Yes, I have seen a few people buying the larger blades in Screwfix. I often ask the people if they are happy with the machines and everyone seems to be.
I bought this today, partly from Internet reviews, mostly because of this video. The saw is quite incredible, accurate after checking right out of the box, and cuts easily, with minimal effort, clean and precise. Even the laser is aligned central to the blade. Thank you ever so much for the demonstration. Ive been contemplating buying a circular or mitre saw but this one has definitely scored huge points for being able to cut through metal. Ive never actually used a mitre (or circular for that matter) and your video has given me some confidence to use one with ease
@ harry lewis Sorry Harry, I have never used their stand as I have my own Dewalt stand (which I use with the Evolution sliding mitre saw). I obviously cannot recommend something that I have never tried, but for the money it looks like it will do the job.
I've been using this on a kitchen install for the last few weeks. It has been a god send for cutting all of the aluminium trim and aluminium plinths etc. I love this saw, but you do need good hearing protection and safety glasses when cutting metals 👍
Ultimate Handyman yes I think they are I can compare them to dewalt etc and I think as you...workout splitting hairs about this and that they are great for the money and mine has lasted years and the blades are cheap and as you show very versatile
I want a saw to cut 4inch plastic soil pipe, but these saws have no 'depth' to them.. would it cut half way through, and keep turning it round to cut the rest?

Excellent demonstration, however I have an evolution stealth 210 special edition, looks nothing like the other stealth but exactly the same a s the Rage 3 you have demonstrated any idea?
They don't make the stealth models anymore. Hi and many thanks for your time producing this really useful tutorial. I have just had this delivered today and I wanted it mainly for 7" skirting and 90mm plaster coving. The skirting is fine, I'll clamp it to the right hand side like you show, although being right handed, I would of much preferred to of been able to clamp it on the left hand side, but If the left hand support is in place, you cannot tilt the blade all the way to the left for a 45 degree mitre as the handle touches it. If the item needing supporting is only about 6mm thick, then the support clears the handle, but 20mm skirting, no chance. This means that like you explained very clearly, to have it held in place, you need to hold it manually with your hand and bearing in mind that your line of sight to the cut from the left, is massively obscured, loss of limb is inevitable.But can you suggest how I cut 90mm plaster coving, mainly because the back fence is only 45mm high. Also I’m trying to loosen and tighten the two left hand fence screws in the elongated slots to square up the blade which is out by 2mm, but as I can’t seem to remove the top sliding fence, I’m trying to work out how I can get the Allen key into the top of the screw as the fence is blocking my access to it. Many thanks in advanced
I would not cut any plaster products on this saw to be honest, or any electric saw for that matter. I'd just use a cheap mitre block and old wood saw for the coving, as it will go everywhere and dull the blade. @@ultimatehandyman I've already watched this excellent video thanks, but the fence only slides over to the left a certain amount, not all the way off, which ins't enough to give me access to the far left hand screw. Regarding the coving, it seems like I might of wasted my money then, because as I mentioned purchasing this saw was mainly only for coving and skirting and I even ordered a fine 40 tooth wood blade, but I'd rather play safe with power tools and as I've also seen mentioned lots of times. the dust extraction doesn't seem to be very good, how do you find it.
@@Bassmunchkin1 I'll have a look at mine the next time I'm in the garage (if I remember). I hook mine up to the shop vacuum, but the dust extraction is not great, I think it's much better on my Dewalt, but that was at least twice as expensive and can't cut metal.

***** Wow. That's a huge help - thank you for going to all the effort to make that. Mine was just a couple of mm out but when I came to put up some stud walls in the attic it was driving me crazy. Really enjoy your videos: the plumbing ones are a great help - saves me money and no leaks yet (fingers crossed). I probably shouldn't admit it, but the 'putting up plasterboard with foam' video is also a big favorite, just because that's the kind of thing that always seems to happen to me. I'm not sure, without digging it out. You only need the laser when aligning the cut though, just align the laser with the cut line, then make the cut. Personally I don't use the laser, as it's a bit of a gimmick, I just align the edge of the saw blade with the cut line. Thanks for the comment
Thanks for the video, I've watched lots of your review etc. and they're very thorough and great. Can you tell me what the width of the actual blade is please? I have 8' lengths of 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/8" angle aluminum to cut. They're about 96-3/16th inch (or just barely under that) and I want to get three 32" lengths out of it, without using a hacksaw and getting un-square ends. Would the kerf measurement essentially be the same exact measurement as the blade thickness? Thanks very much.

Hy, seen your video on evolution rage 3 mitre saw. Look great. but can you tell me the difference between the rage3-s 210m and the rage3 255m? as the second is a extra £50. Is it just the width of materials it can cut? thanks
+scott mclean Hi Scott, it's just the size of the blade (and machine). The Rage 3s-210 has a 210mm blade and the Rage 3 s has a 255mm blade. The Rage 3 (255) can cut thicker materials in cross cuts, mitre cuts and bevel cuts. It can also cut wider pieces of material. For the sake of £50 I'd get the bigger one to be honest- these are very good machines!
+RR SS It's the blade and the gearbox. I'm afraid you can only use these blades on Evolution machines due to the amount of torque and the blade speed etc. Thanks for the comment ;-)
other brands have similar blades, marketed as a metal cutting blade. I am sure they will do fine cutting through timber as well. I wasn't really impressed by the clean-es of the timber cuts. I think that's due to the low RPM of the blade. As I am seeking rugged all round miter-saw to buy for professional purposes. The only brands that have variable speed are Festool and Bosch and are 3 times the prices of the "rage' excluding the metal-blade.... hi do you find that when cutting there is a kick back vibration it is almost like as if the blade was not truly round i have been told that it is the blade jumping out of the cut on metal and lube on the cut will stop this is this correct thanks ian
Hi Ian, No I have not had that happen to me yet. Is the blade and especially the teeth in good condition? (no missing teeth etc.) I have cut a fair few pieces of unistrut with it a few days back and never had any problems, I also cut some 10mm thick aluminium and it cut through it like it was butter.

+Michał B You should just be able to plug the machine into the mains, then press the trigger to start it. If that does not work have you checked the fuse?

Yes, this is the single bevel model. The advantage of the double bevel version, is that you can flip the blade over to the other side to cut an opposite bevel. With this machine you have to move the work-piece to the other side of the blade. Thanks for the comment 👍
Hi Stuart, I have turned down the noise for the video. When cutting wood the saw is not too bad, but it's really noisy when cutting metal, so hearing protection is a must. I love this saw BTW, it is great ;-) Thanks for the comment 👍
Exceptional video. very helpful. can i ask your advice please? i am seriously looking at the evolution rage 3 mitre saw after seeing your review, but i want to get a mite/ table saw combined. Have you any advice or recommendations? I am in college studying site joinery and carpentry and think this could save me carrying two different saws. +scott mclean Thanks Scott. I'm not well clued up on table saws because I really don't have the room for one. I do have the Evolution table saw but because my garage is so small I have only used it twice. I do know a builder that has the Dewalt flip over saw, but they are very expensive! Have you considered getting a mitre saw and then a circular track saw and a couple of trestles? I'm thinking that would be much easier to carry, but I'm not sure if that could do the job that you will be doing with the table saw! As for a £100 combination machine I think you are right, I would not expect much at all for that much money.
Brilliant saw. I had the saw and the circular saw from screwfix cos they had them both on offer at the time. I to cut unistrut with this saw and it did it like a hot knife through butter. Well impressive bit of kit for the price :)
It's great. This is the first machine I reach for when cutting wood or metal. I don't do any really accurate woodworking though and only cut timber for decking/stud work and building etc. This machine is perfect for what I do ;-)
Would you recommend this saw for cutting just metal because I would like the extra length that the rails give compared to the cut off saw. Just wondering if it would be up to the task of just metal.
The Rage 2 is better because of the larger blade but this machine still cuts metal easily. I have used it a few times since making the video for cutting metal and it has been fine. Hello. Congratulations for the review. I have the same cutter too. I have to cut hardened and ground stainless steel bars 8mm in diameter. Can I do it with the standard blade? How do you advise me to keep the bars in place? Thank you.

Hi Neil, No coolant is necessary with any of Evolution's metal cutting saws. The blades are made from materials that require no coolant. It's amazing to cut metal with no heat and hardly any sparks. Thanks for the comment

I have that very saw, it must be quite old now, I've had mine for ~3 years, although there has been a slight revision in that time as mine has fixed fences at the back, but they are angled to 45 so don't need to be moved. Great bit of kit, I've laid several floors and decks with no problem :)
I'm still using the original one, I've only cut wood and laminate to date, and it still makes a good cut. Last weekend I built a large bench in the garden and the cuts looked very clean.
excuse me but why wont you cut aluminium with resin disk? im buying my first angle grinder next week and the guy at the tool store i went to said i can do it no problem. btw, ive watched your video on using the cordless drill right and ive been using the torque all wrong. your videos are always fantastic to watch and very helpful. i watch the everything just cause its fun to... even if its not relevant to me.
Thanks for watching the videos ;-) Abrasive disks that you use with an angle grinder are made from Aluminium oxide, so they should not be used to cut Aluminium (although they will probably work). If you really need to cut aluminium using a grinder you should use a stone cutting disk which is made from silicon carbide, but the dust generated when cutting aluminium with a resin disk is dangerous, it can be toxic and also explosive in the right conditions.
I have one to partner my Festool Kapex - apparently I can cut steel and aluminium on the Kapex but there's no way I ever would. This saw is one vicious bastard - and that's why I like it. I wouldn't use it for precision carpentry but for the nasty, dirty jobs like cutting mild steel it's ideal. LOUD though. It's the saw equivalent of a Motorhead concert - it eats metal like Iron Man
Have you cut Stainless Steel with this machine? Looking for a decent saw for cutting SS bar. Currently 3/8" material but in the future I could see up to 1". Do you feel it can effectively handle that material?
Joseph La Macchia No, this machine is only to be used on mild steel and non ferrous metals. Evolution do make a special blade for cutting stainless steel, but I don't think it's available for this machine and might only be available for their professional "steel" range of saws. If I cut stainless at work I normally use the metal cutting band saw, as it does a great job of cutting stainless.

Thanks very much for the review. I'm hoping to pick up a used one of these in the next couple of days. In very good condition and only £70, less than half price. I'm quite excited - my first power saw! :) (I really need to get a circular as well and hopefully will get a DeWalt soon, but this used mitre came up first and didn't want to miss a good deal.) One question: am I right that I can use the depth cutting feature to cut trenches/dados? Potentially with multiple passes if it's wide. So that I could make a slot that another piece of wood can slot into?
Oh and thanks for linking that Evo Outlet store in the other comments - I'd somehow missed it when searching for these machines. And now I look I see they're doing used Rage 3 255 for £72 including 90 days warranty. I might have to go there instead of getting this used one off Gumtree. Both are used but manufacturer re-conditioned and 90 day warranty are quite reassuring!
The blade on mine isn't square when it's set at zero. How can I adjust it? I don't want to have to check it on a set square and make small adjustments every time I return it to 0º cut... thanks
It shows you how to adjust the squareness of the blade and the fence on pages 23-25 of the instructions, once you have done it you should not need to do it again for a long time. You will need a square to set the adjustment BTW. If you don't have your manual let me know and I'll type the instructions here (might be a while before I get time to do it)
Yes, but you have to ensure you get the correct size blade as it can be confusing as they make the same model machine with two different sized blades (I got confused when writing the title for this video). I do have a diamond blade for this machine but not the tile cutting one. I will try the blade I have in the next few months. Thanks for the comment
Its a great machine except that when using the right hand work clamp it fouls on the motor and wont give a full cut. I noticed you using the R.H. clamp but you stopped short of making a cut.
I only used the right handed clamp as it was closest to the camera and easier to film. You are right, it will foul the motor if you use it- unless you are doing a bevel cut.

Disappointed with mine. There is far too much play on the up/down swivel joint and no way of adjusting it. I didn't use it much over the last two years but that I am starting to get into hobby stuff and need more accuracy I've notice the tremendous movement on the hinged part. It was ok for rough stuff but now that I'm doing higher standard work I can't use if for repeatability. Just checked my warranty to and found out it is three years so I'm going to see about upgrading but not sure what too.

I purchased one of these saws, I need to cut round aluminum stock but I find on my 14" saw I must be careful to lock down my workpiece, if not it binds the blade from movement. What's the best method to secure metal round rod & tube on this saw?
good review i hope you have more luck with yours than i have with mine,i have a couple of issues the first is i had to re-drill the the fence as it was impossible to line the fence with the blade second fault i now have is to much play when cutting wood if i hold the handle i can move the saw side to side i have have stripped it down and looked at every thing including the linear bearings all seems fine i have adjusted the grub screws on the rails but as soon as the movement goes you cant slide it this so frustrating,how much side to side play does your saw have when you hold the handle and try to move side to side?
I don't think there is any sideways movement on mine. I've had no issues at all with mine to be honest. If I were you I'd get in touch with Evolution and tell them your problems. Thanks for the comment
Thank God I watched this before I ordered one that trigger would drive me nuts I like the change in the hand position especially with a slider though. PS cutting nails is something that just about any saw can do it has more to do with the blade and I would definitely avod it no matter what they say it's going to dull the blade no matter what.
Please help. I was setting up my new saw (same as this) Set the square against the left side of the blade and the rear fence it was a few degrees out BUT the other side appears to be spot on ????
Hi, thanks for the reply, The fence has adjustment / lock down bolts on both sides but it is a ONE piece cast unit. The video you linked was helpful but it was for Blade to bed 90 alignment.
Sorry, I have made so many videos that I forget what exactly is in each one. Have you checked the casting using a straight edge? Perhaps the casting is not straight.

You can get other blades that fit it. I just bought a Trend one for the Rage 5 table saw, but I had to get a reducing ring as well. You have to make sure that the blade speed is compatible with the machine though.

I have used other blades on mine even cheap Parkside ones from Lidl (they don't last long) as long as they are the same size you are fine so the Dewalt blade will be grand.

+Ultimate Handyman I meant to ask at the time, how do you find the dust collection on this? it doesnt look too good. On mine, the dust collection is pretty much non existent and its such a hassle doing any sort of repetitive cutting as it just leaves the place a mess. I just dont bother collecting my vacuum to it anymore as it makes no difference. its actually pushing me to sell it and go for a makita or dewalt now
+joeshaft The dust collection is not great, but having spoken to a few woodworkers that have said that dust collection is never great on any mitre saw. I think it's better on the Dewalt though as there is a dust collection port right where the blade ejects the chips and saw dust.
This thing is bloody brilliant. Only downside is this one comes with a 110V plug fitted on to the cable, so a transformer is required to get it working. Regardless, I think this is a great machine!
a local big box store was demo'ing this mitre saw with a company Rep present. So I wanted to really see what it's capable of, so I got a piece of Rigid conduit and brought it over. The Rep said sure no problem, we can cut that. When he did, the teeth on the blade started ricocheting in every direction like an IRA pipe bomb just went off. Forget about cutting metal, you're risking serious injury !!!!
These machines cut metal absolutely no problem at all, I have honestly cut loads of steel on them. Did the guy clamp the conduit down properly? I have seen people trying to cut steel bars that rotate using an angle grinder and that had caused the disc to explode as the bar has rotated with the disc.
It was a rigid conduit pipe, rigid is high tinsel strength metal. It's not typical metal, only a chop saw can cut them. It was quite the thing watching teeth from the blade ricocheting like an IED exploding. Yes it was clamped.

this saw is fantastic for us tradies, i got it for £99 from screwfix and the table it was sat on (keter) for £50 good deal i say its paid for itself now a good 10 times over

Are the sparks that you can see inside the motor at 4:46 from the material being cut ? Or the brushes ? Can some one explain TIA
It might be the motor sparking, it is quite normal for some motors to spark, even some cordless drills etc.

Excellent demonstration, however I have an evolution stealth 210 special edition, looks nothing like the other stealth but exactly the same a s the Rage 3 you have demonstrated any idea?
They don't make the stealth models anymore. I bought one of those years ago and had to send it back

If yours is cutting straight, you should be able to cut wood, metal and plastic with the supplied blade.

Hi and many thanks for your time producing this really useful tutorial. I have just had this delivered today and I wanted it mainly for 7" skirting and 90mm plaster coving. The skirting is fine, I'll clamp it to the right hand side like you show, although being right handed, I would of much preferred to of been able to clamp it on the left hand side, but If the left hand support is in place, you cannot tilt the blade all the way to the left for a 45 degree mitre as the handle touches it.
If the item needing supporting is only about 6mm thick, then the support clears the handle, but 20mm skirting, no chance. This means that like you explained very clearly, to have it held in place, you need to hold it manually with your hand and bearing in mind that your line of sight to the cut from the left, is massively obscured, loss of limb is inevitable.But can you suggest how I cut 90mm plaster coving, mainly because the back fence is only 45mm high.
Also I’m trying to loosen and tighten the two left hand fence screws in the elongated slots to square up the blade which is out by 2mm, but as I can’t seem to remove the top sliding fence, I’m trying to work out how I can get the Allen key into the top of the screw as the fence is blocking my access to it.

I would not cut any plaster products on this saw to be honest, or any electric saw for that matter. I'd just use a cheap mitre block and old wood saw for the coving, as it will go everywhere and dull the blade.

@@ultimatehandyman I've already watched this excellent video thanks, but the fence only slides over to the left a certain amount, not all the way off, which ins't enough to give me access to the far left hand screw.
Regarding the coving, it seems like I might of wasted my money then, because as I mentioned purchasing this saw was mainly only for coving and skirting and I even ordered a fine 40 tooth wood blade, but I'd rather play safe with power tools and as I've also seen mentioned lots of times. the dust extraction doesn't seem to be very good, how do you find it.
@@Bassmunchkin1 I'll have a look at mine the next time I'm in the garage (if I remember). I hook mine up to the shop vacuum, but the dust extraction is not great, I think it's much better on my Dewalt, but that was at least twice as expensive and can't cut metal.

Handyman when you use the laser- it seems as if the saw when pulled down blocks it? Or are you still able to see it?
I'm not sure, without digging it out. You only need the laser when aligning the cut though, just align the laser with the cut line, then make the cut. Personally I don't use the laser, as it's a bit of a gimmick, I just align the edge of the saw blade with the cut line.

Can you tell me what the width of the actual blade is please? I have 8' lengths of 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/8" angle aluminum to cut. They're about 96-3/16th inch (or just barely under that) and I want to get three 32" lengths out of it, without using a hacksaw and getting un-square ends. Would the kerf measurement essentially be the same exact measurement as the blade thickness?

I believe the kerf to be 1.7mm, which will be slightly wider than the blade itself as the tungsten teeth are slightly wider.

You can get a replacement blade for about £30 on ebay. I am not sure how long the blades last as I have never had to replace one yet- sorry!
I spoke the the Evolution guys yesterday at Screwfix live in Manchester. The blade will out last about 20 abrasive disks.

Hi Scott, it's just the size of the blade (and machine). The Rage 3s-210 has a 210mm blade and the Rage 3 s has a 255mm blade.
The Rage 3 (255) can cut thicker materials in cross cuts, mitre cuts and bevel cuts. It can also cut wider pieces of material.
For the sake of £50 I'd get the bigger one to be honest- these are very good machines!

It's the blade and the gearbox. I'm afraid you can only use these blades on Evolution machines due to the amount of torque and the blade speed etc.

other brands have similar blades, marketed as a metal cutting blade.
I am sure they will do fine cutting through timber as well.
I wasn't really impressed by the clean-es of the timber cuts.
I think that's due to the low RPM of the blade.
As I am seeking rugged all round miter-saw to buy for professional purposes.
The only brands that have variable speed are Festool and Bosch and are 3 times the prices of the "rage' excluding the metal-blade....

You should just be able to plug the machine into the mains, then press the trigger to start it. If that does not work have you checked the fuse?

No, I'm afraid the Evolution machines have high-torque gear boxes for cutting tough materials like metal.

Yes, this is the single bevel model.
The advantage of the double bevel version, is that you can flip the blade over to the other side to cut an opposite bevel. With this machine you have to move the work-piece to the other side of the blade.

Hi Stuart, I have turned down the noise for the video. When cutting wood the saw is not too bad, but it's really noisy when cutting metal, so hearing protection is a must. I love this saw BTW, it is great ;-)

I'm not well clued up on table saws because I really don't have the room for one. I do have the Evolution table saw but because my garage is so small I have only used it twice. I do know a builder that has the Dewalt flip over saw, but they are very expensive!
Have you considered getting a mitre saw and then a circular track saw and a couple of trestles?
I'm thinking that would be much easier to carry, but I'm not sure if that could do the job that you will be doing with the table saw!
As for a £100 combination machine I think you are right, I would not expect much at all for that much money.

Brilliant saw. I had the saw and the circular saw from screwfix cos they had them both on offer at the time. I to cut unistrut with this saw and it did it like a hot knife through butter. Well impressive bit of kit for the price :)

It's great. This is the first machine I reach for when cutting wood or metal.
I don't do any really accurate woodworking though and only cut timber for decking/stud work and building etc.

Would you recommend this saw for cutting just metal because I would like the extra length that the rails give compared to the cut off saw. Just wondering if it would be up to the task of just metal.
The Rage 2 is better because of the larger blade but this machine still cuts metal easily. I have used it a few times since making the video for cutting metal and it has been fine.

Hi, No you can only cut mild steel with this blade. For tougher steels/stainless you are better off using a cutting disc in a grinder.
Great revue as usual, is there no need for any cutting fluid with this saw and if not, would you know the reason why? I have seen some saws using graphite sticks. N.
Hi Neil, No coolant is necessary with any of Evolution's metal cutting saws. The blades are made from materials that require no coolant. It's amazing to cut metal with no heat and hardly any sparks.

I have that very saw, it must be quite old now, I've had mine for ~3 years, although there has been a slight revision in that time as mine has fixed fences at the back, but they are angled to 45 so don't need to be moved.
Great bit of kit, I've laid several floors and decks with no problem :)

I'm still using the original one, I've only cut wood and laminate to date, and it still makes a good cut. Last weekend I built a large bench in the garden and the cuts looked very clean.

Abrasive disks that you use with an angle grinder are made from Aluminium oxide, so they should not be used to cut Aluminium (although they will probably work). If you really need to cut aluminium using a grinder you should use a stone cutting disk which is made from silicon carbide, but the dust generated when cutting aluminium with a resin disk is dangerous, it can be toxic and also explosive in the right conditions.
I have one to partner my Festool Kapex - apparently I can cut steel and aluminium on the Kapex but there's no way I ever would. This saw is one vicious bastard - and that's why I like it. I wouldn't use it for precision carpentry but for the nasty, dirty jobs like cutting mild steel it's ideal. LOUD though. It's the saw equivalent of a Motorhead concert - it eats metal like Iron Man

No the slide is perfectly smooth, but when cutting metal etc. you have to be careful, not to force the blade too quickly.

Have you cut Stainless Steel with this machine? Looking for a decent saw for cutting SS bar. Currently 3/8" material but in the future I could see up to 1". Do you feel it can effectively handle that material?

No, this machine is only to be used on mild steel and non ferrous metals.
Evolution do make a special blade for cutting stainless steel, but I don't think it's available for this machine and might only be available for their professional "steel" range of saws.
If I cut stainless at work I normally use the metal cutting band saw, as it does a great job of cutting stainless.

One question: am I right that I can use the depth cutting feature to cut trenches/dados? Potentially with multiple passes if it's wide. So that I could make a slot that another piece of wood can slot into?

The blade on mine isn't square when it's set at zero. How can I adjust it? I don't want to have to check it on a set square and make small adjustments every time I return it to 0º cut... thanks
It shows you how to adjust the squareness of the blade and the fence on pages 23-25 of the instructions, once you have done it you should not need to do it again for a long time. You will need a square to set the adjustment BTW.

If you use the Evolution 10-in Wet or Dry Continuous Diamond Circular Saw Blade, Model #: 10BLADEDM, can this miter saw be a tile saw?
Yes, but you have to ensure you get the correct size blade as it can be confusing as they make the same model machine with two different sized blades (I got confused when writing the title for this video). I do have a diamond blade for this machine but not the tile cutting one. I will try the blade I have in the next few months.

Its a great machine except that when using the right hand work clamp it fouls on the motor and wont give a full cut. I noticed you using the R.H. clamp but you stopped short of making a cut.
I only used the right handed clamp as it was closest to the camera and easier to film.
You are right, it will foul the motor if you use it- unless you are doing a bevel cut.

Disappointed with mine. There is far too much play on the up/down swivel joint and no way of adjusting it.
I didn't use it much over the last two years but that I am starting to get into hobby stuff and need more accuracy I've notice the tremendous movement on the hinged part. It was ok for rough stuff but now that I'm doing higher standard work I can't use if for repeatability.
Just checked my warranty to and found out it is three years so I'm going to see about upgrading but not sure what too.

I purchased one of these saws, I need to cut round aluminum stock but I find on my 14" saw I must be careful to lock down my workpiece, if not it binds the blade from movement. What's the best method to secure metal round rod & tube on this saw?
There is a clamp with the machine, that should hold most pieces of material for cutting.
that clamp is only good for flat stock not round stock

good review i hope you have more luck with yours than i have with mine,i have a couple of issues the first is i had to re-drill the the fence as it was impossible to line the fence with the blade second fault i now have is to much play when cutting wood if i hold the handle i can move the saw side to side i have have stripped it down and looked at every thing including the linear bearings all seems fine i have adjusted the grub screws on the rails but as soon as the movement goes you cant slide it this so frustrating,how much side to side play does your saw have when you hold the handle and try to move side to side?
I don't think there is any sideways movement on mine.
I've had no issues at all with mine to be honest.
If I were you I'd get in touch with Evolution and tell them your problems.

Thank God I watched this before I ordered one that trigger would drive me nuts I like the change in the hand position especially with a slider though.
PS cutting nails is something that just about any saw can do it has more to do with the blade and I would definitely avod it no matter what they say it's going to dull the blade no matter what.
I cut metal on the Evolution saws regularly, they do a great job of it.

Please help. I was setting up my new saw (same as this) Set the square against the left side of the blade and the rear fence it was a few degrees out BUT the other side appears to be spot on ????
You can adjust both sides of the fence, if I remember rightly.

You can get other blades that fit it. I just bought a Trend one for the Rage 5 table saw, but I had to get a reducing ring as well.
You have to make sure that the blade speed is compatible with the machine though.

It will but you have to cut from one side, turn the post and then cut it again from the other side.

+Ultimate Handyman I meant to ask at the time, how do you find the dust collection on this? it doesnt look too good. On mine, the dust collection is pretty much non existent and its such a hassle doing any sort of repetitive cutting as it just leaves the place a mess. I just dont bother collecting my vacuum to it anymore as it makes no difference. its actually pushing me to sell it and go for a makita or dewalt now

The dust collection is not great, but having spoken to a few woodworkers that have said that dust collection is never great on any mitre saw. I think it's better on the Dewalt though as there is a dust collection port right where the blade ejects the chips and saw dust.

The Evolution machines are great for the money, they are much better than abrasive disks for cutting metal!
they do seem handy with that blade! not too pricey either!

Easy
This thing is bloody brilliant. Only downside is this one comes with a 110V plug fitted on to the cable, so a transformer is required to get it working. Regardless, I think this is a great machine!

+Ultimate Handyman figured but wonders how neat it was .
a local big box store was demo'ing this mitre saw with a company Rep present. So I wanted to really see what it's capable of, so I got a piece of Rigid conduit and brought it over. The Rep said sure no problem, we can cut that. When he did, the teeth on the blade started ricocheting in every direction like an IRA pipe bomb just went off. Forget about cutting metal, you're risking serious injury !!!!
These machines cut metal absolutely no problem at all, I have honestly cut loads of steel on them.
Did the guy clamp the conduit down properly? I have seen people trying to cut steel bars that rotate using an angle grinder and that had caused the disc to explode as the bar has rotated with the disc.
It was a rigid conduit pipe, rigid is high tinsel strength metal. It's not typical metal, only a chop saw can cut them. It was quite the thing watching teeth from the blade ricocheting like an IED exploding. Yes it was clamped.
you cant put the clamp on the right hand side of the machine, it will get in the way of the motor when you bring the saw down..

this saw is fantastic for us tradies, i got it for £99 from screwfix and the table it was sat on (keter) for £50 good deal i say its paid for itself now a good 10 times over
