    I recently bought a 2024 Z Performance w/6-speed manual. I bought it with 6000 miles on it, so I got it for substantially below MSRP. This is my 5th Z car, and I love it. It reminds me of all the prior generations of Z car at once. The exterior styling has cues from every single generation of Z. I think Nissan knocked the styling out of the park. They went back to the original Z logo and exterior badge placement, which is the right kind of nostalgia.
    This is probably the final generation of internal combustion Z car, and I love what Nissan did with it. They're keeping the production numbers quite low as well. Nissan is only building about 100 of these per month, so you don't see them on the road very often. I'm so happy that Nissan decided to build this car.

      It is just a new body, built on the old chassis. Look at the air vents. Same parts as the last Z. Poor build quality. Look at the gaps between the body panels. Between the rear hatch and the body, too. Very attractive, but poor build quality. And I've never seen one on the road in SoCal, either.

    The Nissan z is a revival of the s30, it looks amazing. The Nissan z sounds amazing with cold air intakes and a borla exhaust. However the base trim is the only one worth getting. It’s the lightest variant, has manual, and you would’ve upgraded all of its “performance parts” to better ones anyways. The vr30 is an amazing engine.

    Is there a law in Japan that says all cars must have a ridiculously huge front grill?
    Examples;
    Yaris
    Camry
    Mazda 3,
    and now this thing.
    I think they were trying to make it look slightly
    menacing.
    But, ended up making a car that looks
    like a fish trying to
    catch food.

    Full disclosure: When I met my wife in 1996, she was driving a new 300Z. (I'm a lucky guy! 🥰) I just bought a 2024 Nissan Z 1 week ago. As our narrator noted, online images of the Z absolutely DO NOT do justice with respect to seeing the car in-person. That was my experience when I saw my Z in the Showroom. The 2nd day I had the car, I came out of our local organic market to find a young gentleman videoing my new Z. (He was driving a Porsche Cayenne) I look forward to driving my Z each day, and I look forward to meeting a lot of new auto enthusiasts each time I go for a ride. I will admit that within the 1st week of owning my 2024 Z, I am searching for an upgraded Cat-Back. Leaning to the Borla Atak! 🤓

    Watching this makes me love my S550 Mustang GT even more. It's so versatile, looks sexy as hell, it's fast, has a huge trunk and I have a rear seat even if small I can fit short people back there. I like the new Z but it's not versatile enough and hate the front end. The side and tail looks amazing but that front end just kills it for me. Funny enough, I hate the rear end of the new 2024 Mustang but love the new front end.

    Love the look of the Z. My only gripe with the design is the katana accent…wish Nissan would offer a blackout or dark chrome version (less distracting, especially on a black car). Don’t know why Nissan went with a completely new front bumper on the NISMO when they could’ve simply added a full mesh grill and corner air vents…the new front end now looks like a BRZ/GR86 (not bad, just not unique). And hopefully the aftermarket can fix the manual gearbox. I would still choose the Z over the Supra…can’t stand fake vents, let alone the wind buffeting.

      That 54,956.56 price tag for this car is giving people heartburn! I picked up handles for my350z at the dealer and only 1 out of the 3 they had was sold! They were all automatic! There was rows of sentra, Altima, rogues, etc in the front of the dealership! I think z needs more than just LCD screens, turbos, rev launch! The vr30 tt will put many off, because you could hit that number with the 370z and some mods!

    Nice review. Considering chassis and some carry over from the 370, I think it’s over priced. Needs flat bottom steering wheel. Hoping the side mirrors are power folding. Would also say it at that price should have vented seats. But yes better then the 370. $54k outside of my range. I would go with the sport but only if it had the comfort package this performance has.

    Maybe someday but right now I'll stick with my 370Z for a while, quite a while. Mine is a 2020 and while the design is old it still - breaks necks - and is timeless, IMO. For me the looks of the new Z does not resonate, although seeing it in person could help. I also like the naturally aspirated engine in the 370. The dealerships don't help...

    They made the car with a large amount of 370z parts.... A redesign of this brand should never allow that to happen. It should have been a complete redesign. And even then, from the factory, it's not the Supra's equal. They aimed low and they achieved it :(

  • @bigmacdaddy1234

    The 'Z' missed two very important details: It does not have a removable Targa top and it does not have rear seats where you can put your dog or child. Open top driving is what makes a sports car fun and having even small rear seating for your child/dog makes it ever better. When I was car shopping, I did test drive the Z but it had too many weak points that were not justified for $50K. Also the materials, fit and finish felt cheap. So I wound up buying a JCW Mini Cooper convertible in beautiful Rebel Green with Tan interior. It's shorter in length than a Z, yet it seats four people and the top can be half open (sunroof) or full top down (convertible). Additionally, the rear seats fold down for even more storage space and the cup holders are front and center where they belong. And because it's a Mini it also has go-kart handling. I really wanted to love the new Z but for me, it's a flop. And what's up with that cheap hood-prop? Seriously? Nissan needs to go back to the drawing board -again.

    I think what hurt this car was the hype around it. People swore up and down that it would be a better all around car than the Supra and all of that for less money.
    When it didn’t beat the Supra the only things that had going for it was that it’s 100% Japanese, manual transmission and slightly cheaper…and then Toyota put a manual in the Supra…so now the Z has even less going for it.

    • @hartsickdisciple
      @hartsickdisciple Месяц назад

      As someone who owned a 370z and now owns a 2024 Z, I wholeheartedly disagree. The new car is based on the 370z, but it drives differently. The engine is strong and responds well to intake/exhaust/tuning. This car can be tuned to 500 horsepower with a few grand invested. It rides better than the 370z and the interior upgrades add up to a much more premium experience. You really have to drive it to understand. This is coming from someone who's owned V8 muscle and pony cars.
      It's also important to remember what this car represents in 2024. It's being made as a limited production send-off to the internal combustion Z car. It's not meant to be a cost-effective track weapon. This is a car for people who love Z cars and/or want a beautiful, fast GT sports car.

    I say this, as a massive Nissan fanboy and two-time VQ owner (3 in a week):
    - Nissan really said FU by giving us a recycled Q60 (lets not lie, thats what it is)
    - not even just that, the VR30 received minimal attention before basically being dropped back into the modified FM platform
    - the steering feel is muted when compared to the 370Z/G37
    - dollar for dollar, we're getting less than the top trim GR supra
    - even after all these years, Nissan devs still can't fish their heads out their asses and actually allow the VDC to turn both traction control and YAW sensors off for full analog feel; the Genesis 3.8 could do it, the BRZ could do it, fuck me the early Boxster and Miatas could do it....

      You hit the nail on the head but you missed the main 400z killer..the shitbox transmission.

    Breaking necks? Really? It's not bad looks-wise, but the breaking necks bit might be going a bit too far. They did a good job with the design overall though for sure.

    Old chassis and not enough power. I drove a Nismo last week and wasn’t impressed at all even at MSRP. Nissan didn’t spend enough money on this car update. It’s basically a 370 Z with a different body. Fail in my book

    Lol that car is maybe a 6/10 as far as looks go not a 10/10 .. that would be putting this car at Lamborghini levels witch it’s clearly not
