      @@georgeyboy8186 how long does it take for it to heat up enough to irritate skin? Maybe try to oil it once in a while to reduce friction.

      @@civoksark yea I oil it enough. Gets hot in the time in takes to clean my neck and neck line up as that’s the only thing I use it for, probably 5 mins. The heat doesn’t bother me as much as the scratching, it’s like as soon as it’s not flat to the skin it scratches me but it won’t get some of my neck hairs when it’s flat to the skin

    I have been trimming my full beard freehand for over 10 years. Because it took so long, I only trimmed the beard every other weekend. So in the second week I always walked around unkempt. Half a year ago I started using this technique (trimmed from top to bottom) and it goes much faster and the result is much more consistent. Personal tip from me: My beard is a little bit curly at the neck line. I use a 9mm attachment to trim the longer hair on the neck line (from above and below, never against the hair growth.) After that I shave the neck line. My beard looks much neater and it's so easy to get the same good result every time.

    Great video! I've had a medium length beard for about 20 yrs and always had issues getting the right look each time I trimmed it. I've gone through various trimmers and trim guides and just couldn't get it right. I almost always resorted to trimming shorter than I wanted and letting it grow back out. Well, I just followed your steps and it's perfect! Now I have the knowledge of which guide to use on which area and can repeat it each time. Thanks for the vid!

    • @casual4069

      After your shower, put beard oil, brush it down and then using a blowdryer and a round brush, roll and brush it to your desired direction. I came up with this solution and after about a year of continuosly doing it, my beard grows without waves anymore and don't need to use blowdryer since it even dries with no waves!

    Any suggestions for shorted beards?
    My beard is naturally VERY curly so I keep it short (any ideas on how to straighten it?)
    And I also have a hard time growing the beard on my cheeks (I have tried just leaving ti alone for a couple weeks during the quarantine and I just couldn’t get good coverage so i shave the cheeks to make the beard itself look better, and if you also have any suggestions for that it would be VERY appreciated)
    So with the curly and the lack of hair on the cheeks I have to keep it short
    I usually use a #4 (1/2”) guard all around, but would like suggestions on styling it better
    Thank you for your time

    Mink thank you for the new video. I have been using your older one as a guide for my trims. Do you put oil and butter in before the trim or just after? I think the hardest part I have is getting the bottom cut right. Do you have any tips for getting the angle done right? About month ago I tilted my head back and went straight in at the bottom the beard. That did not go well and I ended up with a near chin strap that took a long time to fill in. I almost shaved and reset! Not this time, just the walk of shame with a funky beard for a few weeks.

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  3 года назад +1

      Hey brother, thank you for watching. You definitely want to style your beard the way you normally do before you start trimming. I wouldn't go for it right after styling your beard. I would wait for a few hours and then go after it! I would suggest that you try and keep your head in a straight position while trimming to keep it as even as possible!

  • @mike.5428

    I'm not familiar with guard sizes. So when he starts with an (18) and then moves to a (15) for the lower half of the beard, that means he's cutting the lower half shorter and leaving the top half longer, correct? Is that typical for beard trimming? I'm getting ready to trim my _first beard_ ever for the _first time_ after growing for 5 months with this exact trimmer, and I just want to know for sure what I'm doing. I was just under the impression that typically you would go shorter on the top half and leave more length on the bottom half, but I think he's doing the opposite, what is the reason for that?
