I had my boy a month back via emergency c-section. He had 2 loops of the cord around his neck and during the process of vaginal birth, his heart was dropping and hence c-section. Upon delivery, the doctor said he had 3 loops. Thankfully he is a healthy and happy baby 😊

I started to feel my first baby's movements at around 17 weeks of pregnancy in 2019 & thinking "Dangggg this baby is so active!". Now with my baby number 2, I have an anterior placenta & was told I probably wont feel as much of strong movements like a normal baby due to the placenta position. But guess what, I can feel this second baby even earlier & wayyy more active than her sister even with an AUS. Pregnancy really is unpredictable guys. Just hope I can get a successful VBAC in 2 weeks from now. Please pray for me! 🧡🧡🧡

That's how my sister died before I was born. My mom was at 39 weeks. She felt something weird, went in for a scan in the morning but it was too late. She had to give birth to a dead baby. Horrible. I don't know how anyone would be able to cope with something like this.

it is hard when you hear other parents who unfortunately had C-sections or stillborn babies positively say the reasoning was 100% due to a nuchal cord. sometimes i feel providers just want to give an answer to these complications as it sounds better to the parent than not having a definite answer as to why. you summed this up perfectly!!

I had my first baby about seven months ago he did have the cord around his neck very tightly! He was completely blue when he came out the doctor did what she said clamping closest to baby and closest to me and then cut it off his neck! My nurse my doctors were very calm and I would still say I had an amazing birth experience thanks to great nurses and doctors!

I'm watching this both happy to hear you explain, yet with tears in my eyes. When my son who is now 15 was in my womb, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck too tight. My husband was in the hospital with me for observation. One minute we were laughing and talking. The next minute 3 nurses and a Dr came running into the room. I didn't feel anything and they never told us what was wrong. As a result my son was born as a Special Needs Baby. He is borderline Developmentally Delayed,ADD,stutters,is in the Specialty Population and will always have to live with help. I sometimes find myself blaming myself but I had no idea this would be his outcome. To see my son, noone would ever think anything was wrong with him other then he's very quiet. My husband and I are always trying to find ways of helping our son to feel like he belongs in this world. To us he is PERFECT but to the outside world including family that don't understand him is heartbreaking. We talk to our son, show him videos of babies with the umbilical cord wrapped around their neck. We explain to him about oxygen loss, and what it can do to you. I know he doesn't quite understand what were telling him but we don't want him to feel like he's no different then anyone else.

I had my first with a neck tied, lead me to having a C-section, my second with a knot in the umbilical cord, but I was so far with the contractions and 6cm open that we risked it for a vaginal birth, and my 3rd child was vaginal too. I was very happy not to go thru the C-section again but I know doctors do them to the safety of mom and baby. Thank you for your videos very informative ❤️☺️

I have had two babies, both born with nucal cord, both super active during pregnancy! Firstborn nucal cord was reduced when I delivered his head. My second was a bit more tight nucal cord and the dr was unable to reduce it so I fully delivered my baby then she got to cord off. Both babies are perfect!

This is definitely not comforting. This is exactly how I lost my daughter because the doctors/nurses did not think it was serious enough and did not take me for a c-section. My daughter was stillborn with a Nuchal cord x2

Unrelated to this video, but this reminded me of it. Can you talk about nuchal hands? My second baby was born with his hand covering his face. Pushing was a bit more difficult than with my first baby and he didn’t slide right out once his head was out, I had to keep pushing to get his shoulders out, but no real complications and I didn’t have any interventions. After reading about nuchal hands, it seems like most of the time it leads to problems. Is that an exaggeration or is it usually a bigger concern? Also, could that be the reason that my contractions never became regular during my 5 hour labor?

I had my second baby (and second induction) a few weeks ago. I was given cervidil but was only able to keep it in for an hour due to contractions picking up so aggressively that my sons heart rate was dropping. I was given a shot in my arm to slow contractions (medicine started with a T) but I’m curious, if we had been rushed to the OR for a cesarean birth, would the Dr have been able to operate while my uterus was contracting like crazy? Do they have to slow/stop contractions before starting the procedure?
In the end, the medicine to slow things down worked, I was able to get an epidural and proceeded through labor without issue (didn’t need Pitocin to progress) and I had him right at 12 hours into the induction. We were induced due to severe IUGR just before 37 weeks but he’s healthy and perfect ❤️

My first baby was so active, especially at night. When I was in labor the baby’s heart rate kept dropping during contractions, the nurse would run into the room but never told us anything. Till the very end they had the nicu run in and doctor in seconds. I pushed and pushed and but was so tired. The doctor did say I have to get this baby out soon or there was risk of c-section. Finally he was out! Everything was fine after examination. But my husband did say he say the doctor unwrap the cord. At the end when he was cleaned up the doctor told us she had never seen a baby with the cord wrapped 4 times ! Now pregnant with #2 and now I know there is just nothing to be done so no point in worrying.

My son was born with the cord around his neck and body and a knot in it. As he was descending they lost his heartbeat on the monitor and had to put a tracer in his head at the last moment. I almost had a C-section because they couldn’t get his heartbeat as I was 10cm and they said it’s because the cord around his neck was being compressed. They gave me 10 minutes to get him out and thankfully I was able to push him out in that timeframe because I didn’t have an epidural and really didn’t want to be put under.

A lady in my due date group just lost her baby because the cord was wrapped around his neck 4 times. She went in for decreased movement the morning she was actually supposed to be induced later that evening, and they said he had passed when they checked him 😰 that's one of my biggest fears.

My first and third were SO active and they both had cord around their neck. First one, I was pushing for 3 hours and baby's heart rate dropped and they took her our with forceps. She is a healthy almost 5 year old. Third one who was born in January had cord around his neck wrapped twice and he was flipping in there a lot! The cord was also around his shoulder and legs!!!! But after the midwife broke my water he was born in 3 minutes! No issues he is healthy and growing perfectly. I had an amazing midwife who had to take the baby out completely and then unwrapped him😄
My 2nd one was so chill and relaxed in there, so no cord around his neck👍

Thank you for sharing your story and I’m so terribly sorry. I’ve been obsessing over this topic and brought it up at my last appointment. My doctor didn’t seem at all concerned even though I’m 33 weeks and have only had one ultrasound. It’s scary the lack of control one can feel and the inability to properly advocate for your baby. Can one simply demand a c-section based on intuition?! I really hope you’re doing well in light of what you’ve been through ❤️

I'm so so so sorry for you loss!!! I lost twins due to doctors/nurses not taking me seriously. Thankfully I later had an amazing doctor who took every tiny complaint I had very seriously so when my daughter had decreased movement I called he told me you be here in 30min or less did nst test then biophysical ultrasound revealed she was not moving or practicing breathing or swallowing and her bladder was full she basically completly failed the test other than amniotic fluid was okish i was 32+6 did a c-section which revealed my placenta had gotten old early he said it looked like i had gone over due. I hope if you decide to become pregnant again you can find the same type of caring loving and concerned ob as I have :)

Could this be caused by the water being broken to early? My first baby was born with the cord twice around the neck. I was induced at 41 weeks. I was under the impression that my babies heart rate dropped, leading to internal monitoring. Also the doctor started to have me push every other contraction. Also we couldn’t have delayed cord clamping because they had to remove the cord quickly and took him to the warmer instead of skin to skin right away. He is perfectly healthy and only had to be away from me for a few minutes.

TW: We almost lost my little sister when she was born because her cord was wrapped around her neck 4 times. Her cord had to be cut so she could come out. Got to my mom’s room with my grandparents right as my sister was coming out. I actually saw them put her on my mom, my mom yell at them for not immediately taking her to work on her because she was completely gray, and then noticed me and started screaming to shut the door so I couldn’t see because they didn’t know if my sister was gonna make it. I saw all of that because of all the nurses and doctors frantically running in and not shutting the door or pulling the curtain. As an adult who’s had a baby now I realize that was a big sign for how serious things were. I remember hearing my mom yell “somebody slap her! PLEASE!!” over and over. Then a nicu doctor slipped by me into the room and smacked her butt and my sister finally took a breath. My first time meeting my sister was when a nurse came running out with her in a loose, messy, swaddle, no hat, and RAN to the nicu. She paused briefly to show me my purple sister and said “This is your sister!” I’ve been told that’s a big sign for how concerned they were. They don’t run with babies instead of wheeling them in the bassinet unless it’s an emergency. Really crazy. My pregnancy with my son ended up being almost identical to my mom’s pregnancy with my sister. Even down to my due date being 3 days after my sister’s, being induced for preeclampsia at 39 weeks, and cords being wrapped 4 times. My son was born by C-section because he was posterior and wasn’t moving down. My mom apparently started begging my ob in the hallway to consider C-section pretty early because his heart rate was doing the same pattern my sister’s did during contractions and she was panicking. Coincidentally he ended up being wrapped 4 times too, but instead of solely around his neck he was tangled in it with one loop around his neck. Apparently uncommon 😅 Every nurse who came in our room for the 3 days after birth said we were the topic of discussion at the nurses station and they were all in shock😂 Really glad I’ll never know if it would have caused issues during a vaginal birth.
Really scary stuff and so awful that some people don’t get happy ending, BUT my sister’s story is positive. My sister didn’t have any issues from how long she went without breathing and she’s now almost 21. Graduated high school a year and a half early and graduated cosmetology school a month after she originally would have graduated high school (before she even turned 18). Currently taking advantage of being young and recently started working at Disney world and already making waves and getting opportunities newbies don’t usually get. Traumatic entry into the world, but she’s kicking butt and taking names now😊
