I am in the upper 40s. Started playing tennis and it took a toll on my knees. Went to the doctor and he prescribed diclofenac. Taking four pills (1500mg each) of turmeric had better results for me than 75mg of diclofenac twice daily. I could tell my digestive system was not the same with diclofenac. Turmeric is a very powerful anti-inflammatory. It works very well for me. I have been symptom free for over eight months now.

Turmeric for me is a life saver in my early 50's five years ago I had what I thought was a severe case of stiff neck. It turns out I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my neck as well as two degenerative disk's. I was told to go to therapy and if that did not work take large doses of ibuprofen for the rest of my life. Well I looked up what I can take naturally and turmeric can up in almost every search. So I went to Costco and bought the Brand Youtheory and almost immediately the pain subsided not a little but 100%. Now my diagnosis has not changed medically but I can tell any on this site that I am 100 % pain free for the five years since my diagnosis. Praise God for giving man the wisdom to produce holistic forms of plants and their roots to heal our bodies of this horrific pain of arthritis.

Your information on turmeric seems correct. What makes it work better is the addition of ginger (fresh if you have it), black pepper helps to absorb the turmeric, garlic, and put it all in bone broth for a morning drink. I also add other stuff to make it more soup-like. This concoction makes my aches and pains minimal. (I am 69 years old and a triathlete by history).

I have psoriatic arthritis for the last 15 years, and have been taking tumeric everyday for about 10 years. Definately helps a lot with the pain side of things, first 3-4 years i was on naproxen for the pain, i could barely walk down stairs in the morning. Now on no painkillers of any kind. I feel like it's a long haul kind of thing, also have tried the more expensive curcumin varients which i found made no difference to just taking plain old tumeric. I would say tho that it is very important to take tumeric with some fat as it helps the body absorb better, even just a bit of toast with butter. 1000mg a day in caps form and 1tsp powdered form in my chick curry twice a week does the trick for me. General tips for arthritis:- Avoid processed foods, if you can't cook then learn, can be fun btw :). Stay active even if it is sore to move, i work in construction(heavy work) and i am in in more pain on my days off. Stay positive, B vitamin complex will help with this. Singapore style noodles you say, i'll have to give em a try ;)

I’m glad to hear this. I’ve been suffering from pretty advanced osteoarthritis for more than a decade, with particularly bad pain in my lower spine, my shoulders, and my hips. A couple of years ago, someone told me to take turmeric capsules daily to deal with the pain. For about six months, I took the recommended amount every day. I didn’t notice any effect at all on my joint pain. No reduction in pain whatsoever. No increase in the amount of time I could stand and walk. I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t working for me. It won't make your joints better, but it will help inflammation and pain.
I was told about ginger by my gastroenterologist, and later found out combined with turmeric it helped with my chronic pain and inflammation significantly. I was skeptical it truly helped, but have had where I didn't take it for a day or 4 and found I was in a LOT of pain, reminiscent of prior painful days. It doesn't get rid of all of it, but it does take a chronic level 6-8 in pain down to 3-5, which is significant if you live with it daily.

It worked well for muscle pain. Start by taking 1/4 ts , graduate to 1 tbs. 1-3 X per day. Note: the curcumin can cause diarrhea . It takes a while to work. I don’t care to take medicines. For Turmeric to be effective you must use fresh ground pepper. Also, there are varieties of Turmeric - and using FRESH ground or cut turmeric vs processed powder you also have a largely varied reaction. Cinnamon is much the same - you have to have the right family of turmeric with the other components to activate the anti-inflammatory reactions.

    1 tsp cracked black pepper
    1 tsp crushed cardamom
    1 tsp cloves
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp ginger
    1 tsp honey
    1/2 cup coconut oil
Simmer water with all spices except pepper for two minutes. Then add coconut oil and pepper and simmer for two minutes. Remove from heat and add honey. Put it in the fridge. Add to hot milk or water if you prefer to taste. A teaspoon or so per cup. It is quite nice. Kind of like a Chai tea. I used to drink it in the evening. The only thing he was very specific about was the spices should be organic.
Hope someone gets relief with it.

Thanks, guys for another great video. I am 57 and was diagnosed by a rheumatologist with mild psoriatic arthritis several years ago. It affects only a few joints in my right hand and right foot and ankle. I was taking about 400mg of ibuprofen 4-times daily and that seemed to be doing an okay job to minimize the pain. But I didn't like taking that much ibuprofen. After consulting with my GP and the Pharmacist, I decided to switch out the middle two ibuprofen doses with 2,250 mg of Turmeric Curcumin which is 500 mg of curcumin. I feel that the pain management has been about the same as it was with the ibuprofen alone. I noticed when I temporarily stopped taking pain relievers before my COVID vaccination, the pain increased quite a bit and it made walking difficult. I have also tried reducing the dosages to find what minimum works for me and it seems that when I reduce the from what I indicated above my pain increases. So, for me, it seems to be helpful.

SPR, the reason Curcumin helped your arthritis is because it's a chelator of free copper. Many people are born with partial defects in the ATP7B copper binding gene, which causes toxic free or unbound copper to accumulate in the body. The joints are one of the secondary copper storage areas. If the body is storing copper bound to ceruloplasmin, then it's non toxic, but when it starts storing the unbound copper is when you have problems. The free copper test code at the lab corp I use in Oklahoma is 279071. The test # in your state might differ, but the test is called "direct measuremnt of free copper". If your free copper is high zinc or TM can be used to lower it. TM is short for ammonium tetrathiomolybdate. TM can bring copper to a non toxic state in 2 weeks and decopper you in 8 weeks, whereas high dose zinc takes 9-12 to get copper to non toxic levels and 2 to 3 years to normalize it. Zinc must be taken on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after meals because food binds it up and renders it inactive. It's a primer for metallothionein protein in the intestinal cells that will absorb the copper. Every 8 days your intestinal cells turnover and new ones are made, and the old ones laden with copper and metallothionein go out the stool, then the process starts over again. Taking anti inflammatories for arthritis is just treating the symptoms of the problem and not dealing with the cause of it. Get the free copper down and you'll correct the problem.

(As an aside, I ate tumeric, daily, for over a decade with various dishes; it didn't prevent the osteoarthritis that developed in my right hip. What I've found best aids with joint pain management is keeping active with lots of walking, exercising, stretching, and a good diet that's not so inflammatory based.) Best, J.

I went to the nutrition store and they had a huge poster for a brand with a massive amount of curcumin, and I wound up buying that. It was like a miracle drug! (I can’t take Tylenol or Motrin, so I can’t compare. They certainly might be just as effective but the side effects are so toxic.) What I wound up doing a few months later was eliminating as much sugar from my diet as I could and that really eliminated the root cause of my joint pain so I stopped taking the expensive curcumin pills.

I have neuralgia on my right face and neck from a pinched nerve. I take no prescription to manage it, and this definitely helped. Studies have also shown it can increase blood flow or thin blood. So my theory is in addition to possible anti inflammatory from cucimoids, it might be helping by also increasing blood flow to the inflamed area which increase blood flow speeds healing.

I started using turmeric supplement some 3 years ago, 20 drops with slightly warm milk in the morning. It had a very positive effect in keeping my lungs clean against phlegm. Whilst i do have back and neck problems it did not improve these conditions.

Thank you both, excellent video as always! I started taking Turmeric years ago specifically for my arthritis. I read about it in a few health mags & also off a couple of arthritis websites. It's advertised alot over here in Britain now as an almost miracle supplement for all sorts of conditions. Even MDS which my hubby has.
I don't know if it helped me but I don't know what I would be like without taking it. The only time I had to stop taking it was when I was having my knee replacements done as it can interfere with inflammation or anaesthetic levels readouts? Can't remember which! I also started to use a capsicum rub on my knees which worked well. But BIG warning do not use before putting braces on your knees. My knees started to cook up to boiling point!! I had to keep splashing cold water on them to cool them down! Can laugh about it now but wasn't funny at the time!!! Be warned ⚠️
Thanks again both - love these videos x

I use it for cooking Indian and S.E. Asian dishes. The Whole Foods near my house usually has it in root form (looks like little ginger root) I make veg drinks in my vita-mix (raw kale, other dark greens, onion, 1/8-1/4 lemon with peel, ginger root, cilantro, cukes, etc) Sometimes some hot(ish) peppers.
I doubt that I'm getting enough tumeric/curcumin to make a different, but the drink itself is pretty powerful. Plenty of fiber. can mix several quarts at a time and refrigerate.
Having said all of that, I started taking CBD oil with curcumin and that has helped my joint (OA) pain, depression, anxiety, etc. Just had some bones in my hand fused and OA cleaned out yesterday, so I'm taking Norco for that acute pain and hope the CBD (plus diet and exercise) will reduce the need for Norco and/or OTC pain meds more quickly that previous post-op pain mgmt.

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and finds that typically "anti-inflammatory" foods actually create flare up and pain in her joints. These foods often contain salicylates which can cause adverse reactions in certain cases. So I would suggest it can in fact cause harm. That's a sample of 1 tho so purely anecdotal. And I'm not sure of the science but RA being an auto-immune disease may have something to do with this response.

Perhaps it is a placebo effect however, I was dealing with a constantly aching knee and elbow. About 2 years ago I found a concoction on youtube using Tumeric and I thought I have nothing to lose so I gave it a go. Well, 2 years later of taking it every morning I'm back
running and lifting weights with absolutely no pain. If you want to give it a go - and it does taste good!
    1 cup of water
    1 apple
    2 teaspoons turmeric
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    pinch of cayenne pepper

I take Xarelto for clots but I read somewhere that you shouldn’t take Turmeric if you take blood thinners. So with that said, I have a really painful right foot and ankle that’s not in the heel and the pain even goes into the big toe. I asked the podiatrist if it’s gout and he said it wasn’t. So I’m trying to google what the heck is causing such pain. It really hurts when I walk and even when laying in bed. I’ve tried anti inflammatory creams but nothing works. He said I have Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction. I just can’t figure out why it would hurt while laying down.

Hi Tom. So yes turmeric can interact with blood thinners. With PT dysfunction most of it is with weight bearing and can lead to losing your arch. Usually start with orthotics. Best of luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing if you did

I served 28 yeas in the military and was over-prescribed ibuprofen to treat just about everything. I now have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) stage 3a. I can no longer take NSAIDs but have arthritis. He recommended “Organic Arthritis” which has turmeric and other natural ingredients in a pill form. Has worked very well for me, especially if I take it twice daily and let it build up in my blood. Not quite the same as being sore and taking a Motrin, but it does work.

Hi H C. Both doctors eat a majority plant based diet but Dr Zalzal does like his chicken wings. Best advice is to start slowly. Gradually reduce consumption of meat and dairy. Add more whole foods that are plants. Don’t be afraid of carbs. Stick to whole grains so no white bread rice or pasta. Use lots of spices. There are tonnes is helpful RUclips cooks. I've taken Liposomal Curcumin for inflammation/pain and it seems to take the edge off of the pain from arthritis. I've done my own experiments, a couple of months on and off and have found it does work. BUT, I have also found that certain brands makes a huge difference. There's one by Manna, that works pretty good, but is quite expensive. By contrast there is a lessor expensive one by 2by4, and it is both less expensive and also doesn't work as well. Either one won't eliminate inflammation or pain from arthritis, but does help a little. And both taste kinda like apricots. I've taken both straight - but in the directions they both say you can mix it in with food.

Point of clarification. No oral medicine improves any joint deficiency! The purpose of tuRmeric is reduction of inflammation! The original NSAID probably would not survive a modern safety study. When I was in medical school in the 70's. aspirin was the standard for treating fever. Then along came Reyes Syndrome. Then low dose aspirin was the gold standard for preventing heart attack and stroke. Other NSAIDs are toxic to my old kidneys.
I NEVER wrote PRN treatment for fever. I ordered regular medication for the pain and other miscomfort. I was "amused" when hearing about "break through fevers" on rounds. The fever "broke through" when the PRN medication FOR the fever wore off!
Another side note paracetemol is a leading cause of suicide deaths in the world (in the US it is known as acetominophen typical brand name TYLENOL)

    • @TalkingWithDocs
      @TalkingWithDocs  3 года назад +1

Hi JAY. So yes the goal is pain and inflammation reduction. No new cartilage. With respect to acetaminophen do you mean it is the most commonly used medication to try and commit suicide? If so we would agree and this is likely related to its availability in almost every home. Thanks for watching and subscribing

    • @jaytibbles2223
      @jaytibbles2223 3 года назад

@@TalkingWithDocs yes paracetamol is a common suicide agent. Good thing we have mucomyst (n-acetylcystine). Unfortunately, I have had to order it many times for documented overdose situations. The sad part is the false recovery phase of the poisoning.
