my first exposure to HotD was going to an arcade for my 11th birthday and playing HotD3 with some random older boy i met, who had previously dropped a whole roll of quarters to play the game. all my friends who’d come for my birthday party were playing mini-golf, go karts, and bumper cars downstairs, but all i wanted to do was play video games. it was the coolest and scariest game I’d ever seen up to that point, and I asked the boy if I could be play with him, and he was really cool and said yeah! we played for what felt like an hour and a half, taking different routes in the levels and dying at a few points just to pop in some more quarters and play again. i felt like i made a friend that day. This video makes me miss being a kid, going to an arcade and making new friends over silly zombie games.

House of the dead 2, an arcade perfect on dreamcast - made better with the light guns. Epic game for epic times. Thankyou Patman for another excellent documentary. You are the man in PatMan. Thankyou sir of sirs.

Fully agreed. Light-gun games make for some of the most fun I've had in any arcade, the Saturn's Virtua Gun is peak peripheral design, and nobody makes games like SEGA.
That was a very well done and thorough examination of the entire series. I've played most of the older ones, the most recent one being Overkill. I didn't know about any of the stuff that came after. HOTD2 was the streetfighter 2 of light gun games. The game was a benchmark for the genre, a pinnacle for the series, influenced many light gun games that came after it and the game that made SEGA a lot of money but had the most spin offs surrounding the title. While the other games in the series was good they lack what made HOTD2 great especially if you owned a dreamcast where it was a highly addictive game to play. Thx for the compilation documentary mr Patman.
