroc dermatitis???
Man I’ve done this all. I’ve tried prescription shampoos and everything. But my chin, upper lip, and the tops of my cheeks stay red and itchy and so flakey. If I itch my face with a black shirt on it’s as if it’s snowing. I literally scrub my face so hard getting off the dead skin and put so much product on and it does nothing. I’ve tried the other end of the spectrum and every permutation in between.
Never scrub or use anything abrasive on your face especially if its sensitive im still figuring that out myself the hard way. Yeast is the main factor in my case but still searching for solutions.
Whenever I hear someone start a beard dandruff video with “drink water” I know they’re full of shit and turn the video off. This is the stupidest nonsense.
I just figured this out before I got into the show a few minutes ago, and figured I would share it . If you have a long mustache and use dandruff shampoo - let me tell you how you stop having that nasty taste, all day, after you're done . Before you get into the shower, put about a teaspoon, or less if that is too much, in your mouth and keep it there while you shampoo . After you rinse your hair and mustache, put your hand up against your mustache and spit the baking soda mix into your hand and rub it in your mustache . Of course, if you are not a real man, I guess you could put the baking soda mixture in a cup and do it the sissy way ... After you rinse, there is no trace left to taste or smell .

Dealing with an itchy beard is the worst!

I found that using shampoo with activated charcoal as a core ingredient helped massively

Diet definitely plays a role! That is great you haven’t had to deal with it!
Then why did you watch this video?

Think that is just if you have malassezia which feeds off oily skin and causes dandruff but other stuff can cause dandruff too.
That is partially true but dandruff is a fungal issue and some oils have antifungal properties that wont feed it but kill it.

What kind of shampoo, if you have a brand, should I use or stay away from. Thanks for the info by the way.

I'm lucky I've never hard beard-druff. Even before I started using beard oils, and I live in a very dry climate. I'm chalking it up to good genes lol
You’ve definitely been blessed with good genes!
