One of the most amazing actresses I've ever seen. Can portray more emotion which is facial expressions that any modern actor. So many actors in today could learn from the way she just expressed herself physically and emotionally without the benefit of having talking pictures.
Delightful. I cannot believe how well they did for a movie made in 1919. They have taken this outstanding story, and added a comic twist, which made it so a very unique creation.
I enjoyed Mary Pickford's movie Pollyanna very much. She was there when the silent movie industry first started. Her natural way of acting helped to revolutionize the way films were made. At such a young age to form United Artists Movie Company. A very smart business lady on and off camera. Yes along with Charlie Chaplin, D. W. Griffith and Douglas Fairbanks, they formed United Artists.
I live nearby Littleton NH where Eleanor Hodgman Porter was born. There is a bronze statue dedicated to Pollyanna. Thanks for this movie with Mary Pickford now I know more about our hometown historian!
@@ljmcdonald2703 5' 1" edit: when she played a waif they used tall actors and bound her chest as she was full figured woman. when she played a grown woman they used shorter actors
33:47 that baby is not credited but it absolutely has to be jackie condon from the little rascals!! so easy to recognise, a face with character and hair with a mind of its own. he’ll start a career of his own about two years after this.
it's disturbing to see how they made a 27 year old look like a 12 year old! and they made bigger furniture and chose giant actors too? still not convincing cuz body proportions of kids are totally different,,,big head flat chest etc
Looking back, by 1926'ish, she should had gone a Miley Cyrus route. Bleach her hair and become a vixen blonde. She could had lasted another 2 decades thus.

I can say the same of Valentino with the way his beautiful face expressed deep emotions.
the indisputable first lady of filmdom 🎥 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love that music. I was bopping to it the whole time.
THEY DID VERY VERSIONS OF POLLYANNA , AND REALLY IS FANTASTIC

I was happy to know that Rudy Valentino was signed to United Artists. Unfortunately, the Dark Lover died some time after that.
Yes. And later Rudolph Valentino signed on right before his tragic death.

I knew I would like this movie after finishing the book. Mary Pickford usually does good in any movie I see her in.
I was not expecting to cry so much at this movie 😭
i did not know there was a movie
I don't know this First movie about Pollyanna,thank you!❤️
"Pollyanna" is a classic title book - especially for children-.
the scene at the end with her and the little boy when he runs off and has that huge grin is just too cute
Marié Pickford était vraiment amusante et charmante
Quem está assistindo em pleno ano de 2020 deixe um like, por favor.
MP was born in 1892. She doesn't look 27 yrs old.
Thank you for posting.
IT'S ALL THAT GOOD RICH LIVING ??
@@joesmyth3208 It's all her singularly great screen acting.
She was petite about 4’10
she was 34 in Sparrows, still playing the young waif very well indeed.

Love this story !!
Keisha Knight-Pulliam of the Cosby Show did a version of "Pollyanna."
It's crazy she was 27 and still playing little girls.
she definitely has a baby face
At 33 she still played them, as in Little Annie Rooney (1925).
@@JudgeJulieLitor Sparrows, aged 34, 1926 and one of her all time best films. cheers 🥂
Yes. She always looked like a little girl in her films. Always played the little girl. I adore her, but that was a little strange.
Mary was a true devout traditional Catholic that came through in her acting!
i really enjoyed thismovie!!
Thank you:-)
One correction is that the film is credited as being produced in 1920.
According to google yes jan 1920
Peliculón, genial para ver fumado. Gracias.

I noticed mary pickford cried alot in her films not complaining just saying
In others, like Little Annie Rooney (1925), she was a mischievous urchin who laughed and pranked a lot.
@@JudgeJulieLitand Fanchon The Cricket!
try poor little rich girl, or dozens of others of her films
Things have changed :)
