Cam Install On A 107" Harley Road Glide (Battle of the Baggers EP.3) - Vlog 107

  • Lance and Juan finally dig into the 107" while down in Oceanside to install the new Feuling Parts 472 Camchest Kit. Luke and the boys over at Feuling helped them along the way to make sure Juan's Road Glide was as dialed in as it could be before they head back out to the Dyno to put some real numbers behind the upgrades! Is it enough to get this 107" on a competitive level to the 117" CVO? We'll see!

    We believe the factory plastic lifter cuff makes for a better part than billet. We did make billet lifter cuffs actually our first part for the M-Eights however due to the lifter flats of all available lifters outside of our Race Series lifters, the lifter flats are not precision machined, they vary in width and most are dinged and nicked which make it virtually impossible to get the correct clearance between the lifter and billet lifter cuff. The factory plastic part has a taper due to the ‘draft’ of manufacturing the plastic part, it has good tolerance to the lifter, won’t add additional noise due to additional slop and you don’t have to worry about aluminum material shedding and dropping down the lifter bores and beyond. Unfortunately in this situation we believe the plastic cuff is superior to billet.

      @loumiki 8 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you for explaining that! I was also curious why the plastic cuffs were used. Did you reuse the existing ones or install new plastic cuffs? I have a '22 RGST with the factory 131 kit. Purchased used with low miles. What do you suggest still needs to be upgraded besides tune and exhaust? Can you recommend anyone in the MA/NH area to perform similar work and attention to detail with your parts? Thanks TSC and Feuling teams for an informative video -- really enjoyed that!

      Interesting. 🤔I was just going to inquire about that choice.
      This is the first time I've heard that explanation/reasoning.
      I noticed "Star Racing" just started producing/selling their own billet cuffs.
      What are your thoughts on the longevity/durability of the stock plastic cuffs?
      Any high mile teardown you've done to observe wear?

      @@tonydanzl Great question, we’ve had great success with the plastic cuffs, outside of having to clearance them when you get into the 590 lift camshaft range. We use them on our race engines and have yet to see any wear issues 🤘🏻

    Luke's crew at Feuling, and his supervising everything over you two for your first time.... meticulous. Juan got a good job done on his new cam, cam chest, oil pump and followers/ lifter combo. Myself, I would have gone with a little bit less aggressive cam, something like a 465 torque cam, and an exhaust that will keep the noise down and give the necessary back pressure to make lots, and lots of torque. Peak torque at mid Rpm, say at 3,000 to 3300 matters most to me, that's where I want it delivered, in the middle of the meat of the rpm range from 1500 to 5500.

    • @FeulingParts
      @FeulingParts 8 месяцев назад +1

    That’s insane that a 9k mile brand new bike has that much crank runout.

    I'm not a mechanic so bear with me, but why the 472 over the S&S475? Is this cam a low end or higher RPM runner? I am doing a cam soon and want to be educated on my choice. Thanks fellas and love your videos!! Educational and entertaining!! Keep em coming!!

    A couple of questions:
    1. What tuner did Juan use on his bike after the install? V&H Fuelpack enough for all that work?
    2. Does Feuling take in customers to do installs 😂😂? They are super detailed and now want them to work on my bike 😊
    Great video boys!

    I like the insights of these products we use...their shop doesn't surprise me, it's one of the best products for these bikes we build🤘🛵

    Great video guys. If possible can you guys give a parts list of what all you installed? I’m sure others wonder this as well. And a general ball park of what it would be to have a shop like Feuling install the parts.
    Love the channel, nice work guys. Bing watched all the videos from Sturgis!!!

      We kinda pieced it together but the closest thing you can get is the Feuling M8 HP+ 472 Camshaft Cam Chest Kit which you can find for around $1700ish. As for cost from a shop to install, that kinda depends on the shops you have around you. You can always call around and see what they would charge for something like this. Thanks for the love! Stoked you watched all the Sturgis content!

      LOL, It's raining Tuesday- Friday, possibly Saturday in So CA. I'm not pouring concrete as a result, or riding. Bust out the ski's or snowboards if the snow level drops.
