    Really love your videos, so informative! Just a quick question regarding my mk 7.5 R. At start-up (regardless of whether it is a cold start or it has been driven), there is a puff of white smoke that comes out of exhaust. Smokes for around 30 seconds and then nothing. Car drives totally normal, no smoke during normal driving or idle, oil levels totally normal and no leaking. Is this a common symptom of a faulty PCV valve?

      Thanks 👍 hmm wouldn’t like to say for sure but I don’t think that will be causing the issue

    Hopefully i can get a answer here so shooting in the dark , i see someone did ask but did it consume oil , so every odd 1000 km's i need to top up a bit les than a point of oil , i have no leaks , when i try to pull the oil fill plug there is suction/vacuum in the engine so I'm suspecting my pcv is also done , but was wondering if it could be the cause of my oil consumption all be it not alot of consumption

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  2 года назад +1

      no it wasn't really consuming excess oil tbf mate, the valve was just really noisy on this one

  • @superkari28
    @superkari28 3 года назад +2

    hi if the oil separator is broken does it consume a lot of oil?because my vw golf after i change the engine oil after 6days its totally empty any idea? its no oil leaking it has no white or blue smoke oil filter is not leaking an oil..im always putting it 3liters for 6days

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  3 года назад +2

      Hi Alex, it shouldn't make it consume excess amounts like that! that's a massive amount in 6 days! very odd if its not smoking at all and you can't see any leaks, if it was consuming that amount it should smoke a fair bit , Id have a really good scan round for a leak first and if its definelty not leaking you'll need to do some more involved checks to see if it is consuming it

      @@diydaly the history is like this.. it has misfire number2 they scan the car the result is they change the spark plug then it was ok.then i went to change the engine oil air cleaner oil filter..after 6days the ligth indicator pop up so i check the oil its totally empty

    I assume al new gaskets are already fitted on the replacement PCV? I want to do this as well, but I was unsure about the gaskets since the manual stated: “replace gasket after removing”. So I want to be sure I don’t have to get gaskets as well.

      @@diydaly Had a golf GTI MK6 that had always used oil from new. I complained about it to VW dealer and went through an oil consumption test during the warranty period, not the only problem either. It had many other common problems as well.
      They passed it and stated it was normal oil consumption for a GTI.....BS!!!
      Fast forward 3.5 years and out of warranty at 70,000Kms oil consumption has slowly increased. I go through another oil consumption test and it failed. The VW dealer said it needs new pistons, piston rings and conrods. How unusual.... the warranty runs out and my engine needs an expensive rebuild (dishonesty as usual by VW/VW dealers). I complained and stated that this a common issue with these engines and I should not have to pay anything. VW agreed to part pay and charge me $3K to make up the difference. Get real VW!!!
      Anyway, I got rid of it and bought an I30N. Will never buy a VAG product ever again. VAG products are ticking time bombs!
