@@Top_Loaded_JRGS77 ohh true, I can buy raw copies low, grade them, and watch them rise. Another very underrated card imo is Gardenia's Vigor #GG61. Only $6 for a gorgeous trainer that could easily pass as an SIR today. It's part of the set crown zenith which is showing noticeable market growth. Fun fact, its made by the same illustrator of the Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur chase cards from the 151 set! :D
Just subbed, this was a really cool video, obviously certain collectors are gonna like some cards over others, but I like how you give your perspective on the market and like you said people buying into the hype
Very interesting video. I think it's definitely sound advice and a good recommendation to not forget about older cards that are just as solid and in the same price range. However, I think some of these are worth the purchase even at these prices. For example, I recently bought the Milotic SIR. Even if it does go down at most, I can only see it going down to around $100. I think it is worth the risk on some of these if you really like the card or that particular Pokémon. The potential loss on some of these is way more reasonable imo than waiting to see if it goes down and potentially having to pay double the price you could have paid if you had just bought it initially at a lower value. I think back every now and then about when I had the chance to buy the Giritina Alt Art for $160 and now look at the price. I did eventually buy the Giritina for much cheaper than it is now but man I wish I had got it a year ago back when it was under $200.
I definitely agree. In the long run all these cards will all be worth more then they are now. That Milotic is probably the most stunning card in the set. I have grabbed cards that have gone down but then rebounded to higher values and never looked back. This hobby is so fun!!!!
@@Top_Loaded_JRGS77 Definitely enjoying the hobby as well. Forgot to mention in my original comment definitely keep up the good work on the videos. This was very well structured the editing was good and had great information. Will definitely be checking in on your channel frequently. Happy hunting and collecting my friend and happy holidays :)
You’re not missing out on anything if you buy at your own pace & collect what you like. Saving up for that one card/ETB/booster etc.. only makes the hobby that much more enjoyable.
I like some of your takes here for sure! I will say, after seeing a lot of the Surging Sparks cards in person, I disagree with your take on the Alolan Exeggutor. That card is BEAUTIFUL. I think it's one of if not the best looking card in the entire set and could be a top 3 chase long term. Otherwise I agree with a lot of what you said! All the best!
I like that card too and check out the Japanese version, looks even better. Texture is so crazy on it. My son like the card so much I will buy the Japanese just to have them next to each other in his binder. It is going down in price now but not sure if it will go back down to $50 where we picked it up at.
Great video and really puts stuff in perspective ! To me there’s tiers of chase cards. Gym leaders are the best card in a given set, like lugia v, charizard v. Elite 4 are the best of an era like gengar vmax, giratina, rayquaza vmax. Champion is the moonbreon. For scarlet and violet, pikachu and bubble mew are the only elite 4 card I can see. Greninja seems like just a gym leader, in a mid tier set like lugia v. Still seems like it’s about 100 dollars overpriced.
good vid! I was lucky to pull the gold pika from the SS ETB the other day, and prob would not pay over $100 for the card. Otherwise, these are solid alternatives.
Only 2 of those cards that you named will probably go up massively in value compared to the ones you mentioned in also don't buy to collect and put in a binder i buy pokemon as an investment and they have to be graded cards
i like the idea of this vid in that everyone becomes so focused on the latest shiny objects that they forgot about the old shiny objects 😂. you got that old dude mentality like me though - my kids respect my vintage cards but theyd rather have a moonbreon than a 1st ed zard 😂
Great video, but I love that bubble mew I don’t know what it is, I couldn’t pick up the English so I picked up a Japanese instead. It was way cheaper. I don’t know but that special illustration rare is way over hyped IMO to high
No screaming no HIII FAN CLANNN no punches pulled just numbers opionions and a calm voice. I like this format
my plan right now is to pick up a bunch of clean Scizor #205 illustration rares for ~$7 a pop, grade them, and sell the PSA 10's for $130 a piece.
I like that plan but if you hold that card for a bit it should see big gains. Its so underrated.

I follow many poketubers and this was a brilliant idea and much more interesting than any other vid the last few months, kudos, just subbed!
@@natem9535 thank you for the sub and glad you liked the content. Definitely have plans to do more similar in the future

I like your analysis there. Bubble Mew is going to be so iconic. Insane little card.
Cool video!! Only one I’d disagree with is bubble mew, I still see room for growth. U earned a sub 👊🏻
this for sure will continue to grow. Its an era card like the moonbreon.
Rayquaza V MAX is the most exquisite card of all and the CHarizard Sun is the next amazing cards

Gengar VMAX has started climbing as Fusion has finally sold out on Pokemon Centre worldwide.
Yes I need to pick it up soon before its way out of reach.
Look at the freakin moonbreon
Yeah that guy is on a whole nother planet from any other cards.
i call that butt pikachu lmao, but good vid man!
I call it Twerkachu. I have heard Cheekachu and my son calls it A$$ Rat LOL
As long as you don't say "LETS GO " I will continue to watch .I don't do hype anymore
I will definitely try to keep my calm demeanor but if a card excites me no promises LOL
I love all the art work that you mentioned, but I'll that Pikachu from SS over all of them.
Its a great card and will go down as a classic. I see why you would 💯

The Latias and Latios will be worth bank
Greninja shouldn't have been surprising if you understand Pokemon. It is the most popular modern Pokemon there is and will continue to go up lol
@@luckyretrotwist it definitely bucked the trends and yes my son told me Greninja was voted one of the if not the most popular character currently
