There’s no money in being the good guy beside manny and Oscar there’s not many “good “guys in boxing. All the attention goes to aholes. Plus like they said if he had been from Mexico or USA he would have been huge
Julian Jackson, if you happen to read this, we still love ya my man. Thank you for your contribution to boxing and what a gift you were. Some of the best highlights in all of boxing are because of you. What a monster right arm you had my friend. You are a legend and your footage has established that for the rest of time.
Sadly, there ARE thousands of boxers just like this young man ,who were screwed over their whole careers. I personally know 3 of them from the 90's and early 2,000's that were all better than 99% of the boxers we see today.....FACT
This Jackson guy was always overlooked whenever people talked about great power punchers and KO artists of that era. In my opinion, pound for pound, Julian Jackson and Mike Tyson had the most devastating fists of the 80's. Watching their KO reels seemed surreal. It was kind of like watching a movie. For example, the Rocky franchise. It was like watching Tommy Gunn, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago's scripted knock outs. Thank you for putting this video out there for those who don't know about Julian Jackson. Very well edited material here.
It’s sad to see Julian never received the recognition he deserved back then. It’s a shame he wasn’t fairly compensated throughout his career. He was 100% championship material. And seems like a genuinely nice man. Very humble. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is his health and it’s obvious he’s doing fine. No signs of CTE, no slurring or words or inability to complete sentences. God bless he came out of those battles with his health not compromised.
From what I know, every boxer who has fought since a child and had many pro fights will have some level of cte, you won’t recognise this in a small interview. For example his family will notice mood swings and short term memory issues
@BadBoy Bill yes sir. No recognition bc I was there to watch Tyson every time. I really didn't even know this guy to be honest. I was a young kid but Tyson just was a like waiting to watch a Trainwreck and all over events on that day didn't matter.
Jackson had a brilliant mind set - "Win Lose or Draw - I'm always a Winner" - you don't have to be a boxer to apply that kind of positivity to anything you want to achieve in life!
There needs to be a movie 🎥 about Julian! The world must learn about this incredible fighter! Sadly, I've never even heard him. Smh. Thank you for the video we all appreciate it very much! We see you Julian, your skills and talent in the ring will be never be forgotten! Salute to one of the greatest that ever done it! Yessuh ✊🏾
Wow. Never heard of him before. He definitely deserves more acknowledgement in and out of Pro- Boxing. Sport's is a young Man's game. These Legend's understand that.
Always loved watching Jackson - devastating power. Pound for pound he's up there with the hardest punchers ever. Never a dull moment when this guy was fighting.

@Amazon Associate he did have one detached retina in his left eye. That happed in the herrol grahm fight in 1990, the fight he won with knockout of the year. He fought till about 1998 with that injury. I see julian all the time. He is doing great. Still slim and trim training kids at his gym and serving his community very well. @@juancarlosbelboder2534 Glad to hear he is doing well. One of the greatest fighters, in and out of the ring and one of my all-time favorites. Tell him many still enjoy his fights on RUclips and we are still rooting for him in life.
Back in 2015 - 2016 I would speak to Julian Via emails in which we would talk in depth about punch power and some of the things he did to maximise his Knockout Power. He explained that he always had Naturally heavy hands and his first Coach who he refers to as Willy taught him how to use these heavy hands through boxing Technique... Julian talked alot about Balance and Core strength with Timing was what made him so effective when throwing bombs. A secret he spoke about he referred to as " Rooting " Where you train your toes to Curl down when momentarily bracing yourself to throw a punch.. He says when you Curl the toes down and grip the floor you can feel every muscle in the body Rip into a punch... Balance was something he said was extremely important if you want to punch with maximum leverage you need solid planted balance... Jack Blackburn taught Joe Lewis the same secret about the " Rooting " Julian said he never touched weights only pull ups and push ups with Abdominal exercises. In the gym he worked on Speed and Timing... Even using the heavybag he always focussed on speed because his power was so natural. As a teenager he would work on fishing boats and had to Reel in large heavy nets full of fish which he said strenghened his shoulders and Back Muscles which he believed had something to do with his power.
Working on those fishing boats would have been great for his shoulders and back muscles but if he didn't continue to work those shoulder and back muscles their strength would have returned to how he was before he did any fishing! He had a great build....naturally.......I've seen it myself. You can work all day on your physique, but the single most important ingredient of your build is what you were given by nature!!
Glad to see he's still alive and thriving. Doesn't seem to be a common post career scenario for most pro boxers. Sometimes being 'a star' may be worse than the more humble track of Jackson.
@@b1bo840 yep unlike Gerald McClellan who Jackson plus the other dude who fought Gerald for the championship gave him brain damage and he was put in a vegetative state

I've been privileged to have watched one of his title fights on tv when I was a kid, the punching power that he has is just scary at times. It's great to see a lot of fans now acknowledging how great he was as a fighter.
I got to know this man on a personal level. Him and his family some how showed up to the little hole in the wall church I went in Henderson Nv. I just got to speak to his son again after years of not speaking and glad to hear that he and his family Are doing very well back in the Virgin Islands.

This guy was amazing. Piss poor management ruined what could've been one of the biggest stars in boxing history. So many people watching Boxing during his career had no idea who he was because he was always early on under cards for Tyson and Chavez fights. Terry Norris ended up with more recognition and Jackson knocked his ass out. Its a shame he wasn't handled better.
I concur... Look at some of his knockouts. That one on Graham... Wtfh? Out of absolutely nowhere, boom. Fight over. I kept thinking: who is this guy? Why is he not more legendary? Same here, totally missed him. Wow.

Very true , I can’t imagine how many dudes he gave CTE too
From what I know, every boxer who has fought since a child and had many pro fights will have some level of cte, you won’t recognise this in a small interview. For example his family will notice mood swings and short term memory issues

Jack Blackburn taught Joe Lewis the same secret about the " Rooting "
Julian said he never touched weights only pull ups and push ups with Abdominal exercises.
Pullups would keep that strength in his back I think@@KryptonitetoallBS

I can only speak for myself and my faith and the world IS corrupt.correct.. but nothing to do with God though.. everything to do with fallen man.. turning his back on God ..free will...that's my belief, that's my faith.. just giving you my take on things.. other than that have a great day..
Have always really liked Julian Jackson, as a fighter and as a person. Thanks, BLTV.
The fact that not many people know him is a testimony that he hasn't been given his due place and respect by boxing world.
Another middleweight of the same era Mike McCallum doesnt get the recognition he deserves either......Alot of fighters ducked "The Body Snatcher" but not Jackson! Even though Julian was soundly beaten!
Yet another victim of Don King !
FACTS ... because I just learned about him this very moment
Until now ?
I was a boxing fan in the 80’s, and I have never heard of him.
He was knocking out cold his opponents. I never heard of him since watching this video. What a champion.
A very skilful boxer and much more than just a power puncher. His defence and movement was solid and quick, as he proved against some accomplished opponents. It's little use having power if you get clipped before you can use it. Carried himself and presented/spoke very well, too. The upscaled footage is great to watch. Thank you.
I have always thought Tyson was the hardest hitter id ever seen but this guy was ferocious. Maybe all he needed to do was bite someone's ear or tell people he would eat his opponents children like Tyson did. This kid was far too nice but man could he throw a punch.
Man the precision, the patience between punches, and pure power… it’s like his fist are heat seeking missiles
