      By installing the latest firmware (available at the NUX homepage at the bottom of their MG-300 section) your device will be reseted. Be aware, that you will lose all your patches if you don't export (save) them before and you will also have to recalibrate your EXP (pedal) again.

    Hallo Helmut, im vergleich finde ich den MG 300 wärmer im Sound als den MG 30. Hat den MG 30 vielleicht doch mehr zu bieten? Gerade dieser Marshall klang deutlich angenehmer im Sound! Wie siehst Du das? Du hast beide im direkten vergleich!

    • @helmutshatner
      @helmutshatner  2 года назад

      Ja, das MG300 klingt wirklich auf Anhieb ohne jegliche Soundbastelei richtig gut.
      Mit lediglich zwei Fußschaltern ist es aber leider für Gigs so ziemlich unbrauchbar.
      Das MG30 klingt auch gut, verlangt aber etwas Tüftelei bei den Einstellungen. Mit dem mitgelieferten NMP2 Fußschalter kann man es bei Auftritten ganz vernünftig verwenden.

    Great playing and some nice tones. I have Zoom G1Xon. Noting terribly wrong with it but just bored and want a change. Considering this and Mooer GE150. Seeing the demos I am more and more inclining towards NUX MG300. So some questions if you can answer please. Can the facory patches overwritten? If not can they be renamed and reshuffled? How many user slots? One more questions unrelated to NUX. I've lately developed a fascination to play without pick. I really like your style and control. Do you use flesh or nails and if latter, how long? Are you equally comfortable with a pick? Thanks.

    • @helmutshatner
      @helmutshatner  4 года назад +1

      I am pretty new to the MG-300, but there´s an interesting group on Facebook about it with lots of tips and tricks: NUX MG-300 GROUP Discussion and Patch/IR Sharing
      If I am not wrong, there are 36 User Patches that can be overwritten, renamed, reshuffled, but also 36 Factory Presets that can´t be changed. It includes a free Quick Tone Editor Software, which is extremely easy to use - even for an old "analog guy" like me.
      Regarding my playing style: it some kind of developed from using a pick only (I was never really satisfied with my speed picking and sweep picking technique but quite okay when playing "funky rhythm guitar" ) to hybrid picking which I used most of the time. But then finally I started playing more and more without a pick and loved the IMHO a) extended ranged of dynamics it gives you and b) easier way to play string skipping licks. I am using flesh and not the nails. Cheers and please don´t forget to subscribe for further updates!

    When you look at the effect pedals in the Nux mg300, such as the modulation pedal, time-based pedal, overdrive or distortion effect pedal, it seems almost the same as the pedal in the Nux mg100 but the advantage of the Nux mg300 is that there is an additional USB connection for downloading sounds. for free, in my opinion, the multi-effects nux sound very good and almost similar to the original effects pedal

    Great overview of the presets! I just bought one of these and before even playing through it I updated firmware to 2.01.01. When I finally played through the MG-300, it seemed like many/most presets had huge amounts of delay and the noise gate (for presets that used it) was set so high that my softer notes never even registered. Did you have a similar impression when playing the presets? I'm wondering if I got a defective unit or some global setting got screwed up.

    • @helmutshatner
      @helmutshatner  3 года назад +1

      @@accentontheoff More or less. I assume the factory wanted to show off how many different sounds the unit is capable of, so I just don't use most of the presets. Many are just too extreme for me. When I set up my own presets, my motto is: "a little goes a long way." I still very much appreciate the MG300 for its amp models, IR capabilities and effects -- it has made me want to play like never before. I know there are better, more expensive modelers out there, but for my purposes (getting back into guitar after about a 25-year hiatus), this little unit has served me well. Thanks for following up!

    Hi Helmut. Thanks for your preset demo. I can't help but feel a hint of delay in most presets. What's your verdict on this unit? I've ordered mine but can still change it to a cerebus instead :)

    • @helmutshatner
      @helmutshatner  4 года назад +2

      Hi and thank you. Yes, you are right about the delay. But that happened more or less accidentally, as i forgot to mute the audio from the camera mic. So, what we hear in the video is the direct audio signal via the output jack of the MG-300, but also a bit of the room sound (studio monitors) from the camera mic :-(
      The NUX MG-300 costs about 130 EUR and offers a huge variety of sounds, endless and easy options to edit them (see my latest video about the clean sound editing) and works fine as an audio-interface via USB. I haven't checked it in front of an amp yet. But as a standalone unit for recording or straight into PA it's absolutely fine!!!
      P.S. I used to have a Cerebus. It's quite a chunky piece of gear, but offers way more options for live situations because of it's footswitches and connections (i.e. 4 cable method). It's sounds though seem more to fit with an amp than for direct recording (or PA).
