That was one of the best you tube how to videos I've ever seen. I've watched thousands. Generally I don't like music. But when you can convey directions and instructions without flabbering your lips , and do it this well, it's very easy to listen to it. Good info on the lid and will be useful when replacing mine shortly (torn vinyl), thank you! .. I do have a question. On the armrest bottom portion, where the front end push bar is to release the lid is, do you know how to get to it? the latch mechanism on mine gets stuck, but cannot figure out how to get to it. I have looked at GM parts diagrams and cant find anything. I see the push bar on the front and a plastic piece top inside, but no screws/bolts or any means for snap pins or anything along those lines. Any help would be appreciated!

Why does my center console look so different? Mine hinges on the side and this lid doesn't fit, even though it's an 02.

My truck was broken into recently, anyway, is this the same process when it was broken upen from the back part of the lid?

If you can remove the whole lid because it's broken where the springs are you should be able to just open from the front then pull if not remove the rod and springs then follow the video with a new one

Also if the plastic is broken where the rod goes into you'll either need to 3d print a new holder and glue it in place or replace the whole unit you can find one most likely matching in a junkyard or ebay

Mice sometimes make nests inside the console lid so the towel could be for preventing insulation, dust, or other debris from getting in the bucket other than that personal documents he didn't want to move could be why
