2021 silverado diesel here, for the people complaining about turning it off every time, to me is no big deal, I just added to the routine of putting my seat belt on and do the auto stop next after my seatbelt every time, and I never forget, got so used to it , it doesn't bother me at all.
I do the same thing after I buckle up.
This is absolutely the easiest way to disable the auto start. Everything comes in the kit took me 15 minutes to install it.
And with my truck, I did not have to wait eight hours for a power down. It started instantaneously.
You heard about that from me on the ZR2 forum. Love this thing!
HA HA, NICE !!! you're the real hero !
That’s a nice option versus removing console and lower dash. I put the behind the dash version eliminator on my wife’s 23 Suburban but it was to the left of the steering wheel and simple to access.
Absolutely ridiculous to do any of this. Just tap the on/off button for the stupid auto stop feature which is on the dash each time you start up the engine. Surely you do not think that is a difficult thing to do. Right?
Seems like a great product, but for $140 I think I’ll be fine with turning off the auto switch every time I get in the truck.
😂 I agree lol
Yep! And when I forget, I get reminded at first stoplight lol
Cheers!
@@philipchesley9615 That's the point, so you don't get annoyed ever again.. for years of ownership. Its worth the $ for peace of mind.
That’s something that probably cost $10 to make in Guangdong China.
Yeah, not for that price. I will push the button.
It worked flawlessly! Thanks for sharing!
2021 GMC AT4; put the switch that goes behind the center console two years ago. For me it was a safety concern, I pull up to a stop (usually for a right turn) then the truck shuts off when I want to make the turn and accelerate. If your trying to merge into traffic with a vehicle that cycles off then has to restart? There are many right turns with merging lanes in my area with a vehicle that shuts down ain't fun.
Doesn’t the AT4 have a shut off switch?
That's strange. My 2024 GMC starts the engine before I can even lift my foot off the brake, let alone move it to the throttle. Maybe you should have taken it in to be looked at instead of putting mods on it?
@@gumenski maybe your reaction time is to slow from brake to throttle, so it works for you, not for the normal people who react faster between pedals.
@@BR549_o7Right.. what would I know being a race car driver.
@@gumenski does not mean your successful at it. There are plenty of "race car drivers" that are clueless. Bottom line, these switches are to stop the engine from shutting down everytime you come to a stop. All that constant stop start can't possibly be good in the long term. If you were a good race car driver, you would realize this.
So that wire on the battery that you hooked your device to I have seen on other videos that, that wire monitors your battery charge level to ensure that your vehicle has enough charge to restart, if it doesn’t have enough charge then it won’t shutdown. So if you just disconnect that wire it shouldn’t shut down. Due to your battery is no longer being monitored. I haven’t personally tried this and I don’t know if it will throw a code as a result of the disconnection, but it wouldn’t hurt to try.
A button on my dash to turn off Auto stop is just NOT that big of a deal to me. If a button wasn't easily accessible and was in the glove compartment or under the seat, then I would be interested in this product.
AWESOME find! Would love to that the 1/2 ton diesel really nice truck!
Thanks !
My auto stop only worked the 1st 200 miles , after that , it has not activated.
On the other hand, I can not get my seat belt notification to stop beeping, even when the settings is off
Any lights on the dash? looks to me like this makes the truck think the battery is too low to run the auto start.
agreed, no lights on the dash or within the system. I did a full system scan on a prior video for a scantool.
What about voltage on the dash? Does it show low?
the sensor this hooks too is just for the auto start i think. The ECM reads voltage @@ErikBansberg
@@JCunningham21 the ECM reads module voltage, not current flowing through the battery. The BCM reads from the battery current sensor, which is what this product is falsifying, and then sends information to the ECM on needs for charging and the auto stop/start. So my guess is you will not only lose fuel economy due to not auto stopping, you'll also lose fuel economy to running the alternator more to charge a battery that doesn't need charged. $140 to lose fuel economy and fix and problem that doesn't exist while also putting more strain on your alternator. That's what I call a fail of a product.
you are not losing any fuel economy buy not auto stopping. @@IVloses
start-stop is actually harmless, these cars have heavyduty-starters and batteries, from factory. They are meant to stand more starting-cycles than older cars. Other systems are also beeft-up in these cars.
I know many focus on the starter and battery and I agree, that's a non-issue. The concerns I have with it is the going from heavy load to a stop and immediate shutdown, you now lost all oil flow to lubricate and cool as well as all coolant flow to maintain the cooling. This is especially bad when turbochargers can be over 1000 degrees quite often.
At least the 4 banners have electric water pumps that keep going after engine stop.
Harmless, maybe but a pure pain the backside. Had mine try and kill me twice already after trying to get a jump into traffic from a stop.
I just order one for my 2023 AT4. I’ll let you guys know how it goes!
How did it go?
If you were to ever have funky electrical system gremlins popping up , beware that aftermarket add on's causing diagnostic trouble shooting time will NOT be warranty covered ,especially if they cause a component failure of some kind , they will totally void the entire vehicle warranty coverage
That is not remotely true. If you have an electrical issue that the add on part is causing then the repair would be at your expense, but the rest of the vehicle would be warrantied.
@@jimbearden7704depends on the component. Mess with the ECU in any way and your entire power train warranty goes. Along with electrical work
Magnuson Moss Act says something completely different.
@@jimbearden7704 Hacking the battery management system
I used a similar product, goes under the console and they are great.Stupid feature gm came up with.Whew.
Why couldnt GM just made it so the stop/start is deactivated every time you start the truck then you can just engage it when your stuck in a drive threw or something... so dumb
So far my auto-stop mostly doesn't come on in winter. It's cold here so it stops stopping at lower than 20°F.
I've heard it won't come on if your front defrost is on.
It comes on with the defrost on, I think its partially temperature controlled, then whatever draw is on the battery. So if you have a lot of stuff on, like stereo, defroster or A/C and headlights then it won't come on as often.@@ShiftEnvy
New 24 LT Z71 here. Is this product going to do crazzy things to the electronics, possibly?
Is it going to void the warranty?
I absolutely hate that system!! Thank You
Where do you get this product from
Hell yea I need this on my 21 at for 3.0 I am sick of the start stop but this is easy enough
So what color wire do you cut and send 12volts to? Little high to buy one
There isn't a wire to cut. The video shows the ground that gets installed with the nut and the connector that gets plugged in.
I really don’t get everyone’s hate on the start/stop. I have a 2020 traverse, and unless it’s the best system ever in all vehicles, I rarely if ever notice when it engages. I definitely don’t get the ‘jerking’ described in this video 🤷🏻♂️
maybe that comes down to the difference in a traverse vs a silverado ?
@@DemonWorksmaybe? But it’s not just truck vs traverse… I see the same complaint from owners of other brands (Dodge, ford, Hyundai, Mazda, Acura, etc…). I even test drove a couple Hyundai Palisades before settling on the Traverse and I couldn’t tell when it engaged or disengaged then either 🤷🏻♂️
$140? No thanks. I’ll just push the button.
Hi Quick question, does this device cause a draw on the battery when the vehicle is not in use?
Any help with the operating system saying "sorry i'm offline and can't help you with that" almost every day at random time driving 2023 Silverado? I don't have a subscription to the service and don't want one.
I have no help for ya, unfortunately. I do not like the google system ...
My truck also says the same thing to me usually in the first mile of driving but randomly!
My 82 Chevy doesn't have that problem
I wonder why 🙄
Looks like it disables/bypasses the high energy capacitor on the battery. Without that, system will not function. Think you can also replace the expensive AGM battery with a standard battery. Same results, no high energy capacitor for the AS system. Save a couple hundred dollars on the batteries too. 🤷♂️
Wonder how it works, it must trick the computer that the battery is at a lower voltage then it really is. So computer never calls for AUTO/START/STOP. Just a guess.
Manipulated battery temp reading.
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure if you hold the start button for 10 seconds it shuts off the auto start stop mode.
There's a button on the dash to shut it off.
Holding the start button down for 10sec stops the car/truck from shutting down after idling a while.
HTF does it work if its only connected to power? 😲
Will this work on 2020 Sierra RST as well?
Yes, it should. Double check with the website but it's the same setup.
Probably affects your auto head lights too!
I tried my truck into an error… auto stop … stopped working but also the auto head lights stopped working … which is more annoying…
A better way to bynpass is to just turn on AC… set LO … min fan speed and blow on wind shield … auto stop … stopped working also…
no headlight changes here. Also, the a/c doesn't disable the auto stop, it will just occur less frequently dependent on in cab temps.
@@DemonWorks well … if you set it manually to LOW. And low fan speed… in theory .. it will never reach the temp… so will never auto stop :). It’s the only “free” solution in the summer … winter .. not so much ..
@@viperkiller0071 my ac is on 100% of the time, it still auto stops.
Would this work on my ram 2024 1500 hemi ?
Unfortunately, I do not know. i would reach out to the manufacturer.
Hey man you have any connections at banks about when the Lzo tuner is coming out? Thanks
Once you see the 6.6 Derringer arrive, we will get ours
@@DemonWorks thanks dude. Will keep checking daily. Banks is the only name I can trust
@@travispinkerton9916 no problem! The 6.6 is obviously their priority and we are next up. The hood thing about that, what they learn and apply to that platform rolls to us.
I installed one and it makes my left speaker pop when I turn the signal light for the first time ,Then after that its fine? But when I start it up again pop then its all fine.
Did you contact the manufacturer? It doesn't make sense to me since this unit just makes the system think the battery is warm... but anything can happen I suppose.
@@DemonWorks I sent them a massage see what happens.
Where do I order this part?
I hate that stupid auto stop, as well as the electronic dshifter. I hope they go back to steering column shifter and get rid of some of those stupid electronics gadgets that cause so many issues
The shit you all have to go through with these new vehicles 😂
When it gets below $50 then I might buy one
However pushed this crap through should be sent to Siberia.
does that remove the dfm as well?
No, that would need to be a different device.
@@DemonWorks Thanks for the response
I love the auto stop, helps me get 17-23 mpg.
Love mine. Now tell me how to neuter the Onstar entirely. I want it GONE.
I agree !!! the Onstar is very annoying.
I cannot find any videos on how to unplug the Onstar box on the 2022 refreshed trail boss. Older version vids are on here but not the newer ones. I guess its time for me to find it. @@DemonWorks
Interesting. I have Onstar and I am never even aware of it. How is it annoying?
Diesels never had that…lol
What we are paying for these vehicles we should be able to decide if we want this on or off! Not some dumbass sitting behind a desk wasting our tax dollars. Do their jets shut off when they are stopped on the runway?
does doing that effect the warrentee?
I would think so because you’re putting in aftermarket stuff.
I believe so because it’s aftermarket.
I will just Not spend money for an item that is irrelevant. I will just push the button and not use that feature.
Next will come up with something to install to eliminate lane assist warnings.
There are buttons to use or not use features. Unless you just want to spend money for nothing.
I don't use it, my truck does not shut off when I stop and I did not have to pay anything for it to be that way.
I don't activate that option.
Did you buy a Base model truck?
I put that on my 2019 chevy equinox. Now my remote start doesnt work.
Typically that is caused by a Check Engine light on, do you have a check engine light on the dash?

Does it void any warranty
Only your dealer can answer that as all are different. 20 second installation.
Yes
just unplug the conector and done
It's just amazing all the haters.. If you own the truck just 3 years and use it once a day, that is1095 button pushes. Under a penny a push. Thanks for the idea.
Well said!
It doesn’t auto stop when you have your AC on.
Not necessarily. Yes, it will disable if the cabin needs the air temp adjusted, but the a/c will not automatically disable the start stop.
Can you show us this with the ac off, when the ac is running it will not shut off
Ac on it will still shut off, if the cab temp meets requirements. I don’t plan on showing any more videos of this is use, sorry. There’s no commissions for me on this, just sharing a product I found… they also have a return policy if needed…
Hack the battery management system, not a good thing.
Has to be done in software, I think, to have it off by default,
should not be more expensive tnen this.
Looks to be working just fine the way it's shown in the video... custom tuning is awfully expensive ....
cost to make is like $10 lol
Hilarious.. 20 sec 30 sec 15min 8hr lol
Thanks for watching !
Please explain in more detail why it is so difficult to tap the on/off button to deactivate the stupid federally mandated auto stop feature. Did you say that you "forget" to do it? Really? Do you also "forget" to turn the radio on/off button when you want the radio to be on or off?
Robert, are you okay? You got triggered by a youtube video about someone that didn't like something about their own truck so they changed it.
No explanation here or at device site of exactly how this works. No thanks.
Contact the manufacturer... I am just a guy that bought it then installed it to share with people like you that can then look deeper into it if they see fit.
This is one feature that I hope goes away. Enough is enough!
Stop/start???? WTF??? Is this a calif BS deal???
all of the modern gm 1500 trucks have it
Soon itll be time to delete😊
I have never met anyone who likes this "feature". It's moderately tolerable in cars but just terrible in trucks.
I dont have an issue with turning off the button at start up. My concern is the cylinder deactivation when you're cruising at hwy speed. Can cause lifter failure, excessive oil consumption and eventually engine damage. Anyone run into this problem yet on your truck?
I just ordered one for my wifes 23 yukon! I hate the start stop feature. I didn't feel like taking apart the dash either. Thanks!
Make sure it doesn’t effect your warranty
The auto stop start eliminator that’s available for the Yukon is super easy to install and better than this. The dash panel pieces easily come by hand in a matter of seconds.

Plug a trailer tester into the flat connector at the hitch. The system sees a trailer and will not activate.
Then you lose park assist sensors.
Great idea!
I found one for my ‘21 Malibu. It was $15 on Amazon. Just a jumper about 6” long and the plug in question is under the hood next to the latch.
For me, I just make it a habit of going from the start button to disengaging the stop/start feature. Total cost: $0.00. And it cuts down on two things . . . the level of aggravation and the number of times the car starts over the engines expected life.
i did the one behind the dash. ordered it befor I even picked up the truck
I have that one sitting on my desk. I didn't feel like going through all of the disassembly with the console.
ya no need if you can just do plug and play under the hood. im kind of worried about the one i have now if i ever have to take the truck in. Dealer might spend hours trying to figure out why my dash says auto start off every time the trucks started with out hitting the button. Then hand me a bill.
@@JCunningham21with the under dash version you can actually turn auto start/stop back on by pressing the button, it merely remembers your setting and holds it there.

They got greedy with that price point. I’d buy it all day for $40. $140? No way in hell. It’s just not that big of a nuisance.
I just installed one on my 24 Sierra Denali, That dam thing drove me crazy. On my 2018 SLT they called it a hybrid, had a huge battery and the start stop just shut the vehicle down and it was like it held it in a pause mode, when I let off the brake it just went again, no starting. I liked that one but I was more than happy to spend the money to eliminate that starting on this /24

Where did you get your oil cap? That’s badass
Any updates on banks derringer for the 3.0

@@DemonWorksyou have any inside info on the derringer now? Years and years and still nothing
I actually don’t mind it on in my truck it’s really not that bad of a transition on the 2.7 turbo motor
Does this affect how the BMS or whatever charges the battery? Seems like it tricks the system into thinking there isn’t enough voltage for the Auto Start Stop, which may influence how the system treats the battery (as I’ve heard these modern systems regulate voltage depending on State of Charge and battery condition etc).
Just tap the damn "on/off" button on the dash to disable the stupid federally mandated auto ignition stop/start system every time you drive. The button even has a light to show whether the system is on or off. Nothing about your vehicle is easier to understand or to do than tapping that auto ignition start/stop on/off button. There is absolutely no need to permanently disable the auto stop/start system. Ever. The vehicle manufacturer could not have made this more simple.
@@roberthenry9319 I dont own one of these, or a truck with start stop, just curious being todays machinery is quite complex and integrated.
I've had this same kit on my wife's 2018 Enclave for years with no issues. No shut off button on those cars :/
@@roberthenry9319 With that mindset, why get electric windows, just manually roll them down each time yourself. Its a ridiculous concept. It does not save fuel by stopping at a 4 way stop, to shut off then immediately back on within a 1 min, but it does cause reduction in part life because ignitions, pumps, relays, etc can only be cycled so many times before they fail.
@roberthenry9319 Actually, it is a major inconvenience and safety concern. First, every time I get into my car to drive, I have to press 3 or 4 buttons and warnings just to get my vehicle to function. These federally mandated warnings and "features", have now become a burden. I will gladly pay to eliminate every one that I can. Secondarily, I've almost gotten into an accident on a few occasions because my vehicle shut off and it takes a few seconds to start back up if you need to quickly accelerate or get out of the way in traffic.

HA,HA Just stick a piece of credit card in the switch button for FREE, keeps button on all the time
Good grief, that's pure genius. Trying this tonight.
I’m going to go out in a limb here and say that all that unit is doing is making the Battery Load Management system think there is too large of a load to allow the auto start stop system to shut down. Whether or not this has a negative effect on your battery or alternator I wouldn’t know but I would personally avoid messing with a system like your charging system especially if you venture out far with your truck like some of us do.
All it need to do is reduce the voltage during startup, the rest of the time it can give the system the full battery voltage.
The vehicle is looking for enough voltage during startup to confirm that the correct battery / a good healthy battery is installed.
All it does is trick the system into thinking that the battery is not rated for fast startups required by the auto stop-start system.
$150 for this module or $99 for the one that goes behind the dash?!? Seems like the pricing is a bit high to justify for me...just my thoughts.
