Is there no option to browse to the new file location as the value for the parameter when you open the template?

I do not understand what benefits come from having a template. We do not have there any pre-defined placeholders. If we want to have a pre-set font, header colors, visualization settings and so on then we need to place whole visualizations themselves. So in fact we copy one whole report to serve as a template. If would be better if we could pre-set all settings to what we want without placing visualizations. PowerBI should replace visualizations with kind of "placeholders" like [title], [logo] etc.

Thank you for these explanations. Can I convert an existing Power BI report to a pbi template and then keep everything as is but change the connectivity mode from import to direct query?

Hi Thanks for this, but should the data follow the same structure? And what if the US data includes more columns than the template data? Assuming the data set contains headers are identical to the templates but had those in different order and mixed with other columns which are not interested to the report? Please help?

Hi there, this assumes that both data files have the same structure (i.e. same headers, same type of data in them) otherwise it wont work

Hi. Thanks for sharing this method. I have followed step by step.
However, there is an error stating 'The key didn't match any rows in the table.'
The 2 different dataset that I have is of different data, but have the same number of column with exact naming. The difference is: the responses in values are different for the columns. Example in:
Dataset1: column 1 is filled with responses like "potato"
Dataset2: column 1 is filled with responses like "egg"
Could this lead to the error if I used this method?
Any other method that I can use for the kind of dataset that I have?
I would love to receive feedback, appreciate much in advance! :)

Hi there, thanks for watching my video! This error happens usually when you have incorrect column header names. It won't be the data itself that will be the issue but the columns, so I would check to make sure your column headers are the same between the two datasets
