I am in a big depression lately and I cut myself off all religions and faith systems. I began to just stay in the nothing lane. No point, no meaning and no reason. I’m just done. There’s days I wish I can rewind time. But then there’s days I’d want to just leave, vanish, disappear into thin air. Living check to check, with a good heart, and never winning in life no matter how much I try makes me feel used, abused and thrown to the side. There’s days I wish I can have a car, afford a house and just have something for once but instead the evil people get it all while people with good hearts and hard working go through the worst. It’s like I take 2 steps ahead, I fall back 3 steps. If you’re reading this, I hope you’re happy and not in a dark place like me.
Broo, every day for the past few years i feel i feel immense abhorrence and have livid. I di wish and have been saving up for a car with no help, while paying bills in someone house. But can't bring women over as a grown man. WTF. MFRS who had everything given to them call me lazy when they all weigh 220+. B4 this job i got now, I went 8yrs with no job AT ALL but had over 500 applications out(my dad gave me 20 each week after i filled out alot) coincidence..!??! This system is to keep blk people at the bottom, as it was made off of us. We were abandoned my brother.
I'm in the deepest, darkest pit of hell you could possibly be in. Lost my only child, my 24y/o son to an accidental cocaine/ fentanyl OD in 2020, lost my grandson in 2021 at 3y/o to drowning and just lost my husband of 30yrs to sudden death due to a combo of shit! The little family I spent so many years nurturing as best I could (not having any role models, I was winging it!) just GONE....so meaningless.... really makes ALOT of sense to me right now😮. Just tryin' to cheer you guys up a little, IT CAN ALWAYS GET WORSE, remember that.... always. Wishing you all the best of whatever you want in this journey of life! Take care guys!❤✌️❤
This is the true quality content that RUclips needs more of. I so much appreciate the amount of work and time you put into this. Excellent job, and thank you. Unfortunately, this video deserves so much more than I can afford, but I did want you at least to know that your content is appreciated, and--considering how many creators seem to do the very bare minimum nowadays--it's a breath of fresh air.
When I was going through a depressive period in my life, I had pretty much chosen nihilism as my coping measure. I saw no point in anything, and I continued to stay miserable. Then one day came; it's a funny story, but I remember seeing a starving street dog looking for food outside. There was a hen in front of him, moving around, but the dog made no move to harm and eat it. Eventually, he walked away hungrily. It was not a big, life-changing scene or anything, but it made me realize that because of a few problems in our lives, we can't just forsake ourselves. Ever since then, I've been trying to get better, and I'm actually doing great.
It's a journey. We are trying to get home. Our job is to not leave anyone behind. We are together whether we act like it or not. Anything less or anything more is irrelevant.
Creator of Aperture, I admire your dedication in creating this philosophical content. It would be so mentally difficult for me to create this masterpiece. Wish you the best and thank you for your time in this universe❤
But what if we are nihilist and positive at the same time. What if we accept that life is meaningless thus, we strive to get the most happiness we could possibly have in our life time?
I find peace, comfort and joy in accepting and recognizing the generalized “meaningless” of life. I personally believe that “the meaning of life” is for each individual to figure out for themselves and there is no standardized answer that applies to everyone. Seize the day, and live for your waking life instead of worrying about dying to get to an un-promised, non-guaranteed “afterlife”.
people see everything have meaning base on something then they have conclusion that everything must have it own meaning, why thing must have a meaning? there are manything dont have any meaning but still exist. they exist with their own way, dont need any meaning base on anything. peoples are they with their moments, if dont have meaning then what? you punch me?😂
It's a ride, nothing more, but it's up to you to choose how exciting, boring, giving, taking, loving or cruel it's going to be. Although free will isn't really a thing and everything you end up doing was destined to be, you'll still make countless decisions during the journey, because that's what sentient beings do.
I have listened to this while drinking, and screamed twice. Generally, i believe that my life is meaningless. My primary purpose is to cause the least harm possible while i exist. It's hard, partly because the girl I've been seeing recently sees more to her life, but im struggling. As long as my life nets zero harm nor good, on a holistic level, it has been worthwhile.
That's a good starting point but the sole act of existing is already taking away from other beings so we can only achieve zero net harm if we do some good too. One can start by saving an animal for example, or planting trees.
I love women, I've had tons of girlfriends, but buddy let me assure you they are the death of good men when we internalize their emotions. We BECOME like women..I hear it in your comment..you're going soft. Don't let it happen. Her problems are not yours and every second you waste consdering hers is a second you fall behind. Women make us feel good about our bodies/penis but bad about ourselves overall..capiche? lol
Yet, if you, are always content, to just be, u wil eventually stagnatie, meaning u stay on the same spot, repeat and be, as what that seems show of to others is that likely, that u don't care,( as if no hope) as that means, they then don't care for u,too, yet some wil do tho as wel,, yet most wish u well, I'f you, don't give a fuck, u don't get a fuck. As by the law of equal exchange
My life used to have meaning, but when I was 24, I got chronically ill and have since then been bed bound for the last 21 years. I feel sick every minute of every day, I even feel sick in my dreams. I lost my job, my cars,my house and girlfriend. I haven't heard from any of my friends for over 15 years. Every night when I go to sleep I wish I would never wake up again. Health is the most important thing in life, as long as you are healthy you can have the world at your feet.
We have to participate in life, relationships, love all of it. Friends are supposed to change overtime, this doesn't have to be a bad thing. Many people go through horrific things and find ways to use that experience to make a better life in a different state. Not saying that is easy and wouldn't trade my situation for yours but yours tells me your a person of courage and very able to overcome your condition to still live your best life. As difficult as it is we all have to accept our path and move beyond our physical limitations into our true nature. Don't ever give up on your beautiful spirit, make a small effort to be part of the living world daily. You can have everything your heart desires if you truly give of yourself. Trust put into life what you desire out of it. Starts with giving kindness and love to the life around us, including ourselves. Be gentle with you, kind and that will overflow into the world around you.
Honestly, I fell asleep during a youtube wormhole and woke up to this, the part about expectation is spot on, I have long held this view and it has led to me being extremely happy and grateful. Great video (Y)
I actually found joy and peace in the realization of whole meaninglessness surrounding us. However for quite some time now I'm leaning more in the direction of the Camus' absurdism.
It's a journey. We are trying to get home. Our job is to keep making progress and to keep moving "forward" and to not leave anyone behind. We are together whether we act like it or not. Anything less or anything more is truly irrelevant.
Peace in the realisation of meaninglessness is optimistic nihilism, it’s the same “nothing has meaning” philosophy but it’s ok with that. I’m and optimistic nihilist, ik that nothing has meaning so whenever something happens that I don’t like I just tell myself that it doesn’t matter. There’s no one governing or judging us from above. Whatever happens just ‘does’ and that’s ok it’s going to happen so why worry? It’s really peaceful actually. Or at least I find peace in that

I'm a nihilist in the truest sense of the word I've spent entire times lying in bed in total silence just staring at the wall because there is literally nothing whatsoever to get out of bed for No job, no partner, no money, no friends, barely any family who are getting very old and absolutely no hope in ever changing any of my circumstances Any attempt to improve my life has only ever ended in failure and made my existence even worse I honestly can't bear it to the point that every single moment is painful and makes me beg for eternal oblivion I've been told the litany of supposed advice in every form from anyone who could possibly give it, but none of them help I simply am
Your goals remain your own. Work at whatever you like (or don't), but know that they're only "meaningful" to you and you alone. I may have published three of six in my series thus far, but I don't give a rat's arse if they mean anything to anyone else. I'm crafting my exemplary (and award-winning!) work for *ME*. Wow, this video really makes you reflect deeply! It’s fascinating how questions about nihilism can challenge our perspective on meaning and purpose. Great content-definitely gave me something to think about! 🤔👏
When you realise you have been used and abused your whole life , had all your dreams and loved ones removed from your life - existing is beyond depression - whatever survival of the fittest - just try and protect my energy. The paradox of being born alone, being in the school of life , then leaving , alone. I tell myself every day "nothing matters'., because ego is dead. I just wish my body was.
I think, my favorite way of thinking it is nothing matters and thats true. The sun will rise and fall with out us. But that makes the great moments and memories fhat much sweeter because we give it meaning
The interesting thing is, since our subconscious takes place in our brain, it is a part of us. We don’t have control over it, that’s for sure, but making decisions from our subconscious is still our bodies making that decision in some sense. So one could argue that we are still making that decision, even if it’s not free will. Some scientists discover new things accidentally, and they still get recognized for that, even if it wasn’t their intention in the first place. Because they did something, accidental or not, that contributes to society. I’m new to all of those concepts, but i find it all really fascinating. If we didn’t dissociate our bodies from our identity, if we weren’t animals who evolved into an intellectual world, we wouldn’t be so attached to the concept of free will. This left me with so many more questions than answers and i love it
It would be hard these days "if we didn't dissociate our bodies from our identity", perhaps in the forgotten past we may not have. Joseph Merrick (The elephant man) had two identities, one a hideous monster, the other a charming well respected man with exceptional business and marketing skills.
Life is the greatest joke ever told because although it amounts to nothing, you still have your senses to utilize to achieve a status of happiness within yourself and with your family. I choose to always stay busy trying to soak it all up and commend everyone who does the same. The alternative is spending days being an emotional douche always being apathetic and getting nowhere
Staying busy is more important than tryign to get somewhere. I've gotten there many times..you just wanna get further...its the #1 mistake I and my buddies made in life during our 20s-40s....we spent MILLIONS trying to make billions..what a bunch of idiots lol..we could have been enjoying ourselves much more than we did.. We partied hard yeah but we could have also had a relaxing life of luxury too..instead we re-invested in more more more..ok ok it was fun.. i'd do it again :) You're right then!!

I am a nihilist but i love science because it's the opposite of dogmatic tought and gives us an objective way to understand the universe and everything that happens
Yeah, but it's just .. science. You get the understanding of how things work .. and? It has made me unbelievably miserable .. life without knowledge is a life you have given away .. but life without any believe, is a life not worth living.
@@are_you_f_serious I respectfully disagree with that last statement. Life without any belief can be a life worth living because if you don't believe in anything, you gain a more objective perspective of reality which can lessen stress and anxiety, as well as provide a "whole" experience that you normally wouldn't get if you fill your mind with subjectivity. Think of it like a monk who has trained themselves to operate under a more objective view of the world (pure consciousness). That is sort of what you get if you were to live a life without any belief, which can be euphoric and thrilling, creating a sense of purpose and well-being. How is that not a life worth living? It sounds much better than being a prisoner of your own mind. Not knowing whether or not what you believe is true, but nevertheless is affecting your experience of reality. That, to me, is not a life worth living. I would much rather live a life of wisdom (knowing there is no truth) than a life filled with my own delusions (beliefs and bias).
@@are_you_f_seriousfor me the word "believe" is just living in a delusion with your very own brain to something that has no proof at all JUST for your very own coping mechanism or the opposite, or whatever it is you're gonna use for. If you said to me, "But you do believe that the Earth is round right? Therefore your own argument is defeating your ownself". I don't have to believe that the Earth is round because that is REALITY with a dime a dozen of proof. So why should I Believe in something or anything? That has to be the most useless & also the most illogical word ever in this entire Existence
"In a world without a God, we have to become Gods amongst ourselves, so we can truly ascend to a higher and functionally better state of being." Something I came up with recently that reminded me to some degree of something Nietzsche could have said, although I am not really a huge spokesperson for Nietzsche's thought processes. Anyway, self-optimization and striving to become better little by little over time is something that keeps me going, despite the realization that at the end of our days, we all gonna dance the dance with the grim reaper, no matter if you're a king or a street sweeper, and by doing so we will eventually return back to earth and lose our personhood. Still, for the time being, I will try my best to enjoy this ride and make my days count. Although admittedly, making my days truly count hasn't been a strong suit of mine in the past years, but my mindset is moving in that direction. Life is over so quickly, you get around 90 years tops for most healthy individuals, and puff, then it's gone. So I will always stay appreciative as long as I can derive some sort of enjoyment and personal meaning from living. :)
I would say this is akin to the idea that God is the ideal, that we should search to emulate. It's seen in Genesis, "God made Man in His image". We've been trying to figure out what that means for centuries. Some take it literally (Since Man looks like that, God must also look physically like man, like in the painting 'Adam's Creation'), while some take it metaphorically (God possesses the powers of creation and destruction, as do we. God possesses the ability of love and wrath, as do we. Etc.) And so, there is the idea that God is an ideal that we should seek to attain. If God is everything, it also includes everything *we* could be. It's extremely antropocentric and, dare I say, egotistical. However, it's difficult not to be overtaken with self-centeredness when so much of what characterizes mankind also characterizes gods. Including selfishness (implied or explicit). I think you would appreciate Carl Jung's ideas on the archetypes, and the archetypal structure of stories. I can make a quick introduction. Archetypes are the "ideal version of a given concept". Ideal, in this case, doesn't mean morally good. It means best. For example, one could say Cain is the archetype of the resentful murderer, while Jesus is the archetype of goodness. There's also the concept of wholeness, where you properly integrate the archetypes. There are a lot of fundamental archetypes within a person. For example, the persona, which is the mask we put on in social situations. It's not inherently bad, since it facilitates socialization and interactions, though it is a surface level representation of individual. There is also the shadow, which is that which is repressed. Childhood night terrors, unfounded dreams, traumas, untold desires (sex and violence, among others), etc. It is important to integrate the shadow to become a monster. A capable monster. But a controlled one. Someone who can control their shadow can do anything. You will see a lot of UFC fighters, such as GSP, who stay true to their character, and are kind, but harness their shadow in the ring to confront their fears and be capable regardless. Or NBA players, like Stephen Curry, who find motivation in insults and provocation, but stay controlled. There's also the Self, which is the entirety of your current realisation AND potential. There's a lot more depth, such as the interplay between all archetypes to achieve "wholeness", which we could represent with another archetype, that of "Jesus Christ". Carl Jung also mentions the "Image of God" often, in relation to humans. So perhaps that is also something that could interest you in your thinking.
That kind of reminds me of pantheism a little bit Which pantheism isn’t a religion (even though if someone asks you what you’re religion is you could answer Pantheism if you want since you think everyone and everything has divinity) but rather a philosophy that God is everything and everyone, because everyone and everything is God Since what you said here seems like a much more optimistic version of “God is dead and we killed him” and it seems more so like you’re wondering If Gods dead then what do we do now? What does that say about us as a species? Also as far as death goes death isn’t a moment it’s a process since we’re all slowly dying and each day is a bonus And once you’re dead you won’t even realize it happened, same as how when you were born you kind of just accepted it happened And that realization is why we’ve gone from the average lifespan being between 20-30 to 90+ years at this point So hopefully that helps you get over worry about death and make it easier for you to enjoy life I really hope you get to live an enjoyable life cause you seem like you have a big heart good luck

If you think of it more. There is no future jet, everything is a memory read to our consciousness. There is no clear border of past and future. The time itself depends on the state of observer, it's not just a time because a time as we see it is an illusion.

"Life is meaningless" is always looked at as a negative statement or outlook. That's not the case. Life being meaningless is the most positive thing you could ever say or think. Because you give your life meaning, whatever it is you do. If you want to be sad you will be sad, when you want to be happy you will be happy. If you look at everything from a negative perspective then of course life will be bad and you will be unhappy.
I've always been a nihilist and most of what you brought up I have already asked myself, I have written many essays which I've either kept to myself or shared with friends. the times where you said something along the lines you must think this is disturbing or uncomfortable to think about all I could think was. why would anyone be so out of touch with the world and themselves, so engrossed in their own lies and delusions that they never asked themselves those questions. We all collectively know those answers deep down, yet most decide to live in delusions simply to lower the burden. I live with it and bear it proudly. even something as clear cut as someone over 18 attracted to someone under 18 was not always seen the same way. basically what I'm getting at with this very strong example is that values have always shifted and will always shift. our moral compass is simply the product of us trying to conform to other's moral compass. another example would be taking your own life another very strong subject, why do I not have the right to that freedom? why is it frowned upon, not just that but actively fought against. this goes hand in hand with murder. the most common reason why murder is bad/illegal is that you are robbing someone else of their freedom to live. life and death are two sides of the same coin, so by logic stopping someone from taking their own lives is the same as murder, you are robbing them of their freedom to live or die. do you get where I'm getting at here? simply speaking our morals and laws are mostly in place for the profit of others not to actually protect our freedom. as such everything be it moral values or laws themselves are meaningless, our existence too is meaningless by extension. there is no meaning anywhere and the search for absolute meaning itself is meaningless. I could go on for days writing this single comment but I think that anyone reading this understands my point that values, morals and laws are only something we created to give use some meaning and as such are always subject to change and are not clear cut. which is why I couldn't care less about anything. in the end it's doesn't have a real meaning other than trying to please others around you for brownie points.
We are here to learn how to be our best selves, and then help our fellow man. Even the simplest of us are able to give. Thanks, forgiveness and love. These are the most precious and lasting.
Our birth day is one's Black Swan event. Having said that, this video makes me feel less alone, it made me realize that I am a nihilist positive. The less material I have to take care of the happier. But as discussed, it's true that one needs some financial stability, at least being able to use our body and brain to have enough money to have a certain comfort.

I was also enlightened by stoicism (I love the dichotomy of control) I now think that although there is no meaning it is up to the individual to create meaning. I think that virtue is enough. Let me quote from my person writing: "I used to wrestle with the question: Does the lack of inherent meaning or purpose to life or the mere fact that there are no objective universal moral truths imply that there is no reason to lead a good, virtuous life, however subjective, according to one’s conscience? Now, I can only say, of course not! Objects in the external world have no meaning or purpose besides what the observer sees. Yet, despite having no inherent value, they exist all the same. Much the same is life, except, unlike the rock, we are our own observers and can give ourselves meaning and purpose. Regarding my other point, isn't it true that if one did not live per their conscience, their conscience would disrupt their inner tranquility? Indeed, this is true and is all the reason to live a virtuous life."
I cannot be a nihilist because my heart gives meaning to life. It gives my inspiration and will to unconditionally love, to be with family and friends and gives me ambitions and goals to strive for. It can cannot really explained by the ratio, but only felt and experience in daily life. For this sense of meaning we need a deeper connection within ourselves. Some spirituality helps us with this re-connection.
I was until I grew tired of loathing things beyond my control. While I still do regard some things as meaningless, it’s less directed towards life and more directed towards what hinders my quality of life. Negativity holds little to no significance to me as it only serves those perpetrating it, and even then I understand everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs. I simply don’t care for that which intends to cause harm. Nihilism does have some redeeming qualities but I feel Stoicism has served a greater purpose in my life than Nihilism ever could.

Language and our ability to speak to one another. That's what makes us human. The fact that we have words and the way our bodies can come together to form them is pretty impressive and improbable.
When I was a young child, I can still remember my first conscious time I woke up to life, I opened my eyes and I was looking at a bedroom ceiling and I was laying on a bed, I then heard my Mum’s voice downstairs and I just automatically knew that she was my mother, anything that happened before this, I don’t remember anything from that at all.

I’ve always considered myself an “Optimistic Nihilist”. I don’t believe that there’s any point and that nothing I do or anyone will do really had any ultimate grander meaning. And I think that’s beautiful. We do things not because of some greater sense of duty but because we can. I am not nice to my friends and love those I love for any reason other then I want to be. I will die, they will die, we will all die and it doesn’t matter. I just want to do what I can while I’m here because I can. There is no meaning or reason behind what I do but I’ll do it because I can. I have the free will to do that and I will use it to be happy and make others happy. Nothing matters so do what makes you happy and what makes those around you happy.
Nothing matters; and you know this beyond all doubt? When you greet the afterlife, be sure to send me a postcard. At this point, you know nothing. Humility is a virtue, and it helps keep our egos in check. Do not claim to know that you are capable of determining the value of anything, including your own actions and behaviour.
I've had a rough time for a while and I'm beginning to understand why nihilism would appeal to someone. I am afraid of the idea of standing beneath the cross, explaining what I've done and why. Right now I do not want to meet my great grandfather, or have him and others look down on me. It would be very comforting to believe that there is nothing after death and that everything was meaningless from the start. I can't and won't, though. I need to be better. My past mistakes and failures will only make my comeback greater.
I get why some of us have a tendency for nihilism. It's part of our intelligence to consider the possibility that nothing matters. And as depressed enough as I can be to tag along with this notion, we ought to know deep down that it's a fallacy. Nature is our driving force and it has reason and purpose to justify things that exist. Our skills as humans in society have just the same value as a tree has a role to play in the forest. The fact that some of us may be in such circumstances blinding us from recognising this is sad. But every person has a role to fulfil. Even the worst of us
Nihilism with a bit of optimism to have a good time evey once in a while is what i prefer...we just are, everything is pointless but im gonna enjoy my time on this giant ball that floats into eternal space
I never really thought about how much of our choices are determined by things outside of our control. It’s weird to think that we might not be as free as we think we are, but also, maybe that’s okay. It feels like the more I let go of the need for everything to have a clear, predetermined meaning, the more peaceful I become.
I can understand how tough things might feel, but for me, staying alive is the only thing worth doing. Even though life can feel unbearable at times, I believe there’s always hope for change, and that future joy can feel sweeter when you’ve been through tough times. Life may be short in comparison to eternity, so why rush through it? Sometimes just holding on for one more day can lead to something better."
Similarly I too had nearly perfect ambidexterity until during early childhood and people kept treating me like a freak for it. Now I am partially ambidextrous and I'm curious did you retain partial ambidexterity?
@@JosephCable-dz9bp Not exactly. My left hand control is lacking, but I'm not entirely left brained. I think it warrants more research, and having balanced brain activity is most healthy.
In some countries they forbid writing with the left hand (superstition). it happened to my wife who is from the Philippines. now she writes badly with both hands. I think being ambidextrous is a natural phenomena.
The meaning of life is the meaning WE EACH give it. We all share this beautiful gift of life and so we all have the right to define it for ourselves. Emotionally and spiritually EVERYTHING you need is inside of you.
People say the gool of life is to be happy But the truth is happening is trempry it come and go We most incress our horizon to see beyond that happyness or sadness all are temporary. And try to be peacefully is both times ❤❤❤
I find great comfort in nihilism. When nothing holds intrinsic meaning, I feel liberated to live life on my own terms, pursuing the things I truly desire. In my opinion, it's a really good way to view life. :)
It's a journey. We are trying to get home. Our job is to keep making progress and to keep moving "forward" and to try not abandoning others or leaving them behind. We are together whether we act like it or not. Anything less or anything more is truly irrelevant.
@@nvmffsThere's no way of knowing if it has objective meaning or not. It's just personal opinion. The closest we'll come to finding out for sure is when we die.
If you understand that everything is possible with ‘time’ then the reason we are here is because eventually everything will happen. Entropy. Infinite time + energy = everything The reason we are here now is because now to us is our reality. Time is relative so don’t spend your life thinking about something that just is, and live your life happy and grateful . It is what it is and that is okay.

@@pamelameltonhuff583 _"just to rot and die"_ This shows how far our people have come from our original ways. Even so, there is meaning to each and every Human life. When we let this happen to our elderly, it is sure to come upon us afterward.
Regardless of whether life is meaningful or not, as humans we all suffer and that suffering gives us some awareness of the human condition; and it’s only because of our experiences we develop empathy and a moral code to understand that the unprovoked killing of another life is wrong… only problem is some people have a fucked up sense of morality or none at all… look at what’s happening in the Middle East. The senseless of all the violence … that to me makes me lose hope and faith. That feeling of a future that only seems to get worse with time makes me feel like… fuck nothing matters anymore… unless you stand up and be a champion for change.
Age has a lot to say as to how meaningful or meaningless life is to you. As an elderly man who has realized that my life today means just pain and sorrow and what lies ahead is even worse I have become a true existential nihilist. Just waiting and sometimes longing for that moment when it will be over. But it wasn't always like that. In fact not too long ago life had some immanent value. Short term goals, some projects that had no ultimate value were infused with an optimism and immediate meaning. That's why I say whether you become a nihilist or not is not a rational thing but existential. And it depends on your life's circumstances and how much you can still do in your life in order to enjoy it. Once that is taken away from you there's nothing left, just waiting for the end, your end. Then you " feel" a nihilist (provided you don't hold to some future world fantasy). About myself I'd say I am NOT a nihilist I FEEL nihilistic. It's more how I experience life right now rather than a rational, elaborate philosophical stance which as such makes no sense to me.
When i think about life, and the universe, the world and its societies. I do realize nothing matters. Not really that is. All there is, is you, and what you feel matters. That isn't negative. It isn't sad to realize that in 500 million years, every issue, every happy or horrible experience we've had will no longer matter. It is instead you stepping outside of the categorical box most of us live in, and seeing things as rational. What i find strange is that our society sees this, - the most logical and most rational understanding of human existence - as depressive, unhealthy, or negative. I see that as mass delusion.
I know right? I've got no idea why people immediately jump to such negative views regarding Nihilism and/or thinking that nothing matters. It can be incredibly empowering if you see it for what it truly is. I think it's because people are afraid in letting go of what they think they know that they use reason to justify staying where they are most comfortable. I myself fall victim to this delusion sometimes, but nonetheless that's what it looks like to me. We should seriously stop looking at Nihilism from a pessimistic lens.
@GlazerX over the years, it has become more confusing to me when I hear someone talking about their lives in some infinite ♾️ way. Like we all believe that we literally transcend all of everything known within the universe? You're right, though. We don't like to stray too far from what makes us feel comfortable. I do wish that there weren't so many people out there taking what makes us comfortable, and using it as a means to make their lives grander and the mass of us have to live in a far more difficult lot. It's this aspect of society that makes me boil inside. The part of me that hates how in order to live a bare minimum existence entails I abide by some asinine societal constructed ridiculousness that means nothing. Instead of us using our peers' ignorance for our personal gain, I don't see why we're not existing in a far more free way. One where we actually take care of each other and rise above financial dependence. An existence where we are striding to advance our society into discovery, learning about ourselves, our planet, and the universe it sits within.. Nothing may truly matter in the end, but none of us chose to be here. We certainly do not need to live in such ways as the ones we're existing in today. P.s. sorry, I went a bit off-topic there, lol.
@@nocturnalsingularity3138 It's okay if that confuses you. I believe the reason why some people say things like that is because of the belief that human beings (and all matter) are a part of the universe. If the universe is supposedly infinite (assuming one believes that), and we are a part of it, then it isn't that far of a reach to say that we (life itself), too, are infinite. Some people see life as a cycle of rebirth, and that life itself will end when the universe ends, because if we are a part of the universe and the universe is supposedly infinite, the process of rebirth will continue until the universe we collide with ends. I hope that made sense. And I agree. Society should be about community and individuals coming together as one big family working to help make the planet a better place for our future descendents. Instead we have created a world where you are judged by the things you do and believe. If nothing truly matters in the end, why can't we accept our differences? Why can't we accept that it's okay to not agree with each other? I think it is because many of us aren't willing to let go of our egos and/or ways of thinking & perceiving. No worries. I love what you've typed here.
@GlazerX yep, It certainly does make complete sense. Although I have a nihilistic view on life, I also LOVE physics and astronomy and have a separate yet similar view on us / everything being all interwoven within the fabrics of spacetime essentially weaving us together in some frame of interconnectedness. I don't think that it is intentionally done in some grand scheme with an agenda built into it. It is just "if conditions are right, and 'it' can happen, then 'it' will happen." Maybe one day, one billion years from today, our particles will come back together on a distant planet within a separate universe, and we will be somewhat reborn again. I'd looove that. Lol but I do not think it is how this thing we all call consciousness works. It would be awesome though lol We as a species have completely screwed up. Or the ego that is inherently built into us has screwed us over. We do not always seem to have the ability to empathize with others when their respective lives are disconnected from that of the one suffering. And I mean, we supposedly civilized ourselves in order to make life simpler and more convenient for ourselves. Instead, we created different forms of suffrage. I'm willing to bet that another alien race from a place where life make a little bit more sense would look at how we've structured our society's and think, "well.. why'd they think that was going to work?" And I've loved what you wrote too. Infact I only wrote what I wrote because I had a feeling that you'd be somebody with something interesting and intelligent to say.. you did not disappoint
@@nocturnalsingularity3138 Haha, likewise. Thank you for sharing with me your thoughts and insights. I think the idea that life is meaningless makes life the most valuable thing. The idea that nothing we do really matters makes me think that it means we can do whatever we'd like with our lives. Sure, no one will remember you 100 years from now, but couldn't that be a good thing? If no one remembers me, that means I should be free to do what I want with my life (within reason).
Here is something i wish for everyone. i wish you all a paranormal experience, the kind where you see with your own eyes things take a controlled flight on their own, rising a good foot and a half , travelling 5 feet, landing, few seconds later take flight again and describe the same arc it took before, and once again landing where it started, no sliding, no momentum present. that moment changes everything.
LIFE IS MEANINGLESS FOR THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING BUT FOR THOSE WHO DON'T SUFFER ARE SUPERNATURAL AND THEIR PURPOSE IS TO MAKE THOSE SUFFER AND IT GIVES THEM HAPPINESS AND ENERGY OR LIFE.

Exactly I don’t think there is any meaning to life like we are born and well die but we create our own vision of it
people see everything have meaning base on something then they have conclusion that everything must have it own meaning, why thing must have a meaning? there are manything dont have any meaning but still exist. they exist with their own way, dont need any meaning base on anything. peoples are they with their moments, if dont have meaning then what? you punch me?😂
Why do you believe that there has to be a meaning to life.. why not think life just is?
You have a subjective answer there is no actually meaning to life we are insignificant meaningless beings.

As a writer and someone who is facsinated by philosphy, I thank you sincerly. This gave me quite a bit of inspiration for my novel.
This left me with so many more questions than answers and i love it
what is "we".
Its the subconsious that define "we"
It would be hard these days "if we didn't dissociate our bodies from our identity", perhaps in the forgotten past we may not have. Joseph Merrick (The elephant man) had two identities, one a hideous monster, the other a charming well respected man with exceptional business and marketing skills.

Ah, yes, science. Which was born primarily out of religion, which most would say is the source of dogmatic thought.
Thankyou, this is the exact video I wanted to watch on monday morning. It will help me go through monday a bit easily.
Etc.)
And so, there is the idea that God is an ideal that we should seek to attain.
That kind of reminds me of pantheism a little bit
Which pantheism isn’t a religion (even though if someone asks you what you’re religion is you could answer Pantheism if you want since you think everyone and everything has divinity) but rather a philosophy that God is everything and everyone, because everyone and everything is God
Since what you said here seems like a much more optimistic version of “God is dead and we killed him” and it seems more so like you’re wondering
If Gods dead then what do we do now? What does that say about us as a species?
Also as far as death goes death isn’t a moment it’s a process since we’re all slowly dying and each day is a bonus
And once you’re dead you won’t even realize it happened, same as how when you were born you kind of just accepted it happened
And that realization is why we’ve gone from the average lifespan being between 20-30 to 90+ years at this point
So hopefully that helps you get over worry about death and make it easier for you to enjoy life
I really hope you get to live an enjoyable life cause you seem like you have a big heart good luck

Life is truly meaningless.

I used to be a nihilist but even that lost its meaning.
Have you ever wanted to die because nothing matters and everything is meaningless... But you can't die
Hands down my fav channel of all time !
I want to be happy but I'm sad . So should I want to be sad and then I'll be happy?
2 minutes into the video, I subscribed. Great content.
I’m glad I’m a Nihilist, too bad that means nothing.
At last someone with a sense of humour...I think!

Wonderful ! Have no words !
Used to preach nihilism until I started reading stoicism. Best decision ever
I was also enlightened by stoicism (I love the dichotomy of control) I now think that although there is no meaning it is up to the individual to create meaning. I think that virtue is enough. Let me quote from my person writing:
"I used to wrestle with the question: Does the lack of inherent meaning or purpose to life or the mere fact that there are no objective universal moral truths imply that there is no reason to lead a good, virtuous life, however subjective, according to one’s conscience? Now, I can only say, of course not! Objects in the external world have no meaning or purpose besides what the observer sees. Yet, despite having no inherent value, they exist all the same. Much the same is life, except, unlike the rock, we are our own observers and can give ourselves meaning and purpose. Regarding my other point, isn't it true that if one did not live per their conscience, their conscience would disrupt their inner tranquility? Indeed, this is true and is all the reason to live a virtuous life."
@@SilverBack-xi3ln not a religion, it's the concept of living with values and virtue.
Is there an external world?
Nihilism isn't even anything, tbh.

Life being meaningless is meaningful in its own way
Language and our ability to speak to one another.
A nihilist wouldn’t click on this video, let alone try to finish it since nothing matters (but thanks a lot for the video it was really helpful)
Nihilist - "A person who believes that life is meaningless and rejects all religious and moral principles." - Oxford Languages. Youre right , nothing matters in the grand scheme of things but that is different, we still feel pain and pleasure and if you were to stab me in the chest, i will feel pain in my nerves and react. people are here to kill time and seek stimuli , nothing matters but we still seek stimuli as humans
I clicked on it because I was curious. Then I checked comments. I still don't know what it is about, I know the person above me wrote something about it, but then I read the first 3 words and stopped. I saw the video is longer than 1 hour. Then I thought,hm I have better stuff to do than think about random stuff having no practical impact on my life. What am I?
Life is meaningless until you find it's meaningful then you realize it's meaningless again and so on.
Like when you fall in love, or witness the birth of your child.
When AI discovers how to monitor our brains to predict our actions we will never beat them
I get why some of us have a tendency for nihilism.

This shows how far our people have come from our original ways.
Nothing matters life is pointless I've done everything you can do and it's always the same
Age has a lot to say as to how meaningful or meaningless life is to you.
I don’t feel any life on this planet is more meaningful than the other.
Including the life of a virus?
It's only meaningful to those it benefits

Both advance their society in the same way

“I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow”
“How exciting”
It's the ultimate mystery we don't know what not to do.....
Hope not suicide
It's my belief that evil and 'monsters' were created by the ancient versions of religion.
It would be awesome though lol
We as a species have completely screwed up. I'm willing to bet that another alien race from a place where life make a little bit more sense would look at how we've structured our society's and think, "well.. why'd they think that was going to work?"
And I've loved what you wrote too. Infact I only wrote what I wrote because I had a feeling that you'd be somebody with something interesting and intelligent to say.. you did not disappoint
@@nocturnalsingularity3138 Haha, likewise. Thank you for sharing with me your thoughts and insights. It's these moments of socializing and exchanging "valuable" information that helps us to better connect with one another.
You have quite an interesting mentality. I am very glad there are individuals like you walking this planet, and I wish you the best in life, whatever that means (lol because nihilism).
I just love reading these comments. Many new nd different perspectives.
There is no within reason only crime
Here is something i wish for everyone. i wish you all a paranormal experience, the kind where you see with your own eyes things take a controlled flight on their own, rising a good foot and a half , travelling 5 feet, landing, few seconds later take flight again and describe the same arc it took before, and once again landing where it started, no sliding, no momentum present. that moment changes everything.
Ah yes. The depression channel.
It's a good type of depression
LIFE IS MEANINGLESS FOR THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING BUT FOR THOSE WHO DON'T SUFFER ARE SUPERNATURAL AND THEIR PURPOSE IS TO MAKE THOSE SUFFER AND IT GIVES THEM HAPPINESS AND ENERGY OR LIFE.
I started off as a pessimist. Went to Egypt, became a Nileist, grew up and became a Nihilist, went to church, became an Anarchist.
To rebel against what!!!systems human nature ....its too little too late too much....
