One of the GREATEST Male voices in Rock & Soul History....DAVID RUFFIN.
This dudes voice takes me somewhere else man. Incredible pipes.
Classic! Smokey Robinson and Ronald White wrote "My Girl" for The Temptations in 1964 and they took the song to number one in 1965. When you're read for more from them check out some of these: "The Way You Do the Things You Do" (1964), "Get Ready" (1966), "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" (1966), "(I Know) I'm Losing You" (1966), "I Can't Get Next to You" (1969), and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" (1971).
Another Smokey Robinsin collab from 1965 - "It's Growing".
Love the Temptations
THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS, Melvin Franklin Eddie Kendricks and DAVID RUFFIN. They were just incredible SMOKEY WROTE THIS SONG AFTER HE WROTE MY GIRL FOR MARY WELLS ……
Don’t forget there psychedelic soul from the 1970s !! Great stuff
This song [My Girl] 1964. Was written by the great Smokey Robinson and done beautifully by David Ruffin and the Temptations.
the dance moves they are doing was taught to them by a co-origopher from motown. all the groups went through that
One of the greatest bands ever. They did a smokin job on this Smokey Robinson song.
The OG"s They used to say often imitated but never duplicated.
Gordy wanted Smokey Robinson to sing this . But Smokey convinced him to let . Ruffin and the Temptations sing it . Rest is history
@@phallicwarrior I love Smokey, but Ruffin did it like nobody did.
This is not the real song by legendary Temptations, which is one of the greatest songs of all time. Y’all def need to. react to real CLASSIC Five Temptations My Girl.
True..not the REAL version!!!
Hey Jason I think this is from the movie. You can clearly tell that that's not David on lead or The temptations doing the backing.
Thank you for pointing this out, I thought I was going crazy! This is definitely not the Temps singing. They do not sound this different even when they are singing live.
These are the REAL Temptations!!!
I was saying that after the first line. Dude need to cough or something. The Temptations voices are so much smoother.
This song knocked the Beatles out of first place in the Top 10. The Temptations had it all….the voices, the choreography, the smoothness, the look and the great Motown song. What’s not to like. Please react to more Tempts. They had a ton of hits. Thanks Shawn and Mel.🥰
No it didn't. It knocked Gary Lewis and The Playboys "This Diamond Ring" out of the #1 spot on March 6, 1965, which was also my 17th birthday 😀. On March 13, 1965 it was knocked out of the #1 spot by The Beatle's "Eight Days a Week".
@@ptournas Neither one of those groups would've knocked the Temptations out in this day and time.. Believe that!
@@elisageorge1798 Well first of all, I don't know who the second band is you're talking about, I only said The Beatles knocked this song out of the #1 position. If you're talking about Gary Lewis and the Playboys, as I said, The Temptations took the #1 spot from them with this song.
And as far as The Beatles go, no I don't believe it. And here's why.
Starting 7 years after The Beatles broke up (1977), six live Beatles albums were released, three of them hit the top ten in the U.S., the last one to chart here was in 2013, all three went Platinum.
After they broke up 8 albums of compilations of their recordings hit the top ten, again all going platinum. Another 4 hit the top 25 and the last one to make the charts was also in 2013.
Five boxed sets charted in the top 50 between 2004 and 2013.
Their last single that charted in the U.S, was six years after they broke up.
On the other hand, The Temptations last song in the top ten was in 1972. They had 37 top 40 songs and 4 #1 hits compared to The Beatles 50 top 40 and 20 #1's. And The Beatles only recorded for less than eight years.
So, while I love The Temptations and have loved them since I bought my first Temptations single back in early 1965 (My Girl), I still have to consider reality in choosing what to believe. It's all speculative and subjective anyway, so no disrespect meant to what you choose to believe.
@@elisageorge1798 Bruh, The Beatles have a whole compilation album called #1 where each song went to...(guess what?) NUMBER 1.
@@MikeyA5693 Not in my hood back in the day. White people in America put The Beatles up there. Majority of black people wasn't digging them.. Black people didn't even talk about the Beatles round my way. I saw old videos of white people jumping up and down going crazy over The Beatles 😂 While most black people was about Marvin Gaye,The Temptations,The Four Tops Bobby Womack,Johnnie Taylor ,and such.
You need to hear them do "I wish it would rain"
I grew up on this music. It's still the best music ever recorded. Soul music rules!
David Ruff’in’s brother Jimmy Ruffin was also a singer and had hits including “What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted”
I'm glad you mentioned that looking at the dance moves in this song because that very topic is one of the things that made Motown such a great place and allow them to have such a long and and great history with their groups in their all of their singers whether they're and a group or some other format because everybody and Motown learned dancing they had to learn to choreograph the choreography for each song and they danced with each song they sang The Temptations was probably the one of the first in the greatest to do that but that's a staple in every Motown hit just look at any Motown artists that you review and watch them dance.
true but LOVED that Temptation strut
OMG! My favorite Temptations song. Listened to it a million times.
I love the dancing....
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Temptations!!!!
This one really took us back. We were fortunate to see these guys in person. Wow.
IMO THE GREATEST GROUP OF ALL TIME
So many great artist came out of Motown , I grew up listening to all these wonderful musical performers. Thank you for helping to revive Motown music. We need happy good feeling music brought back into the American people, Long liv Motown.👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏
The Temptations always had choreographed dance moves for every song. Check out more tv performances of them.
Love the Temptations music. This is part of the Motown era & they had a lot of hits in the 60's - 80's such as "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", "I Wish It Would Rain", "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)", "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone", "I Can't Get Next To You", "Treat Her Like A Lady", "My Girl" etc. They were known for their harmonies, choreography & dress style.
Everyone from that time the 60's knows this song and as soon as you hear it you have to move to it...
The great Temptations loved David Ruffin and his brother Jimmy Ruffin ❤️❤️❤️the dance routines the songs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️great singers
Great reaction. They are definitely the originals here. I met Eddie Kendricks when I was a kid. Then later on as a grown woman, I met Dennis Edwards who took the place of David Ruffin. It is Dennis Edwards singing lead on Papa was a Rolling Stone. Have a great day.
Ruffin isn't singing they attached the new lead singer to the video. What we just heard is not the original.
@@denniscerasoli6209 I think this is from the movie I think the guy singing is Louis price. His voice was used in the movie for David ruffins part. Just checked this out online. Clearly that that is not David voice or the temptations on background vocals
@@supersonicsoulsupreme1414 Thank you pointing this out. Although it sounded pretty good, something sounded "off".
Definitely not David nor the Classic 5
Can't go wrong with the Temptations
David Ruffin and Eddie Kendrick had solo careers as well. They both did very well. Please react to these 2 amazing singers.
You're right they were both great but both had very tragic ends.
David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks are Legendary Vocalists
That Motown sound! There is no better feel good music on the planet! The Temptations were one of many who gave us just the BEST music ever!
One of my favourite songs/groups ever. Glad for any excuse to watch this video.
You've reached the mountain top! And sitting up there is the Temptations!
Huge hit makers and still performing.
This is some of the music of my girlhood. How many times did I walk home from school singing "My Girl" to myself? I loved Motown and when I think of Soul in the 60s, right away I think, "Temptations, Four Tops, O'Jays." Many other greats, of course, like Smokey Robinson and the Miracles! SO much great music. Also, back then "Top 40" and Soul radio stations didn't just play what was current. They played the "oldies," so these songs were on the radio for years, happily!
1965 is when the original song came out.
I know we just missed Christmas but their version of Silent Night is incredible. Better late than later, maybe?
Yessss
It's not OFFICIALLY Christmas until this, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and Jackson's (not necessarily in this order) are played.
Silent Night is on my playlist for any day of the year!
Oh my God!! I love that version by The Temptations but none of these guys that do these video reaction played it??
The Genius of the LEGENDARY Iconic Mr William Smokey Robinson
The Temptations were a huge part of my growing up!! I can still see my mom dancing around the kitchen blasting Motown!!
Freakin fantastic!!!!
Big hit from 1965. I love the Temptations. I love all their music. I had the privilege of talking to Dennis Edwards many years ago. Actually, I ran into him twice. He lived in my area at the time and went to the same Doctor as me. I got to talk to him in the waiting room. Really nice guy.
I love the Temptations. My girl one of there biggest hit.
This is the original line up. I love this song and David Ruffin was my favorite Temptation! This song was released in 1965, before I was born but I love this music! This was my parents music and was always playing in the house when I was a kid!❤❤
Yes you got to play/react to one of the best songs of all time. Recorded in 1964 and became #1 in 1965.
This came out in 1964 when I was only 3 years old. I've loved this song forever!
From Motown’s greatest group’s, 1964 “ The Temptation’s! “ I met my now husband this year, he was 17 & I was 15. The 60’s music takes me back to those wonderful year’s!👍🥰🌺♥️🌹🌹
Wonderful, excellent, vintage Motown!
Best lineup they ever had . David and Eddie were also incredible together. . Great reaction.

Finally y’all are reacting to REAL music Black classic soul. The Temptations can be considered greatest group of all time. Them and NE have the most talent in a group in history. Y’all have heard Dennis Papa Was A Rollin Stone, David with My Girl, haven’t even heard incredible Eddie Kendricks, etc.

Smooth, Styling and Profiling.
Love this song...Temptations had it all, these guys are first class all the way,yes..those dance moves, awesome ❤
David Ruffin was my father's IDOL. People used to give him crap because he was a Puerto Rican listening to Motown. The Temptations were his all time favorite musical at.
Hello our gracious hosts THE TEMPS WERE ASTONISHING ✌️❤️
Love the temptations and (David Ruffin )< (the the lead singer of this song at the time) is so smooth! His (David Ruffin's Voice, wow!!)I loved all their moves, in sync too! ) Another good temps song, can you two play is "My whole word ended"(The moment you left me) thank you!! Lead singer is David Ruffin.
Gosh they were great...this is the best, and original line up!
My Girl: The Temptations' Hit Song Was Released on December 21, 1964
Lead: Davis Eli "David" Ruffin
Loved the song and your reaction .
The greatest song ever recorded.
David Ruffin had a beautiful voice...."" Walk away from love "" shows his amazing range....👏👏👏❤❤❤
Never be bettered , utter class
Please react to the original studio version of this song. If you thought this cover version was a 10 be prepared to have to your mind blown when you listen to the real deal!
I know....right???
Exactly!
This is NOT the original.
Angie Hilton Is My Girl Because She Is My Most Beautiful Girl That I Have Ever Dreamed In My Life
The Temptations awesomeness!
This song made a girl feel special...cherished. Can we find that today? I miss those days. Classic, for sure.
Can anyone even imagine! a song like this being written today ? I sincerely hope there are people under the age of 30 listening to your reactions ~ Thank you again ~ for reacting to and bringing some great music into peoples lives who wouldn't normally hear it.
One of the Temptations David Ruffin is the brother of Jimmy Ruffin.
This was the originals. Back when TV was still black and white. My Grandson was looking over my shoulder and asked me if I was alive then. So sweet. Because yes I was. I think it was about 62ish?
Yes the great 👍 Tempts back in Day
Memories of my early childhood--my mom and dad. I want to cry. These dudes are so smooth.
The Temptations Incredible, awesome, great. great reaction.thank you.
"Ain't too proud to beg" is a also a great one
So great, a true classic. 👍👍👍
David Ruffin. What else needs to be said. Earlier era Temps than "Papa...". That choreography. Sharp indeed!!
Now listen to:
"Sunshine, blue skies please go away,
My girl's found another and gone away.
With her went my future. My life is filled with gloom,
So day after day I stay locked up in my room.
I know to you, it might sound strange.
I just wish it would rain."
Sorry, I hope I didn't sing off key there. 😁 The song is I Wish It Would Rain. 😉
One of favorite groups from that era!
Back in the day the Temptations’ choreography was called “The Temptation Walk”. Miss that time.
One of my all time favorite songs
David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Otis Williams, Paul Williams and Melvin Franklin
I remember when this song came out. It stayed at the top of the charts FOREVER.
I'm always astonished when people say that they've never heard of certain Superstars & Iconic groups. Where have you all been?
The great thing is, you know them now. And are helping keep this wonderful music alive. 🎶
That little step they do in place is called the "Temptation Walk".
This is their classic lineup
The Tempts (and these were the originals) were called 'the group with five lead singers' cos they were all fantastic
The song you need to hear from The Temptations is I Wish It Would Rain with David Ruffin on lead. Live version is great.
Love this song , I remember going around the playground with my friends singing this song in the 2nd grade -- ♥️
It may be hard to find but there's an a cappella version of this song.
When I was in high school we called this dance "The Tip" where there rock from one leg to the other, lol.
Anytime I hear this song I want to cry. Watching "The Temptations", and documentaries, of these men make you love them and cry for their loss.
Beautiful song.
50s 60s = THE BEST MUSIC.
Nothing is better than some great Motown
I wish ya'll could have been born back in that time era..Dancing and music was the best..
“Baby It’s You”...by the Shirelles...
My high school sweetheart and I reunited after about 43 years...and he still had “our song”...❤️
You can go wrong with the Temptations. Please react to I Wish It Would Rain.
The guitar riff was created by Motown guitarist Robert White and he came up with it right on the spot.
❤️❤️❤️The Temptations!
This is David Ruffins' 2nd best vocals, the #1 being Ain't Too Proud To Beg, IMHO. My Girl was the first song I heard of the Temptations when it came out that made me fall in love with their sound. It has always been one of my favorites and to this day cannot sit still when I hear it. I must sing along and move to it.
Temptations are so good!
It was called the Temptation walk. Eddie Kendricks had a later solo hit called Keep on Truckin'.
The Temptations have many hits great hits like my girl the song that tells the story of many men and it's my favorite song I hope you get a chance to review it it's called Papa Was a Rolling Stone. I guarantee you if you review that song you'll absolutely love the story that song tells because it's so true with so many men growing up.
