I’ve got to say if the US government wouldn’t have taken Ali’s 3 prime years away from him, we may have seen a bunch of KO’s in his record. I firmly believe Ali and his management would have dealt with Joe Frazier, Ken Norton and all the fighters who he would’ve dealt with on their way up the ranks.

Sugar Ray Leonard is still for me one of the most complete boxers of all time. Incredible hand speed combined with the ability to turn a fight with a single shot made him one of the most lethal finishers in the history of the sport.
My dad grew up in the 70's and 80's; always says that's his favorite fighter and watched all his fights. It's interesting to me because my dad is from Puerto Rico, moved to the mainland in the late 70's and became a huge fan of SRL.

But there were better in various weight classes And Roy got KO d... Cold... Still in his prime years.. In my judgement. That DQ s him for p4p consideration. He relied on speed to disguise his amateurish defense and awkward sloppy movements When his speed slipped and he face fast hitting power guys... BOOM! Zzzzzzz
He knocked Hearns out 8 years previously at Welterweight, in the 14th round of their first fight. Was their Draw at Light Heavy a more impressive result for Leonard than that? Probably not. Equally so? Maybe.

Julio Cesar Chaves has a skull that is thicker than every other man and it was discovered upon xray after he retired. That was actually a key component to his prowess.

I appreciate your knowledge and ability to translate that into something anyone can understand. I am a soldier and thought boxing was boring. It wasn't until I started to see the level of skill that can be achieved. How someone can come from behind a guys low gard, pulling there hook in to slip the punch behind the arm and straight into the liver. Or just being able to change direction of a punch in mid flight without losing power. Thank you for what you do for the sport
What is amazing to me is how much power a punch carries. Imagine in training hitting a huge bag of sand with both hands 100s of times a day. When you take someone like Foreman or Tyson, one of their punches carries enough force to knockout down a brick wall. This is why many boxers get their jaws broken and end up with brain damage later in life.
OMG boxing is the most unboring sport there is, I'm glad your eyes are open, combat with rules is great because like in MMA if you just take someone down break a limb, or sleep someone that means death in real fight, but the art of hands takes a gentleman to do, and appreciate, you sir are now a gentleman
There's a video with a breakdown of the fight between Duran and Barkley, I believe it's on the Motivedia page. It's a really great explanation of the fight tactics and the adjustments being made in real time. James Toney as a fat and out of shape heavyweight is another boxing master to learn from. You'll enjoy it and learn a lot from it. Boxing is so much more than two guys just throwing punches at each other. There's so much that goes into it , it's like human chess and a lot like poker ,it takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master, where the right answer is always " It depends ". Enjoy the journey. I'm a soldier also. 2-10th SFG (A).
Mike Tyson wasn't just powerful, he was fast but his power was so scary it overshadowed his speed and they're also other fighters in this video that 100% owned both attributes
I still feel like it was the speed. At the end of his career he still had the power but he was just a short muscular guy who lacked the speed to close the distance.
12:30 ref making sure Ruddick has all the time and power he needs to land a clean full power punch to the head of a already completely past out opponent. Top job.
For real, the uppercut that made his opponent retreat to the ropes before those two lethal right hooks looked like something straight out of video game like teken or something. It was just brutal to watch. Straight up warrior stuff.
I'm glad that I was lucky enough to catch most of these fights when they happened. It was a real golden era for boxing , so many excellent fighters fighting each other. I hate how these days the biggest fights don't get made or if they do happen , it's years after they should have been made. Also , fighting once a year is b.s.
The craziest thing is through Canelos loss to Mayweather, he took the knowledge from that fight and became the most dangerous man in the sport. Both offensively and defensively.
Tyson is the universal proof that hitting fast does not mean lacking power. What make those punch rifle possible is mostly the resistance of the opponent, but most of these guys just hit like trucks. A knockout is also done out of sight most of the time. A diret punch in the face will rarely knockout, you have to hit out of the line of sight so that the brain cannot prepare for the impact. Tyson was really good at this

For his part, Floy M. had a great defense and counter-punched well, but within his defense he was allowed to almost turn his back on his rivals, as if refusing to fight and it seems to me that in some fights he must have been demanded by the referees in that defense , who sometimes turned his back on combat with his movements, it is not denied that he is an excellent boxer, but he cannot call himself the best, he is great. But it does not have many characteristics as it calls itself, these are not the accumulation of championships or records, it is boxing quality as an art of attack and defense.
I think he was the greatest boxer of all time! .... but. ... the judges were very kind to get him near to 100 wins. Cant take anything away from the guy he was a rock!
I definitely agree. Only I would add to that list that he is a humble and genuinely a stand up person. I had the pleasure of him ending up in my truck one night in Vegas after one of his fights. I looked at him and was like dude, I know you from somewhere. He asked if I followed boxing. It dawned on me who I had in my truck after he asked me that question. He was very cool and gracious with his time. Sometimes I look back and think, damn, you lucky SOB. You got to hang out with Chavez!
The crazy part about the fight between Taylor and Chavez was that Taylor took such a beating that he never recovered from it. In his following fights he looked physically broken. He never reached his potential because of this.
Meldrick got hit a lot by other fighters. His damage was not from one fight. he was too much a warrior. He also fought people out of his natural weight class like Terry Norris and Aaron Davis.
that fight is the perfect example of why floyd is the best if Taylor would have just boxed the last rounds his dumbass would have won but he wanted trade shots in the middle floyd stick and move style keeps him out of trouble but puts his opponents in trouble

I think the most important skills in boxing is head movement, footwork and precision in that order. If you can have great movement it doesn’t matter how hard you hit or how fast your combos are if you can not get hit and score.
I agree, head movement footwork and precision are the main key to success in boxing know matter how hard u hit or fast u throw, but I would add to this, a sharp mind is definitely a even bigger key. Floyd mayweather jr

17:15 underrated is not a word I enjoy using bc JJ could take contenders heads off in weight classes well beyond his which I wish got more attention but man this knock out was so brilliant. Bc Norris made a mistake, but he didn’t lose concentration as the original broadcaster alluded to in the moment. Only on analysis was it clear JJ was willing to eat Norris’ shots electing for water in the basement as he knew he’d lose a decision but only needed one big shot. The angle at which he threw that right he’d been choreographing all fight as a liver punch. He was dropping his head and slightly tilting to the right in what I always thought was him tipping his punch overtly. Superb patience to throw at the right time bc if he missed, Norris was way too smart to fall for it again. Turned it over and pivoted into what I still think is one of the most devastating single blows I’ve ever seen. Even JJ held his pose for a split second revealing how devastating it was with Norris having a vertical nap

There's so much that goes into it , it's like human chess and a lot like poker ,it takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master, where the right answer is always " It depends ". I watched the Chavez/Taylor fight live. It was thrilling. But they went over the replay again and again. The ref asked Taylor twice if he was okay with no answer just a blank stair into nowhere. Richard steel followed the rules that are there to protect the fighters.
Gtfoh with 4 secs left and he is standing up smh boxing is rigged
If you watch the fight you’ll see that the ref is unaware of how close to the bell it is. The red light that indicates there is 10 sec left in round lights up behind him. Taylor was asked twice if he was all right, he had no response.

Taylor wasn't standing, and he didn't got up by himself, he was holding the ropes all the time even when was asked by the referí to walk towards him..
Agreed, is still one of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Primarily because of the desperate knockout at the end. Often attempted but rarely accomplished.
I still think Roy Jones had the most balanced approach with speed and power and amazing footwork .
Its great to see the Taylor vs Chavez which goes down as one of the biggest travesty in sports ever ...Sad ,I watched this with my father and I was way to young to understand until later in life -Amazing Video BTW and very , very well done !
Razor Ruddock’s “smash punch” has to be the most unorthodox devastating punch of all time.
Roy Jones Jr leaping flash punch. Knockout power in both hands from ANY angle
Bullshit Tysons Bolo shot. Body upper cut with same hand!. Watch it used to perfection against Jose Rebalta
@@bbinion3248 but it wasn't a knockout punch Ruddock's smash punch was like detonating dynamite it was really a knockout punch
You, sir, are a legend in your own right. This latest volume in your repertoire is simply a masterpiece.
That Ike Quartey and De La Hoya bout is one of my all-time favorite fights. I have seen it over a hundred times. I used to work in an electronic store back in the early 2000's. I taped it on VHS and had it displayed on all of the TV's for everyone to see. Needless to say they got fed up of me after while but I didn't care.
Eventually I had to stop playing it because too many customers stood up watching it and got too excited. 😁🤭
Speed: all the speedsters in this video
Power: all the powerhouses in this video
Bruce Lee: Speed & Power R.I.P
No question the Taylor vs Chavez right will go down in history as the best ever! Great job putting this production together. BX...you are top shelf !!
Holy shit, Ruddock's last punch against Dokes was absolutely brutal. What was the referee waiting for?
He had the best seat in the house. He wanted to see that punch😂
Ref had $5 on Dokes

man i love this channel, so much love going into restoring the footage. wish we could just have these guys restore old fights
BRO THE QUALITY ON THESE PRE HISTORIC VIDEOS ARE CRAZY AMAZING JOB ON REVIVING THEM ALL
Being from Albuquerque, I took great interest in Tapia vs. Romero. Tapia’s hand speed made Romero look like he was swimming in wet concrete.
Chavez was really something to behold in his prime. He wasn't the fastest or strongest in his division but he had accuracy and pressure unlike any other. Even in some of his closest fights his opponents looked so battered and destroyed while he seemed in much better shape!
That clen really summit to behold in greatness right?
Yeah man he looked so good against your average Uber driver it was incredible
@@maximovaldes9518 yeah Uber drivers like Oscar De La Hoja and who Chavez fought twice in his late career.
@@kingz8681 late career? He was only 32. & delahoya bullied the poor guy couldn’t even make it past round 8. Chavez was never elite
@@maximovaldes9518 remember what happened to the the boxer who originally said that? Yeah, he couldn't even go past the 4th round against Chavez.
There is a reason why Dundee and d'Amato were always saying,, Speed kills"
Those old fights look amazing! They need to have entire catalogs of fight footage put through that process.
Mike Tyson was unnatural because he had everything in his package. Speed, power, mass, agile, balance, smart. Just everything a boxer needs.
My god, I miss when HBO Boxing was the event. Appreciate the trip down memory lane
Just finished re watching Greatest chins in boxing then this pops up. Perfect Timing.
Boom. Perfect timing
@@tipperary1082 BOOM HEART BEATS TIMEING
But khaan...lmao
All really good mentions but Oscar was probably the best very respectable man
One thing that power punchers seem to have over fighters known for their incredible speed is that a fighters punch is the last thing to go, where his speed and/or chin is often the first..
Mike Tyson had a combination of speed AND power. He was fun to watch!
That music at the intro has me hype for this breakdown. I only have one question... Are You Ready?
I said ARE...YOU......READY????
I was waiting for the "BREAK IT DOWN!" but it never came 🥲
BREAK IT DOWN !!
Which music is that
@@theinformationbomber7102 DX- Are You Ready ?
Speed is important, but not as important as timing. Power is important, but not as important as accuracy.
Tubbs body really said:
hold on!! Hold tf on!! What was that?! Felt like a ton of bricks hit my temple💀💀💀😭😭
Dude that lead left hook from long range really makes you wonder if tubbs really was faster than tyson... arguable imo
How is Mike Tyson not in both, he had speed and power, due to his shorter limbs
Yeah I was thinking the same thing too
That's what Tyson was most famously known for
Speed power and accuracy
He was a deadly combination of all 3
Same here
Same
1 dimensional fighter …whose technique left him as his dedication strayed
@@jayclarke9611 lol we aren't talking about the media hype ali here mate
we are talking about Mike Tyson not some draft dodging coward who ran his mouth more than his hands and ended up with Parkinson's after that
Freaking amazing. This is why I hold mike Tyson in such high regard because in his best days he was not only powerful, he was so fast, illusive, shifty, and fought very frequently all so impressive.
Damn, that Chavez vs Taylor fight was as close to a real life anime battle as we will probably get, the show's opening started playing at the last second and Chavez became stronger.
Great analysis. Man, those two punches made me shiver. Never seen anything like it. Looked so unreal, like it was a video game.
We appreciate the effort you put into these my dude !!! Your the best at what you do 👍😎🙏
DX background gave you chills huh?
thanks
In physics alone speed is actually a factor in power output. When both your mass and speed are in perfect sync then you'll for sure generate great power alongside with proper body mechanics and use of center of gravity.
Good point.
Pernell Whittaker was so incredible
