Canelo has been lucky with a few decisions but you just can't take away from the fact that He is fast, he hits hard, he has a wonderful range of punches, his body shots are awesome, and he can take a punch. One of the most exciting boxers ever.
Yes, he kind of reminds me of Oscar de la Hoya, don't get me wrong, but I didn't like Oscar too much, I know he defeated some good Mexican boxers, and I mean good ones, including Julio Cesar Chavez, but I think Canelo would beat De la Hoya if they were fighting around the same time
@@sizzlechestmcmurphy4365 Depends on who you ask. It’s easy to look at the fight overall and say GGG outperformed Canelo. But boxing isn’t scored overall is it? It’s scored per round. It’s not 1 fight. It’s 12 individual fights. And when you separate each round into it’s own instance, it’s much easier to argue a win for Canelo. In a similar fashion, you could argue GGG won too. It could’ve gone either way. But to say GGG got robbed is complete bull shit. You won’t catch any true boxing fan saying some dumb shit like that.

Man. Im so glad someone is finally bringing this up. This new attitude that casual boxing fans have is irritating to high hell. Im so sick of people calling fighters "taxi drivers" from the comfort of their computer chairs.
tbh I dont think all the Jake Paul circus stuff helps either in that regard. Now that the guy knocked out a professional champ and brought in a lot of casuals, I assume
Casuals make boxing more entertaining, we have to teach them about previous greats who did it better , hopefully they will be fans forever and not disappear when their favorite fighters retire
I think canelo expected his punches to have more of an effect on bivol, he wasted a lot of them hitting the wrong places, got gassed and frustrated but the better man won that night, still doesn’t take away from Canelos legacy, all ATGs have losses and some even avenged them (ala Lennox Lewis) hopefully Canelo will come back stronger and even better then he was already. Respect to both champs!
As a Mexican boxing fan i thought he was a hype job for the longest time but at one point u have to give him credit for improving almost every fight. At one point you have to admit, even if they media hyped him he grew in to truly one of the great boxers of our time.
@@strafer8764 I just thought it was an important perspective considering Mexican fans tend to get a rep for being blinded by Mexican boxers. You don't have to take it personally.

I think too many so called 'professional boxing pundits' would be hard pressed to back up their statements with anything other than their basic prejudice towards them. You admit to your prejudices & then go on to explain why despite them, you still come to the conclusions you reach. It's pretty easy to come to a choice between your opinion and those journalists/pundits in deciding what to believe & you win hands down.
I have to say not bad on the negative listed on Canelo's history compared to all the others who's list goes endless . I think Mayweather would win them all 🤭
It is tough to call one guy the greatest outside of eras and weight classes, especially with so many great Mexican boxers in history. Chavez, Sanchez, Finito, Canelo, all amazing fighters. Marquez Barrera Morales and others as well.
All the OTHER Mexican boxers DIDN'T DO WHAT CANELO HAS ACCOMPLISHED..SO NOT TOUGH..CHAVEZ FOUGHT MANY GUYS WHO HAD MORE LOSSES THAN WINS""AND MANY ONLY HAD 16 FIGHTS WITH 9 LOSSES..I KNOW .I WAS A FAN AND SEEN ALL HIS FIGHTS.BUT NO ONE WIL TALK ABOUT THAT..I AM NOT BIAS,SO WILL BRING THAT UP

Me being from Puerto Rico i always enjoyed the rivalries in boxing we have had with Mexico and Canelo is the real deal. Definitely a throwback fighter that we probably won't ever see again. Instead of hating on him like all these wannabe boxing analysts that we got on U-Tube, appreciate it cause ain't no fighter including the retired Floyd puts it in on the regular, not fighting just once a year but 4 to 5 times a year. To me thats a legend in the making.
When was the last time time he fought 4 or 5 times times in a year? Only up and coming fighters do that , you talking about a 147 lb or 154 lb canelo? Lol

He's fighting bums like Yildrim and MacBuukk for email belts. Not unheard of to fight bums. Floyd is still the best. Floyd beat up actual hall of famers like Manny Pacquiao and also completely smashed Canelaroids head in. Floyd also never tested positive for PEDS unlike Canelaroid. Floyd is TBE

I like how objective this is, canelo IS guilty of some things, but his greatness can't be denied. Also fighting is a corrupt business so examples are always gonna be there but the most popular fighters come under more scrutiny.
I appreciate the fact that he tries to offer balance with certain criticisms like moving up to cruiserweight (which any other fighter would be praised for) but there are still times when he blanketly throws out criticism without balance. For instance he points out Canelo's positive result but doesn't mention that the trace levels were in fact consistent with contamination and his hair follicle test came back negative. The whole situation wouldn't even be a violation by WADA today which acknowledged they were wrong for not having a threshold for contamination and have since changed their policy. Also Canelo is one of handful of fighters in the sport consistently doing random blood testing when many other top guys aren't doing it at all. And during his claims of weight bullying he suggested that Josesito Lopez was brought in as a sacrificial lamb to make him look good when Canelo was actually scheduled to take on high risk champ Paul Williams, but Williams was involved in a career ending accident, so Victor Ortiz was lined up as a backup but he ended up losing an upset to Lopez, which is the only reason Lopez ended up filling in. Canelo would go on to fight undefeated Trout in his next fight. It should also be noted that Canelo is a former welterweight himself There are also trivial complaints that aren't worthy of mention like Abel complaining about Canelo's handwraps which was only his attempt to create a distraction, like when he complained about Canelo's facial hair.

The most shocking paart about him is his ability to adapt, overcome and win against every single style you throw at him: He has beat power punchers, slick defensive fighters, people who rely on jabs, bigger and smaller opponents, slower and faster oponents, leftys, and the fact that he can always come up with a plan and no matter their style and attributes, beat them. That is something you gotta recognize.
The issue I have is, 80% of pro boxers are using something. Yet on Canelo gets mentioned. Also he beat the top fighters he could at the time. There was no ducking.

You didn't mention that the concentration of chlembuterol on canelo was .7, and the current concentration for PED use is above 5, which confirms the case of contaminated meat, wada even put a minimum concentration level, which previously didn't have, they just tested any concentration as possitive. edit. I changed the concentrations since apparently I did not remembered them correctly, but that does not change the fact that it was below the threshold.

Canelo isn't a dying breed. It is possible for talented fighters to unify titles. Its just that the present Corporate sector managing boxing has contractually tied up boxing. So Boxers cannot Unify Titles and monopolize a lions share of profit margins like the past and upset TMT lol.. Canelo outsmarted them (as a private agent) and has an outstanding commodity not even mentioned on this video. His efficiency, as a Fighter. This is a quality few other Fighters in America expand upon. Efficiency is the ability to pursue an offensive plan at any given moment and deviate due to a split second unforseen circumstance. Where a modified angle, different punch, by a different hand, thrown in a different direction, at a different target exposes itself. Which presents a new opportunity to seize upon because it also demands less energy with a greater maximal impact for harm. Canelo is a Master at efficiency when moving forward. I've seen it, understood it, and been a student of the ring to know. After 48 fights, I can see its impact. Canelo is the best pound for pound fighter in the world at the moment. No doubt about it..
Well done. I think Canelo has certainly earned his spot as the current P4P Champion. He's fought some great fighters and unified at 168 by beating a couple of slick boxers. He may not be the greatest Mexican boxer yet...but he's the clear number 2 right now and I think he still has more great fights in him. I think GGG won the first fight and had the second a draw, but those were close fights. I feel bad for GGG, but I think Canelo has proven his greatness. The guy fights consistently unlike so many of these other fighters who claim greatness, but only fight once every 18-24 months.
How he earned his p4p spot ! By cherry picking overmatched European fighters nobody wants to see but you dumb emotionally attached canelo fans. Canelo is a glorified D level fighter fighting D level competition. Canelo can't fool me. Real p4p fighters fight the best and not fight bums nobody never heard of. You also have to remember one simple thing, When you are comparing fighters from the past, like Arguello, Duran and Chavez at champions being defeated by them, and then you tried to compare Canelo's wins on champs, you must realized that when these guys were in there were only 2 champs per division, and not 4.

What canelo is today compared to when he fought Floyd is light years away. Its been spectacular to see actually. His movement defense boxing prowess and power have all increased tenfold and I've never seen anyone improve that much ever. Except when klitschko got Emmanuel Steward. But nowhere near the amount of improvement as canelo. Always been tough as a coffin nail. But now he's seemingly indestructible
Personally, I think choosing Bivol is a next-level move by Canelo. Win or lose, that decision is super impressive. People are downplaying Bivol's ability, but besides a possible Beterbiev, I really don't think he could have picked a tougher opponent. This fight has convinced me that Canelo really is a throwback. He's pursuing excellence. I'm not a fan, but I definitely appreciate what he's doing. This could change the sport for the better.
Oh it’s easy. Failed tests for PED’s, weight draining bigger opponents with behind the seem clauses. Giving fighters like KOV a short camp which didn’t matter anyway since he wasn’t even trying. Canelo is a great fighter and is exciting to follow because he actually fights champions back to back, multiple times a year and he is up for challenges!
Anyone who saw him feint Billy Joe out his socks then smash his face with thunderous uppercut can see Canelo is the real deal. Like all great boxers he's got the benefit of the doubt from the judges in some close ones..Can't really tell how he stacks up against all time greats until his career is over.
Canelos performance against BJS was one of his weaker ones imo. He's produced much better performances, and it's not like the punch laid him out cold, his hands are just so heavy that it cracked his orbital. BJS was doing about as well against Canelo as anyone outside of FMJ and GGG (1st fight). That being said, if he carries on like this for a few years, Canelo will undoubtedly go down as one of the all time greats.
But most boxers who get the doubt from the judges usually give rematches or win a close fight (example: mayweather vs maidana) give rematches. Lara beat him comfortably and he knows it that's why he never rematched.
I agree canelos a very good elite fighter but i cant downplay his controversies or how his mamfans try to cover it up yet bring up other fighters drawbacks but still hes quality but i can call him #1 mexican fighter skill wise hes the best especially since salvador sanchez(a complete fighter already) died way before his prime and i dont believe in holding back praise.
He's definitely in the Top 3 best Mexican boxers of all time with Julio Cesar Chavez and Juan Manuel Marquez. He is this generation boxing superstar. With a granite chin, good defense, punching accuracy, and improved punching power, there doesn't seem to be a lot of boxers that can beat him right now especially since there are fewer slick elite level boxers like Mayweather and Lara these days.
Also, Canelo is no longer a green 23 year old fighter. Lara would have nothing for this version of Canelo. BJS and Plant were big, rangy and skilled fighters with good movement and he chopped them down.
Same folks who trash Canelo are the same ones who don't know anything about boxing. Same folks who say Canelo has fought "cans" are the same ones who hide behind a keyboard. I'll give props where it's due, any fighter that gets up and puts in the work has my respect.
Hey, loved the video. If you were to do another I’d love to see one on Josh Taylor. The only other undisputed champion that absolutely no one talks about. He’s taking 0’s like taking candy from a baby at the moment. Probably will get another when the Catterall fight happens and would take his last 7 opponent records to 162W - 1L which is insane.
Without a doubt the best boxer of today and this area. Canelo, limited yet sending all these boxers to the hospital. All fighters think they can beat Canelo until they get in the ring with him. And the drug thing it has been debunked. And the language thing well , Canelo does not have to speak English to sell out a a stadium of 73000 in the US Just a list of fighters Canelo has fought. Charlo's bro outed him on a live stream letting everyone know Charlo declined an offer from Canelo. Canelo focused to be undisputed at 160, but Dereyanchenko priced himself out, which would made him his mandatory to the fight Andrade, Then IBF block the fight in Oct 2019. You have to be on crack thinking that Andrade was more dangerous than GGG. Canelo fought GGG something that Andreade has ducked. Daniel Jacobs, Kovalev, Callum Smith Smith, and Billy Saunders, Plant. Let that sink in. His next is going to be with another champion. Let's see who has Charlo fought🤔 yeah a no body. Who is Charlo going to fight next? Probably a no body. 😂😂😂. Oh another thing if Canelo would not know how to move he would of cut off the ring so well against on of the best movers in boxing to set up the punch that broke Saunders face. The Charlo dude does even want to fight Benavides. 😂😂
I followed canelo earlier in his career and what struck me about him was that he didn't duck anyone who came knocking, at least that was my impression.
Greet content ! I can feel you put a ridiculous amount of time and effort into this installment. Long live boxing ! RIP Showtime. This will be the new standard for covering our sport and your leading the charge!
Everyone underrate Canelo's IQ too much. Even when he fought GGG, he knew that he was not able to break that granite chin, that's why he used devastating body shot, GGG's body is more vulnerable than his granite chin. Good IQ + more versatile and complete ability = KING
Man I needed this video after the other one on his defensive hghlights was deleted... Also I couldn't agree more with "If you got a gripe with Canelo for picking... then prepare yourself for what's to come" indeed man, such a few are willing to take risks into real fights ... @@christiansoldier77 You can of course debate on the outcome of some of these fights as mentionned in the video, but I don't see anyone else willing to fight guys like GGG, Callum smith, kovalev and the upcoming Makabu..., if you fight yourself you know that againt punchers like these one small mistep can be career ending Nevertheless, to go your way, in terms of risk taking I would still prefer a beterbiev or a bivol fight insted of Makabu's, but you can't always get what you want :)
I am very lucky I am witnessing greatness, despite all the shortcomings, I give him a lot of credit. It is hard to do what he does in the ring. For anyone who has been in the ring before, whether a sparring match or real fight, knows what it is to stand in front of another fighter and trade punches. Respect all fighters.
This almost feels like one big Canelo Hate Fest... lol At the end of the day, his performances and resume will be held in high regard. He only fights the best available and puts in work. Everything from his movement, punching power, speed, and execution are above all, better than anybody I've watched in recent years. Definitely the p4p greatest rn. Whatever anybody has to say to combat that can easily find flaws in every other fighter too. But when it comes down to pure boxing output and performances, Canelo is without a doubt at the top of the food chain in his weight class and any catch weight surrounding it.
This was a great watch. As a Canelo fan I feel this is a pretty balanced view of his abilities. You're absolutely right about Canelo being the last of a dying breed. We're into the era of the social media boxers now...

It should also be noted that Canelo is a former welterweight himself
There are also trivial complaints that aren't worthy of mention like Abel complaining about Canelo's handwraps which was only his attempt to create a distraction, like when he complained about Canelo's facial hair.

I don’t understand how people can still doubt Canelo supremacy.
Oh it’s easy. Failed tests for PED’s, weight draining bigger opponents with behind the seem clauses. Giving fighters like KOV a short camp which didn’t matter anyway since he wasn’t even trying. Want to fight a generally unknown cruiserweight just get another belt. He just wants to break records. He doesn’t care what the fans want. That’s why he never dogfight Gennady again. I really like canelo and I’m Mexican and he has grown a lot through the years but imo his biggest problem is that he doesn’t throw a lot of punches. Apparently he doesn’t have the stamina to sustain his attack at a high rate. It’s kind of frustrating sometimes to see him walk around the ring when the fight is still undecided. The opposite in this regard would be Julio César Chávez, the definition of Mexican style.
💯 percent Wrong on Defence, 87 that’s bs, I haven’t seen canelo get hit flush with any power shots in any recent fights, he always rides the punches by turning his head. Power shots is where it counts. He deserves a 94.
I dunno if you would consider the Danny Jacobs fight as recent enough but I pretty much agree with you. That is the last fight I can remember him getting absolutely clocked with one specific, ridiculously clean punch, granted if it affected him in any way he certainly didn't show it.
He is greatest boxer in his generation maaaan
Mayweather
@@IAMHIPHOP974 We talking about Canelo here who is a different generation to Mayweather. Mayweather was the greatest boxer of his generation no doubt but in my opinion his fights are boring, certainly his later fights. But as i say that’s just my opinion, yours may differ.
He was beaten by Floyd and by GGG, no amount of belts can change that
@@CiaranHand Floyd did and with GGG I have it 1-1 and honestly taht that draw made him a better fighter than GGG, specially because GGG has always been scared of going up to 168 and HBO sold it to everyone and I that he would knock out Canelo but couldn’t in 24 rounds.

23:57 yeah keeping Canelo at bay really worked for Callum Smith who has a longer reach than Makabu and Briedis by quite a way and can move around the ring a lot better than both of them.
The reach isn’t what matters as much tho , it’s how physically strong they are. Makabu is built like a tank
@Billy Cain I have compard them and Smith is quicker and has the better reach, it's that simple. Briedis is the best of the cruiserweights but that's not saying much. Of Canelo can do a couple of fights in cruiserweight he beats Briedis.
@@Rods_Bar and Canelo isn't... GGG couldn't drop him, Canelo's adding on 30lbs and Makabu is not relatively as hard a puncher as GGG (as in if you added on that weight to GGG in a hypothetical he would punch harder than Makabu).

Thank you. I haven't enjoyed a boxing video like that in a while. Great 👌🥊❤️🏴
I'm pretty sure Canelo's move into cruiser indicates he knows he needs to do more to earn the place in boxing history that he is aiming for. His current division just isn't deep enough.
Wajajajja is exactly the opposite ,he’s moving cause he didn’t want to lose a fight ,then moving up Make another boxers to cut weight so they’re easy for canelo and very comfortable not being close to real champions that can take a belt from him ,he lost against Lara ,and both fight against ggg

Just not the fighters out there like Mayweather that's all. He was schooled. Younger or not, Mayweather was nearly 40 so that Balances out. That fighters out there some where, it's just bumping into him is the problem, in canelos case ducking him.

I'd absolutely love it if you made a "rise and fall" video on Sergio Martinez.
