It's the only modeller I know that can be plugged into an Amp and reshape the amp and cab to sound like a different amp in cab. In the room. Others just make it sound like a Mic'd amp playing through another amp. But I was able to use my GT 1000 to make my Fender Deluxe sound like My Vox AC15 and vice versa in the room. I just wish these kind of demos had it simple and more to the point. Like, "Hey, this is how this unit does the Les Paul on a Marshall tone, this is how it does a Strat through a Fender tone, this is how it does the Gretch Hollowbody through a Vox (and a delay effect) tones, and this is how it does the Mesa Boogie/Diezel etc heavy tones through an Explorer/Flying V. Maybe we don't need so much noodling of the same blues licks through a Strat, cycling through mostly wet effects. Don't get me wrong, I love Pete's style and he is one talented cat. But a demo like this would be better IMHO with a guitarist like Rabea sitting with Pete and the Captain, to show the rest of the tones this unit can provide, in other genres of music. A bit of shredding and a bit of chugs would be nice. But it probably is very difficult, due to the Corona virus restrictions, is my guess. Anyway, I wish to Captain, to Pete and everyone here a happy new year!

Sound great but a misrepresentation These blocks on GT-1000… is only one reverb … can’t add more.. 4 blocks wasted on simple delays they gave to be there . Who needs that? 4 have to be EQs. 2 have to be noise gates. 2 have to be Amps.
No only one delay block has all the choices. There’s only one reverb block. 4 other blocks have to be simple delays. 4 blocks gave to be EQs. And two have to be noise gates… 2 have to be amp sims - so way less flexible than suggested. Also it’s micro usb which often doesn’t work as it can’t be a cable with charging capacity - only data. Shocking lack of updates and NO it doesn’t have all the RV500 nor does it have all the DD500. No where near. But it does sound fabulous, runs off batteries, less amp requirements that competitors. Has clear simple screen.
I replaced my Strymon Iridium with the GT-1000CORE, which was a mistake. The Boss stuff has loads of options and if you spend lots of time it really sounds amazing. But man, it's endlessly uninspiring to fiddle around in thousands of options in the menus. I caught myself spending hours of turning knobs for options that the real amps (marshall plexi for example) don't even have. For example: The GT1000 offers a gain switch option (low, medium high), which a normal plexi doesn't have. So what do I change when I flip that knob?
I have the larger GT-1000 and find it pretty easy to quickly get an inspiring tone if you purposely limit yourself. Just "initialize" patch so everything is off except amp and basic reverb. Select an amp model and adjust gain to taste. Even with everything dead center, things sound pretty good already and the whole process only takes a.minute or so. It just takes a bit of mental fortitude to limit yourself vs something like a Strymon Iridium that is already limited hardware-wise.
The difference is very much a feel thing. at my local store, we are privilege enough to have Helix + headphones to test out the guitars. But I don't feel quite inspired by the helix stomp and the interface-onboard is not quite friendly to my use. But I have got my GT1000 core in black Friday sales at Andertons and it feels much better, closer to a real amp (**closer, not the same**). It is more dynamic and more reactive to me. I prefer the classic Boss tone too. But it is really subjective and if there's a chance, try either one of them. :)
I have a GT-1 does anyone know if the amp models and tech behind them are the same? Boss if you read this please update your high gain sounds they're very fizzy on all the models. Otherwise the GT-1 is a very nice unit.
Im now really torn between this and the stomp :( upgrading from the podhd500. I've tried the helix native trial but I can't hear any difference between helix and of my pod's effects.
I know that unit ! Same one at home ! It can sound a lot more warm if you do some Right setups. I dont know how those guys are setting their outpout but they are showing some bad cold noise. it's a shame. Even presets are usualy better than this
I like boss pedals, I have an SD-1 and a DD-7 as mainstays on my pedal board. I also like digital modelers, I have a pod hd500x and an old Fender Mustang v2. But it really seems to me that Boss have been left in the dust by their competitors when it comes to digital modelling. Lee's face at 3:35 says a lot lol
I've looked through the manual online and cannot find the answer to my question, so maybe what I'm asking here is not possible. However, I thought I would ask here for anyone that knows the unit well enough to know for sure. I'd like to program one button/switch to activate 2 events at once. The events would be 1) amp channel switch and 2) patch change. Basically all I want to do is switch from a rhythm tone patch to a lead tone patch and have my amp also switch channels when going back and forth. I'm guessing IF this is possible, it would need to be done using 'MEMORY Mode'. Patch +1 (up) would also need to trigger the Amp Control channel switch function, OR could the patch itself execute this when it loads? I'm trying to switch my amp channel AND (Up) +1 User Patch with only ONE action. Then, the same when executing (Down) -1 User Patch with an Amp Channel switch. Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.
Yes that's possible. There is a main assigns for each footswitch (the three on the unit, or you can connect 4 more switch's (like on two fs-7s for example). As well as the main assign, you can assign up to 16 additional functions - so one footswitch press could carry out 17 functions. This can be things like patch changes, loading effects on and off, midi commands, loops 1 and 2, and amp switching etc. It's very versatile!
@@devolution000 awesome! thanks. i've been successful in setting it up how i want it now. the key is using the boss tone studio software. makes it so much easier to dial in. thanks again. it worked!

It still has that Boss GT-3 from the 90's tone to it. Hard to conceive how a company such as Boss cannot improve the tone of their units to the likes of L6 or Fractal.
I've always been a fan of this sort of unit after I'd seen a couple of pit band guitarists using them in theatres. For that sort of app I get it. But - if I wanted a multi-effects board I'd go for the ME-80 which Andertons are doing for £199 right now. Whereas this Core is like £600!? I just use a Maxon EQ, Xotic RC Boost and BB Overdrive, and a Maxon Analogue Delay. So, if you want to appeal to me, Boss, you need to make it clear what I'm missing and what I could do if I changed. I guess it's patches? Oh - and why it's 3x the price of an ME-80. Sorry to be so down - but that's what I'm thinking. Anybody? Thoughts?

Yikes. £599 for something with a minuscule display harking back 20 years, containing a whole array of sounds you'd never use - each one of them sounding horribly digital.

Think the song with the descending riff Pete was hearing was Aneurysm by Nirvana.
I think Pete's about the get the hang of that guitar-playing thing.
I think the song the Pete could not remember at the start is "Send my love to Linda" by Jimi Hendrix.
What brand is this pedalboard? This is exactly what I'm looking for!
Looks like a blue Boss BCB-1000
No only one delay block has all the choices. There’s only one reverb block. 4 other blocks have to be simple delays. 4 blocks gave to be EQs. And two have to be noise gates… 2 have to be amp sims - so way less flexible than suggested. Also it’s micro usb which often doesn’t work as it can’t be a cable with charging capacity - only data. Shocking lack of updates and NO it doesn’t have all the RV500 nor does it have all the DD500. No where near. But it does sound fabulous, runs off batteries, less amp requirements that competitors. Has clear simple screen.
Great vid. What is that awesome blue pedalboard? Where can I get one like it? Best :)
I own a gt1000 and its peerfect for little gigs and recordingvstuff 🤘🤘
Sounds good.
Does the Gt 1000 Core has an Aux in for playin using headphones over backing tracks?
Jimi Hendrix’s latest post-Morten album “Both Sides of the Sky : ‘Give My Love to Linda’ “
The record label be like: We’ve found audio of Jimi sneezing, quick release it!
Get your iridium back. That is a great sounding and feeling product
I'm listening to it on a great sound system and some of them sound like a transistor radio
Please make sure to support Simon with his new amp he's making!!!! Just do it...It is gonna be aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAWESOME!!!!! The Regent
Can you use the gt-1000core with a tablet connected with a cable?
This one's for you Johnny marr
DP wearing his Canadian Tuxedo :D
Watch out if Boss ever makes a guitar!!
I guess they kind of did try that a few years ago, pretty cool stuff ! ruclips.net/video/GozcAsSWJic/видео.html
Will you be reviewing/demoing the new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson 335s?
The Captain and Pete being hilarious as ever. Got to admit, I think the product sounds shite, but I'm still watching for the laughs.
Any chance you can use positions 2 and 4 more when you demo with a Strat please?
Doesn't the SY1000 have the same processor ?
Got one Love it !
Competes with the HX Stomp? Comparison if that’s the case?
Literally after writing this Lee answers the question. Thanks, Cap, now this was completely redundant. 😂
Are these stand presets. If not where do you get the patches from?
Im now really torn between this and the stomp :( upgrading from the podhd500. I've tried the helix native trial but I can't hear any difference between helix and of my pod's effects.
opt with the Stomp. Couldn't be more happier, I just wish I should've have went all in and bought LT.
I'm not a tube snob at all but ... boy that sounds digital.
I know that unit ! Same one at home ! It can sound a lot more warm if you do some Right setups. I dont know how those guys are setting their outpout but they are showing some bad cold noise. it's a shame.
Even presets are usualy better than this
Contradiction at it's finest.
@@toileetre9250 what is cold noise?
@@stk7778 digital and agressive
I think yall deaf it sounds great to me
GT-1 much simple, and it's for beginners too..
Hopefully the presets here are a tad better than the full version which are a bit off.
Gt1000 Core and gt 1000 ....bass , lead , and violin 's....acoustic guitar 's too.feels.strong 's ...
Puddle of mudd "she fuckin hates me". I think that was the song Pete was trying to figure out what that chord went to.
Omg, the sound is so....🥺
so what ? good? crap?
Pure 32bit everything can't be beat. Like the OD-200 only a lot more.
Whats the pedal board model that all the pedals and the core 1000 sit ?
Awesome
I like boss pedals, I have an SD-1 and a DD-7 as mainstays on my pedal board. I also like digital modelers, I have a pod hd500x and an old Fender Mustang v2. But it really seems to me that Boss have been left in the dust by their competitors when it comes to digital modelling. Lee's face at 3:35 says a lot lol
You’re marking the moment when he brings in the DS-1 which is in the effects loop.
Maybe not the shade you think it is?
It is miles better than this shabby demo sounds.
Got one. Awesome. My go to location amp.
Hey buddy, what song is this?
Anyways this patch is cool
@@devolution000 awesome! thanks. i've been successful in setting it up how i want it now. the key is using the boss tone studio software. makes it so much easier to dial in. thanks again. it worked!
Boss make some great pedals. Their all-in-ones are dreadful, and I've owned a few. This is the best of them that I've heard but for 600 quid you could build yourself a great pedalboard, get the Mooer equivalent, a BluGuitar Amp 1/Iridium. Not convinced at all, sorry chaps!
There is no way you could get this much functionality for 600. The blue guitar alone would set you back at least that much.
1:30 patches from ???
Looks cool but going to seriously struggle to compete with the Helix Stomp at that price.
The HX stomp has a lot less power and the sounds aren’t as good, esp. when compared to the advanced amps
Also, the routing options and Boss’s reliability
the hotone ampero and pod go sound better as far as i can judge from youtube videos
I’m skeptical of this channel since they promoted the tone master. 2/3 the price of the real thing and the used market is flooded with them
It still has that Boss GT-3 from the 90's tone to it. Hard to conceive how a company such as Boss cannot improve the tone of their units to the likes of L6 or Fractal.
...BOSStastic...!!!
Love your channel but this review barely covered the options on this pedal.
@4:36
Just realized they used the Jay Leonard Jay patches. Also: this thing is damn good!
Does the GT-1000CORE come with pete to play it ? xD
Anybody? Thoughts?
Just that it sounds bad. I’ve seen a few pros use them but as they become more famous they ditch them.
Bacana! Gostei 👍 ... Vou comprar uma 🤭🤣🤣🤣
Nice compact pedal, the delays are good. The overdrives are more like dogfarts
Hi
What model is the guitar?
If I had to hazard a guess I’d say fender American pro II
With the relicing on the top, I'm thinking it's the new Fender Road Worn strats.
@@pgl9472 you’re right. It’s £999. It’s a great looking guitar. Not a bad price. Probably $1200? Maybe in the USA.
@@kcussrebutuemos4815 Yeah they're great! Played one not too long ago in store. Where I am they're about $1599 Canadian. High price for a MIX in my opinion but they do play nice.
@@pgl9472 yea I know Canadian prices are really high. You should see Australian prices. Thru the roof. Can I ask was the neck slim or chunky or medium? I know Pete helped develop this I am pretty sure because it’s the limited one that only Chicago music exchange has. They’re all out. But he typically specs out chunky necks. This looks just as nice as a custom shop strat tbh. I didn’t realize it’s MIM either.
Great demo but priced way too high. £200 more than a Helix Stomp? Yes, it's more powerful but I think most guitarists wouldn't use the power. They will just look at Helix vs. Boss GT users and follow the musicians they admire.
Was Pete thinking of Just by Radiohead?
Yikes. £599 for something with a minuscule display harking back 20 years, containing a whole array of sounds you'd never use - each one of them sounding horribly digital.
You're demoing an effects modeller that takes the place of pedals but you've got it loaded up with pedals. My head hurts.
I would probably just use analog drives/wahs and use a modeler for the rest of the effects as these multi-fx units never seem to do od/distortion very well. So, it does make sense that you might want to use pedals as well as one of these, although I probably wouldn't choose this particular unit.
"I like that reverse thing"
"I know you do..."
It's got delay!
