Which Captain America Movie/Appearance is your favorite??? Also which Character would you like to see get an MCU Retrospective done for them??? Thanks for watching. Really adore getting to share these videos with you all!
I like your video, I personally disagree with your point that Winter Soldier isn't a Captain America movie but overall all I agree with everything else. Captain America is my favorite mcu character.
Thank you for making this video. I can't tell you how happy it was to see proper respectful tribute to my favorite Marvel character. I can't tell you how tired of him of nothing but batman, batman, batman, (nothing wrong with batman) but they talk about him so much you think there are no other hero out there. Often times Aspirational heroes such as Steve are misunderstood, as boring and nothing but perfect, but they take the wrong ideas from them. You are right the true power of Steve is his heart and selflessness, and standing up to what is right even if he clashes with those who claim to be doing right. There are some points I disagree on, I think winter solider hands down is not only the best Mcu movie, but Cap movie over all for it shows who he truly is as a hero but as a man. I also must say you did not speak much of Bucky and their relationship, their story to me is the real love story of the cap movies. I also disagree with Steve ending in Endgame. I hate with a burning passion that movie and what they did to Steve Rogers. Having Steve run back in time, and become selfish and go back to live a life with peggy, , and abandon Bucky when he needed him the most , was so out of character of Steve , in fact it ruined him. I agree with you about Chris Evans performance, he hit it out the park with Steve Rogers, but sadly the choices made for him in endgame ruined those 3 movies, and what they build up for Steve. Endgame is one of the most disappointing ending to a series and for Steve, I never cheered for that ending, and It ruined Steve going forward in the mcu, its like he is a second class citizen, now. and I hate that falcon and winter solider show. I also agree that before we got Infinity war I wish we had a story of what Steve was doing before he is called to action. Like a scene of Steve with Bucky in Wakanda trying to help him find himself again. I think that is what Steve would had done. I also wish we could have gotten one more Steve movie as cap before Chris Left. I am different for Civil War, I wish it was cap 4 first. But in the end thanks for making the video, and praising Chris Evans performance he made me fall in love with Steve Rogers and he capture the spirit of who Steve Rogers is and why only Steve Rogers is Captain America.
"Even after years of him looking like this... we still believe he's still the same scrawny guy." I have been absolutely stunned by how many scenes Chris Evans plays as post-serum Steve, but I still see pre-serum Steve. Especially the scene when he is in the plane and explaining to Peggy that it's his choice. Idk what it is about that scene, but it has pre-serum Steve written all over it. 👏👏👏👏
He always was to me but I never understood why I really loved the character but there's two channels that help me understand why I do too! So THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!
Probably subtle, but when Tony was leading the Guardians on Titan, you can possibly see on his face that leading and coordinating a team is not as easy as Cap made it look.
It really shows when the guardians practically all agree that tony's plan to fight thanos isn't great, In fact the only guy on titan that sees stark as a leader is peter parker
In Endgame, Tony blamed Cap for the team not being together, but Steve offered an olive branch. Steve was out fighting with the team while Tony was going solo as Ironman, even after Pepper told him to stop. Bruce BEGGED Tony to call Steve, but he hesitated so long that Squidward and friends came to destroy New York. Dr. Strange wanted to go back to Earth, but Tony wanted to chase down Thanos and fight him by himself. Everything that Tony blamed Steve for was projection from his own guilt. In my opinion, Cap wasn't the one to break up the team. He was the one holding it together while Tony was an egotistical, showboating hothead. Then, when consequences came knocking, he didn't even have the guts to take responsibility for his actions.
When I saw the first Captain America movie theaters I immediately felt a kinship with the character. When I was fresh out of high school, I tried to follow my dream of being in the military and got a medical rejection from all branches ( mine was bullshit). I tried for years to get a waiver and failed. Seeing how Steve never stayed down and never get bitter about his circumstances even after getting the Super soldier serum inspired me. I have a Captain America shield hanging in my room. (⭐️)
It's why I like endgame so much. I prefer the characters just having interpersonal drama to any punching of bad guys. Tho punching bad guys still is fun to watch
Cap in the MCU is a perfect example of how to write a character perfectly using subtlety, laconism and time. He has a fundamental role in the whole saga and yet he is so elegantly presented that you could forgive someone if he misses that importance completely. Of all the heroes, his arc is the one that compels rewatchs of the saga to further understand and appreciate.
Such a great essay on Cap. When I watched the movies I always thought that cap is one of my favorite mcu heroes just because of the fact, that all of his decisions were relatable and not self centered. For a lot of people it is that what making cap as one of the most boring characters because they like the drama of a Tony Stark when he does what is the best for him and how to deal with the criticism. But as you said cap is way more than just the never failing guy. He needed to involve into the hero he became and is still the small kid from Brooklyn which would get beat up just to stand up for the right. He is just exactly the moral compass that the avengers needed to do what is necessary. And that is something we aspect from a superhero but didn't get from the most of the other avengers.
I admit that I've come late to your video on Cap. That being said, Bravo!!! You have captured my favorite all-time comic book character's essence in your narrative. I always knew that Cap stood for America. Obviously the red, white, and blue of his costume and shield. But as you said so eloquently it's his selflessness. His commitment to his moral compass and his ideals that form his vision of what America really stands for. I'm 64 and I first saw Cap as a 5-year old on the cover of Avengers #4. That was it! I was immediately hooked. I have always identified with him. And though it broke my heart when Tony Stark/Ironman sacrificed himself for the future of the Universe, it was a fitting end to his story arc. But I couldn't stop smiling and crying tears of happiness for that last shot of Steve finally getting to be with the woman he loves. A most satisfying ending to The Infinity Saga. Again, a great job. I look forward to seeing all your other videos. I have indeed subscribed.😊
The part where he stood alone against Thanos' army to me felt like Cap was at one of his lowest points in his life. In the movies before Endgame, he sacrificed a lot (loyalty to the American government; friendship with Iron Man; reputation as one of the Earth's greatest heroes) and he still had the attitude to say "I can do this all day", but in this scene, yes, he still walked a bit toward Thanos' army, but his body language gave me the feeling that he's telling himself, "Sh*t, I can't do this all day, not anymore, not against these odds stacked against me". Cap is only good at fighting the likes of Hydra, not the likes of Thanos' army (we saw that in Avengers 3, he had a hard time punching some of Thanos' troops down cuz they're simply too strong that his serum can't top it). Look at what Thanos got: an army; each soldier being too powerful even for him or Black Widow or Hawkeye; a bunch of those space slugs from Avengers 1; the Sanctuary; and a lot of flat land with which to corner Cap. But he still stood there anyway. Himself, and a broken shield.
Captain America is the ultimate super hero. I love The Winter Soldier and its the best Marvel film in my book . It had lots of action, character development, espionage and liked that first suit he wore .
I loved the Captain America films. I remember one of my co-workers just HATING Captain America, and when I asked why, she said that people like that, honest, patriotic men who would risk and sacrifice for the greater good just don't exist. She was a big fan of Tony Stark, she said she could understand him.
I never cared about Captain America as a kid. To me, he as more boring than Superman. When they cast Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, I became a lifelong fan. He gave him the humanity I never saw in the comics. Chris, the directors, and the writers made him into a character I could root for and understand.
I think so many people view him as a simplistic or one note character because they don't see all the struggle he goes through. Yes, he always makes the right choice, but it's never easy for him. And Chris Evans specifically is perfect for capturing that since -- like the character -- he often gets mistaken for being a simpler actor but there's actually a lot of depth/control to most of his performances
Ill try to do one soon. The only issue is that when i do marvel stuff the it often competes with "marvel theory/discussion content" rather than film/story analysis, so the resilts can be really inconsistent. But ive wanted to do an iron man one for awhile now so ill probably get to it soon ish
Wow dude, I clicked on this video assuming that it was one with thousands of views, I'm incredibly impressed with this video, this is super well made and well done. Hope for a lot of growth and success in your future, keep it up!
Thank you! Still waiting for the algorithm to connect the content with the target audience but in the meantime just making the work as good as possible
Great video. I can't believe it doesn't have more views. Found you through the Glass Onion video, and between this one and that one, you've definitely earned a subscriber. Also: so glad you noted the shot of Steve facing down Thanos and his army alone. That shot of him standing across the battlefield from them is, to me, the greatest single shot in any superhero movie, ever. Another note: I have always loved that in Infinity War, when he meets Groot and Groot says, well, "I am Groot" he doesn't say "I am Captain America." He says "I am Steve Rogers." Because while he takes on the moniker, it was always propaganda and it wasn't who he is. He was Steve Rogers, the kid from Brooklyn who stands up to bullies, and not just a puppet of the government once he became super-powered. I honestly didn't really care about Cap before the MCU. Spider-Man was, and always will be, my favorite. I always kinda just dismissed Cap. But between the way Evans played him and he was written in this franchise, he vaulted all the way to #2 on my list.
Aye so glad you liked this! The youtube algorithm is wildly inconsistent with what pops off or not but even having one person say that the video connected with them really means a lot. I think mcu captain America really takes the iconic apsects of the character and then uses chris evans performance to ground it in the purest example of humanity.
Excellent analysis of The Star Spangled Avenger! Steve is a compelling character that has such a strong appeal to me. Chris Evans completely captures the essence of Captain America perfectly.
Thank you sooo much for making this great video. Your explanation is exactly why I love Steve soooo much. It’s not the shield or the suit. It’s the person Steve Rogers. Anyone can be Captain America with a good heart and morality but not everyone can be Steve Rogers. He is a special person by born. And I love him soo much. And you juat increased my love from him moree❤❤❤
Interesting interpretation on that line to Ross in Infinity War. I always thought the line " earth just lost its best defender" was in reference to Vision being wounded and unfit for duty.
Personaly...you had Iron Man who thought he is a genius and by building amazing weappons to scare the enemy, he helped spread suffering. Then he did a 180 and wanted singelhandely solve all the problems and keeping everyone safe with ultron. Ultron then went out of controll and that resulted in civil war where TONY who FUCKED UP REPEATEDLY tried to GUILT TRIP into owning HIS MISTAKES while claiming the MORAL HIGHGROUND! Then you had cap. Who stood for his morals and what he believed in even as a short skinny guy who got the shit beaten out of him just because he felt he had a duty and privilege to stand in the field of battle with his brothers and sisters for a just cause. Another great Soldier who joined a war but refused to kill was Desmond Doss. He refused to carry a weappon and went to war to save lifes. Not to take them. Cap does not care who you are, if you are hydra, or shield or tony stark. IF you try to pull bullshit and threaten his values of freedom you become his enemy. While others want to punish people before they become a problem and shackle them, Cap has a more open minded approach that would put him more to a mindset voltair had. "I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It"
If I could change anything about Steve's tenure in the MCU would be to rewrite Civil War as an Avengers movie and write a Nomad movie set shortly after Black Widow and Black Panther and tell a story about Steve at his lowest point and how he pulls himself back up to be a hero even if he's seen as a criminal. I kinda see it as a feature length version of the ATLA episode Zuko Alone, only with a more optimistic ending. I don't know what do you think.
That would be really cool. I like that Steve is a paragon of virtue and never hesitates to do the right thing, but I think a great struggle would be seeing him wrestle with what the right thing is. Is it better to just disappear and not help others? Does his evasion of the law somehow cause more harm than if he turned himself in?
@@TheWritersBlockOfficial I know I had an idea for a scene in said hypothetical movie that's seriously knife twisty. At the beginning of the movie Steve would attempt to help someone only to have that person turn him into Interpol or a similar organization. It would lead to a cool action scene where Steve would escape, but the implications are devastating the world he inhibits have completely rejected him. Even to the strongest spirit this can really weigh down on a person and I'd like to explore that and it's a shame we didn't.
13:37 I'm going to keep listening to find out why you think setups in AOU were not explored but at this point in your video I'm one hundred percent sure all of them had paid off
The Captain America movies, overall, are the best group of movies in the MCU. And Winter Soldier is the best single movie in the MCU. Would never have predicted that.
People often dismiss Steve Rogers as just a lab experiment while glorifying Tony Stark, but they overlook how much Steve inspired and influenced Tony to ultimately make the sacrifice play
Thank you so much! My Glass Onion video has been doing great numbers, so some of my lower ranked videos are getting trickle down views which is really encouraging. Glad these videos are connecting with people, and comments like this mean so much!
Before the MCU I actually disliked Captain America (partly because I'm British no doubt), but film after film after film he became my favourite of all of them. Characters that will do what is right, even if it makes them hated, are always the best. Just like Batman at the end of the Dark Knight. They do it because they can take it.
While I agree with most of the stuff in this video about Steve’s journey, what you mention about Steve and his character/heroism is actually why I absolutely hate how his story ends. For someone who can do this all day, he walked away. For someone who sacrificed everything for the cause and would be unselfish, chose to be selfish for his own desires. And for someone who once told Bucky that he was there with Bucky til the end of the line, he wasn’t. Peggy already lived a life, it shouldn’t have been Steve’s choice to go back and change that life so he could get the girl, she’s not a prize to be won. And even if Steve discussed it with Bucky, for Steve to choose to leave Bucky instead of staying to help Bucky recover and heal from all the trauma, especially after everything Steve risked to keep Bucky safe, is very out of character. Steve going back in time to be with Peggy, for me, undo everything all these films were building up to with his character. I simply cannot believe that Steve Rogers would ever walk away from Bucky, who’s clearly still struggling, just so he could go have his own happy ending. There’s just nothing heroic in this move. So everything you said about Steve, I agree with, but only up to a point, because I think by having Steve go back to be with Peggy, they ruined all the growth and what made Steve so special. That Steve and Peggy dancing end moment actually left me with a bad taste in my mouth as I left the theater. I didn’t watch two seasons of Agent Carter and see Peggy make a life for herself and move beyond Steve and find new love and happiness just so Steve can decide he gets to change her life for her, especially when she even said they couldn’t go back and it was time to move on and start fresh. So ironically, the MCU gave me the best hero and the worst hero in Cap in one fell swoop.
Amen! Thank you somebody who feels the same way I do about what Marvel did to steve rogers in Endgame. Like you I agree with everything you said, and what he said in the video. I love Steve rogers up until Endgame. Like you the movie left a sick feeling in my stomach after what they did to Steve, and Bucky I was never happy with that ending. In fact Steve seems out of character, threw out endgame. the only moment I liked was when he got thor's Hammer that was it. This was a great video but I agree with you on how it ended for Steve.
Thanks for bringing up the relationship between cap and iron man coz at the end they become one another while being selfish all the time Tony decides to sacrifice himself for humanity and while always fight for humanity at the end cap chooses a selfish path by staying with Peggy in the past.
That's not necessary selfish, he had no reason to stay in the present upon peace returning. Plus he always felt guilty for not keeping his promise to dance with peggy so that's resonable.
I don't I don't really honestly understand what you mean by Captain America's underappreciated out of the avengers cuz he's not actually many people love him which is why and many of his moments at the end of end game Winter soldier and civil war everybody claps everybody believes in him everybody cares for him
I'm in the minority because I love the Avengers suit and all I ever hear is that it's the worst one. It's old fashioned, but it doesn't look out of place, and it's not as complicated as the Age of Ultron, Civil War, and Endgame suits. I like the bolder colors and stripes and less complex patterns it has over the later suits. When it's World War II, I'm fine with what they did because they were pulling from all kinds of military gear and combining it into a suit, it looks awesome, but then after the battle of New York, the suits seem to just get over complicated just so that there can be a new toy or two every movie, my biggest complaints being the little hexagonal knots on the stripes. I don't think any of the suits are bad, I know that there are always different sources to pull from as artists draw new suits across the comic runs, I appreciate the scales in Endgame, and I know they need to be grounded enough to be believable, functional things that keep the people wearing them safe, but sometimes you just gotta make the suit. Raimi Spider-Man, Deadpool, (feels a bit like a copout, but) Brandon Routh Superman, Batfleck Batman, (I haven't watched too many CW shows but I'm sure there's some great ones in them), they got them right. Sometimes, you just gotta make the suits as they appear in the comics with a few visual flares to make it sell better on camera. With a few tweaks, Avengers Cap could look really good everywhere and not look out of place. Like leave his neck exposed, give him a normal helmet, bulk out his shoulders a smidge, we're good.
Really great points. I'm also much fonder of the Avengers suit now that we've gotten all the different variations. I think also after making this whole video, I realize its just the way the suit is lit. Like, I really adore how the Avengers suit looks when we see it in Endgame. Just goes to show how much of filmmaking is about different elements coming together. Same as how if you have a great script but bad actors or directors, the end product will fall apart. Plus, Captain America's design changed a lot less from movie to movie than the other Big Three heroes, so the way Avengers suit stands out makes for a much more refreshing take in hindsight.
I have always liked steve and i get confused when i hear that he is dusliked by some, He isn't a bad character just because he isn't as quipy as tony stark. Steve is probably one of the more complex marvel characters
I love that at the beginning of these movies, like you put it, Cap is selfless and will do anything for others and Tony is selfish and is very ego-centric. At the end of these films, those things still ring true, but Tony takes some of Cap’s liberties and sacrifices himself for others, and Cap in turn takes some of Tony’s liberties and chooses to be selfish by living out his younger years in the past with the woman he loves. The films at no point SPECIFICALLY mention this, and that’s just a consequence of good writing and directing. I had to think about this concept for a long time to understand it and it makes me appreciate both characters so much more than I initially did.
I disagree about Peggy. I love how strong she is. But you could remove her and it wouldn’t change much, if anything. Cap is my favorite MCU hero, but my friend says all he does is give one concerned look and complain 😖.
What about A Steve Roger meets This Peter Parker in the void or battleworld after doomsday! That could be good for the story. For Peter's Arc & Peter will also lead the young avengers in Avengers Secret Wars. Spider man 4 should be about Peter Parker rather than Spiderman.
most compelling in all MCU?! Dude what? lol.. not in a million years... the relationship between Cap and Peggy is literally the worst. I mean Dude promised his BEST FRIEND SINCE CHILDHOOD - until the end of the line - and then left for a girl he kissed once? yeah fuck no. That's bullshit. and literally the worst ending Cap couldve gotten, especially since we dont know whats going to happen with him with just being old.. he should've been the one to snap.
there is not avengers without nick fury, unless you mean IRL, in that case there is not avengers if the other mcu movies flopped in the lead up to avengers
What was wrong with the avengers suit? Was it becauss it seemed not as practical? I thought it looked very bright and bold and sure, much more modern ver of his propaganda outfit back in the day though nonetheless comicbook-inspired.
Well that's the problem: Rogers has ALWAYS been perfect, he NEVER fucks up, he was ALWAYS good. There's absolutely NOTHING for him to overcome. IT'S JUST SO BORING.
Aaa BULLSHEEEEE CAP NEW TONY PARENTS KILLER KEEP YOUR FRIEND CLOSS YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER. CAP HAD MANY CHANCES TO MAKE IT RIGHT. BUT WOULDNT LET IRON MAN HANDLE HIS WORST NIGHTMARE.
Okay idk if you have a best friend or not but just imagine your best friend being controlled by some evil organization and was forced to kill your friend's parents. Would you tell your friend about their parents' killer knowing your best friend might die? Even for a normal person it's really hard. You are just a ironman simp who doesn't think outside of the box. Steve roger's was one of the reason to shape ironman for who he is, his influence made him do the ultimate sacrifice without him tony would have never developed as a character.

Wow, I now have 27 minutes worth of explanation for why Cap is my favourite Marvel character

Each MCU movie had Moral vs Ethics and Loyalty vs Faith, but it was the Captain America movies that found a balance with all.
Everything special about Captain America comes from Steve!
Nobody cared who I was before I put on the Steve

I'm going to be brutally honest the MCU is not the same anymore and it hasn't been for the better

Captain America is incredible
Thank you, I love this portrayal of Cap.
This was amazing ... if you haven't done so already, I would absolutely love to see a similar analysis of Tony Stark.
Pretty please?
Steve Rogers is and always shall be the definitive marvel hero of all time. Period.
Captain America is my favorite superhero
1:23 Even when I didn't know much about him, I always thought Captain America was cool.

Steve Rogers made the mantle Captain America look honarable, not the other way around
Please do a Hulk one as well
I’m your 1,300th like
That's why captain marvel would never be close to captain america for mcu. She's a perfect robot
I love MCU Cap, heck maybe even more than the Comics. He literally felt like Superman to me more than Cavill did honestly..
People often dismiss Steve Rogers as just a lab experiment while glorifying Tony Stark, but they overlook how much Steve inspired and influenced Tony to ultimately make the sacrifice play
without safety you can't use freedom.
Also amazing video
Thank you so much! My Glass Onion video has been doing great numbers, so some of my lower ranked videos are getting trickle down views which is really encouraging. Glad these videos are connecting with people, and comments like this mean so much!
Before the MCU I actually disliked Captain America (partly because I'm British no doubt), but film after film after film he became my favourite of all of them. Characters that will do what is right, even if it makes them hated, are always the best. Just like Batman at the end of the Dark Knight. They do it because they can take it.
CAPTAIN AMERICAN 🇺🇸 is The LIVING LEGEND!!
amazing
Thank you!
So ironically, the MCU gave me the best hero and the worst hero in Cap in one fell swoop.
it was the only move they had. Cap was going and it makes more sense than him just leaving for literally no reason
You didnt mention the stealth suit from the beginning of the Winter Soldier and even his shield had a cover on it .
I have always liked steve and i get confused when i hear that he is dusliked by some,
He isn't a bad character just because he isn't as quipy as tony stark.
Yeah! I'm waiting till I have more downtime in my schedule of videos, but I'm excited to get back and do this type of video for Tony as well
I disagree about Peggy. I love how strong she is. But you could remove her and it wouldn’t change much, if anything. Cap is my favorite MCU hero, but my friend says all he does is give one concerned look and complain 😖.
Disagree if you remove her then Steve has nothing to be sad about when entering the future. He would have no character
What about A Steve Roger meets This Peter Parker in the void or battleworld after doomsday! That could be good for the story. For Peter's Arc & Peter will also lead the young avengers in Avengers Secret Wars. Spider man 4 should be about Peter Parker rather than Spiderman.
“Johnathon?”
Precisely
Russo Brothers👍
most compelling in all MCU?! Dude what? lol.. not in a million years... the relationship between Cap and Peggy is literally the worst.
Bad take
Rogers. No d.
He stood for what America used to stand for. If cap was around today he'd be cancelled by woke culture 😂
And there is not avengers without tony
there is not avengers without nick fury, unless you mean IRL, in that case there is not avengers if the other mcu movies flopped in the lead up to avengers
What was wrong with the avengers suit? Was it becauss it seemed not as practical? I thought it looked very bright and bold and sure, much more modern ver of his propaganda outfit back in the day though nonetheless comicbook-inspired.
It was made to look like that on purpose because Colson designed that suit for him.
Rip Colson
I really can't stand how yall keep shitting on Tony
Well that's the problem:
Rogers has ALWAYS been perfect, he NEVER fucks up, he was ALWAYS good.
There's absolutely NOTHING for him to overcome. IT'S JUST SO BORING.
Aaa BULLSHEEEEE
CAP NEW TONY PARENTS KILLER
KEEP YOUR FRIEND CLOSS YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER.
CAP HAD MANY CHANCES TO MAKE IT RIGHT. BUT WOULDNT LET IRON MAN HANDLE HIS WORST NIGHTMARE.
The opinion of every Iron man simp who thinks the MCU revolves around Tony Stark. Captain America Steve Rogers is and always shall be worthy.
