I have always been a a whiskey drinker that's why I'm here. Then i started watching the leaf portion of the channel...now I'm a cigar seeker...damn you Siers! I appreciate you making your channel real and honest, unlike some of the channels trying to be like a reality show.

I love when the bottle looks and feels good. The experience of tasting and drinking the whiskey starts with looking at it followed up by feeling it. If The bottle is ugly and it sits weird in your hands then you are already to a rough start to the experience!
$62 is a little on the high side. Here in TN we are paying around $54 out the door. Certainly brings it into the A range. I definitely think it's one of the best pours out there right now. Was excited to see it pop up in this video. Love me some Baker's! And I think someone already explained it, but yes, 13 is a Baker's Dozen. That's why their other Single Barrel is 13 years! 😉 Keep up the great vids, brother!

I'm liking your channel, big guy, your take on this btl. is a 'probably' nxt buy! Nobody else is as clear on it, even older channels. The Whiskey vault really has a nice, in- depth review, but they're considered spirits experts!😂❤ And, you're a cigar lover to 👢 boot!
I just finished a bottle of this about a month ago and it was, I believe 8 years and s6 months as well and I really enjoyed it!! Also 13 is a bakers dozen!! Keep it up man love the videos!!
Just bought this from the liquor supplier in Montreal Canada. 83$ CAD. A bit pricey.
I tried several bourbons and wasn't fond of many of them. Makers Mark wasn't my style, Buffalo creek was tolerable, Bulleit was mediocre, but Knob Creek blew me away. Loved the light spiciness and strong oak. Saw Baker's available so I wanted to see what other bourbon offerings Beam had to offer without spending a small fortune.
First impressions: I think it's noticeable as a beam product, and has that distinctive Beam bourbon flavor, but still distinguishes itself in a few ways: more alcohol/heat, more leather/smoke, more bitterness, but feels less mature and more complex and developed. Mine was barreled for 7 years and 4 months, but drank it at a little over 8 year mark from the "date first barreled".
Overall, I'd still prefer plain 'old Knob Creek. It's cheaper, simpler, and a bit more manageable on alcohol/heat. Better as a daily drink. Not a fan of Baker's, it's too bitter, spicy, and alcohol forward. Couldn't finish an entire glass (~1.5 Oz).
A bit of water seems to bring out the sweeter and vanilla aromas.
I did notice that bourbons (especially Knob Creek) can develop after they're opened and they get sweeter and more mellow. We'll see how Baker's develops given time and oxygen. Might work well in a cocktail, given it's high alcohol, heat, and strong flavors.
Picked up a bottle of Russels Reserve single barrel today because of last week. Loving this series.

OF1920 and ECBP are two of the best bourbons for the money you can buy!! Hands down. And for $65, very hard to beat either. Haven’t tried the Bakers yet. Saw it today but got a store pick Knob Creek bottled at 120 proof and 15 year for $45. Very good as well.

It’s a Legent bottle with a metal stopper. I agree, much better than the “wine bottle”, no question about it.

I had a bottle of this about 4 months ago and did not care for it, very heavy cinnamon flavor. Love your videos.
On my bottle I get citrus or lemonade on the finish. Love it! A bit expensive but it’s one that will always be on my shelf. It’s getting hard to find though
I recently tried this at a bar and fell in love with it! Was able to find me a bottle last week and can't wait to pop it! I thought the 107 proof was perfect. Great review!

Loved the review. I'm fairly new to sipping bourbon and I like to compare them when I have a drink. Tonight I had some Old Forester 1920, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and the Baker's 107 Single Barrel. They're all really good, and this can hang with any of them. Not the best of the bunch, but definitely a contender. Russell's Reserve and Rare Breed tied for first.

Damn, killed another review! This is one have yet to find and try but definitely look forward to it. I think a blind Whiskey stream may be in order for you to see what you like, don't like and why. As for availability on this one, hopefully you’ll see it soon. When I went hunting for this a few weeks back I had to drive all over to get it. The other day I was out and I saw it everywhere. So maybe the distribution is starting to get better. That being said, if ya can’t get it I can always send ya a sample. 😉👍🏻

Want to try this. Funky isn't necessarily bad either. I have a Westward Single Malt whiskey from Portland OR that has a strong funky ale flavor, like aged Newcastle or something...but I love it! If you haven't tried it, see if you can get your hands on a bottle. Total might have it for about $70
Today, whisk(e)y, next it's rum. I'm waiting for tequila! I know it's a 100 degree difference, but it still deserves some love, and, to keep the "Barrel" in "Leaf and Barrel", how about a good to great Anejo?

Great assessment of this. I dont get quite the fruit notes that you do though. I get more of a "breadiness" and a little of that Beam nutiness. Agree that there are better choices in this price range.

Distribution has been slow to roll this out until the old $40, 7yo clears out so TW may have had it but saving what they got for "certain" customers, I'm starting to run into that more and more.

This is my first-ever bottle of Baker's. Found it by chance.
If you can find it (I think they sell it in Florida) try Monkey Rum. Its an aged spiced rum, pretty unique but delicious.

Thinking I like Baker's 7 more than EJ BP. Ok fair EJBP is substantially higher proof. Great video have been enjoying the same with you watching and cigars too. Baker's is creamy but as you said very balanced - wrote that in my notes after watching. Good stuff.

Interesting that you mention banana and Old Forester. That's from their yeast, and if you ever do a tour there, you can actually taste the mash where it is totally banana dominant. After tasting the mash, I can pick out OF from any lineup! I know your doing baker's, but just thought the banana topic was intriguing.
Yeah, it was throwing me off a little. I’m use to getting a little of that banana in Brown Foreman products, but this being Beam was throwing me off. 😉

The old Baker’s was a solid bourbon at the $50 price point. The new one isn’t as good (to me, at least), and costs more like $65. I can still find the old one (still for $50, too), so I may buy one last bottle before they all disappear. I dig the new bottle design, though.
The quest makes the bourbon tastier. Haha. Hopefully...

Recently had some Jamaican rum (flown in straight from Jamaica from a family member, good ole local still) can’t remember the name but boy was is great stuff, none of that coconut stuff though I like the darkest of rum! “Drinking Rum before noon makes you a pirate not an alcoholic*”

It’s funny. I had to hunt for this bottle, but that was a couple weeks ago. The other day I went out and saw it everywhere. We must have gotten some shipments sent down this way or something.

2nd Update: finished the bottle. I enjoyed it, but much like Jeremy states, it probably is overpriced. If it was $40-50 it’d be a “always on the bar”, at $60, its just a bit too high. The bottle is great though

Sometimes the total wine people are lazy. I asked for Shackeltons once and said "there's a box right up there" and they said they didn't have it. I went to someone else, they said "oh, looks like we don't have it" I said "there's a box right there" and they got it down, sure enough!
