    Thanks. I'm helping a friend in Palm Springs with a battery problem. He didn't believe me when I told him that some batteries even today require distilled water. Including my 2015 Camry with OEM Toyota battery. I shared this. Hopefully he won't be sold a new battery, alternator or worse before trying your topic here. Thanks again.

    This information was sooo helpful!! Thanks, Tony!! My Toyota truck was stalling out / not starting. I took it to 7 different mechanics. I was quoted anywhere from $700.00 - $1,400.oo to 'correct' the problem. I was beside myself and went to visit a friend. He checked the battery, added water and the problem completely disappeared! And has been fine ever since! Too bad I didn't see your battery from the start!

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  4 года назад +3

      If the water level in the battery is low you can use distilled water to top off the battery. Don't use tap water it can damage the battery. If the battery terminals are corroded they should be cleaned with a wire brush, a battery terminal cleaning tool or sand paper will work too. Make sure that the batter cell caps are in place before cleaning the battery terminals, you don't want to get any gunk inside the battery.

      If the battery is over five years old it could be due to an old battery. It really depends on what the car is doing when it doesn't start. If there is no power when you are trying to crank it over you may want to have the battery tested.

    @davidwilliam1406 5 лет назад +2

    There's not water in that battery there's acid!😨 And it gets weak from charging the battery, this is why you have to replace the water because the cells get weak and the plates are exposed to air and cannot produce electricity, battery's make power by a chemical reaction, after filling the battery clean the terminals and the top of the battery. Current can run across the top of a dirty battery, and battery's won't charge or give the correct current if the terminals are corroded. Make another video showing cleaning the terminals of a corroded battrey
