Thank you so much for your videos! I am a high school Spanish teacher and with this year being a combination of in person and online, it has been nice to share your video explanations with my classes in addition to my own. We have nicknamed you ¨our Spanish southern uncle.¨
Wonderful! Thank you so much for the support and sharing with the kidos!
Quite interesting that the word "se" is used in the passive voice context. I'm noticing "se" is a tricky word to contextualize. Thanks as always; paz y bendiciones!
I have been trying to learn spanish online from the time our country (India) got into nation-wide locked down. It was only today that I found out your videos. Since our lockdown is now probably going to be extended till next month, I want to see all your previous videos also. I hope I learn to speak at least some spanish by next month 🤞
Nice

Another great lesson Thank you
wow. a whole new help from you señor. saludos desde filipinas
Saludos! Glad I can help.
Can you upload viedo about the words "here, over here, over there -- ahí, aquí, allí ...." muchas gracias.
After some time today I have discovered that in the passive the past participle matches the subject in gender and number. This is a thing overlooked or under explained in the congugation book and websites I use.
i was confused by that too and looking through the comments if anyone discusses that. Now that you solved my problem.
i was sooooo freaking confused thanks for mentioning this
maybe because we used the verb ser instead of haber, like in french “être” and “avoir”, être matches the subject when avoir doesn’t. but i may be wrong 😊
Mucho gracias profesor Evans. soy Jatin de India.
Plz do a lesson on phrases. I observed they are quite unique and different - involving como, tanto, que , and many such...
Those will good addition to vocab
Nice to meet you! Thanks for the idea!
Gracias señor

Hola Dr.Danny, encantada de conocerte, me llamo Kleanna Lujille. Tengo ocho anos. Vivo en camarin, caloocan city. I have been learning a lot of spanish and I also think that you are the best teacher ever in the youtube, because I think the others are too fast, too slow or they don't explain it properly.
Can you please do a video on adjectives? I would like to practice my spanish on them.
thank you for this helpful episode. :)
Wow, ocho años?! Btw soy charlize de ciudad Marikina, y tengo diecinueve años
thank you so much! I was struggling with my lesson, but this was so easy to understand
Common phrasal verbs in Spanish would be a great lesson. Perhaps idiomas also.
Sir Your classes are just amazing.I have learnt a lot from your class.Thank you so much Sir.Sir could you please make a video on present and past perfect tense of passive voice in Spanish.
Thanks a lot! Great video.
Best spanish teacher on the net, thanks so much for these! Iv just discovered your podcast as well so looking forward to getting started on that!
Welcome aboard!
When I first read in a book: "En el otoño se recogen las frutas como las manzanas..." I thought:
"Hm...fruit doesn't usually collect themselves. That's weird. So it must mean 'fruits like apples are collected in autumn'". And suddenly it made sense! :D
It’s not so much reading it that’s the issue, it’s using it correctly. Bc in English at least in regards to the passive se voice we use they. So that’s how I read it and it makes sense. Se habla español my mind says they speak Spanish. So no big deal, but for me it’s when to use the passive se. It will come in time with enough input, but it’s tricky. Awesome lesson though
SO MANY SEs! 😀. Can you do a video on the "accidental se" as well? this was great
Gracias
Sound became way better, Steady so!
Amaaaazing teaching technique and talent 👏🏻thank you. May i ask if you offer online tutoring?
Gracias!
Excellent explanation. That's why you're a PhD 👏
Hola, @TheLanguageTutor,
Can you help settle a dispute?
In this recent NYTimes headline, "Caucus de Iowa: esto es lo que puede esperarse la noche del lunes" (Iowa Caucuses: Here's what to expect Monday night), is "se" in "esperarse" passive, or impersonal? Or neither?
And, just so I understand, if it’s the impersonal se, how would the sentence change if it used the passive se? And vice versa?
Really sorry to come to you with this but you're one of the few tutors that can clear this up :)
Gracias.
nice
Could pescado be treated as a "count down" per the Negation lesson or would that be overkill? Great lesson. Thanks.
Is the lesson related to indicative? Because I see "-ado" and "-ido" used
maybe
I think you are referring to Lessons 55 and 57 regarding the past participle. Could you please explain why you did not use “ido” with “construir” or “ado” with “cocinar”?
Can there be a lesson on:
Capitalized words in Spanish.
Hey can you do a video on use of SE plz
Check out this video and the one on reflexive.
@@TheLanguageTutor okay,thank you very much
Thanks for another nice video 😊 Prof Evans.
I am a little confused here that how are the verb-tense conjugations work in the ser+participio construction?
I have watched in a video that the reason se is used in passive voice sentences is because of the secret subject. For example: the sentece "se habla espanol" has actually a secret subject "la gente" so it is "La gente se habla espanol" meaning "People speak to eachother in Spanish". But what I don't understand is that if that is case why do we conjugate the verb based on the object like "Se hablan espanol y ingles" if there is a secret subject. Any explanation?
Thank you for another great lesson. It got a little confusing after the 6.18 mark when you started to go into the second version of passive voice as i dont fully understand the conditions of when this will be used? only in shop windows and when referring to markets? its not very clear for me but thank you, you are a great teacher!
I use the passive voice when asking questions
Donde se encuentra ...?
Donde se compra...?
I’m no teacher. I may be wrong
@@memowilliam9889 i’ll test your theory with some native friends😂👍🏻thanks for the advice
Can somebody tell me which lesson is about "Past participle"? I already forget
Great lesson like always👏👏☺
But when are you going to teach us "French " ??
We are shooting for early to mid June to release French.
@@TheLanguageTutor thats gonna be great. You will make new RUclips Channel or will be putting in the same?
@@TheLanguageTutor wow!!
in which tense was the vende conjugated in
It is true that there are actually many people who watch language teaching vids to learn the language used during class and not the language being taught. 🤣
If the past participle (ado / ido) is used in passive voice, why is it not: “Se hablado Español.” or “Se venido pedcado en el mercado.”?
Hi , Danny , hope you are doing well .I think it will be ' concinado' in place of 'concinada' in the sentence 'meal was cooked by my father' in past participle or some other rule is being followed here which I dont know .Kindly correct me.
Good question. In this case, the word is modifying a feminine word so it has to be "cocinada." It's actually called a predicative adjective in that sentence. If it were simply used as a past participle (I have cooked), it would be "cocinado."
I dont know when to use the passive ser+participale when to use the passive se
Can u explain
Thanks Danny. Is there any difference between this and the "verbs like gustar" which I perceive to be passive voice also? As I perceive it " verbs like gustar" must always be in passive form. Also getting my head around the sentence " the book was written by her" with word fue and the 3rd person singular preterite escrito, I am unfamilar with3rd person singular
I am unfamiliar with the use of the verb fue with other verbs that are not gerund form.
Passive verbs in English. I hade never thought about them until now "it is written, it was written, it will be written, it has been written, it had been written, it will have been written " these are the possible combinations I think.
www.english-grammar-revolution.com/passive-verbs.html and about Spanish www.english-grammar-revolution.com/passive-verbs.html
The verb escrito is past participle and not 3rd person single pretérito.
69th video! noice
sir when are you going to do the verb faltar
I dont understand why every verb taking -ido -ada but some like taking -ito . Like escrito?
I understand the first one, but not the second one. I just don’t get it??
How, what makes it passive?
Thank you
Is this the reason why we say,
"Me duele la cabeza." ?
hello
why its cocinada intstead of cocinado?
Also isn't it suppose to be "una casa"?
Clear but how do we change to verb 3 as in english.
I need to know the past particple in order to use it with passive sentences.
100th comment
5:38 why escrito?? Not escrido?
I thought Spanish has no passive voice or they don't use it when they talk or write..
Why we cant use escribia instead escribio? Ella feminem, ok its past
bro learn Spanish
Nice
