Thank you for this, I truly appreciate it. I've got all 5 symptoms but still working & I have no intention of retiring just yet. My general health is good but my knee pain is badly affecting my quality of life. I've got an appointment with consultant in 4 weeks.
Over last three years I've tried physiotherapy, swimming, tai chi, yoga, pain programs, all to no avail. My right hip now hurts when I'm asleep & I've got lconstant ower back pain due to the abnormal walking gait. I'm ready for knee replacement. I'm 61

'Thanks for the video. Are you familiar with the Iovera procedure? I understand it's supposed to help those with knee arthritis who choose not to have surgery deal with it better. My surgeon recommended it for me two weeks before my knee replacement, as it is supposed to help with pain management after surgery.

Hi Will. I have been on the waiting list for a TKR for about a year and am at the point of having to decide whether to go through with the actual op now. Out of your 5 pointers, I am only really bothered by knee locking. I also have stiffness rather than actual pain and I struggle to stretch the knee out fully. I can walk a reasonable distance but need to strap my knee up with tape every day to support it. I don't need painkillers at the moment but have used them in the past. Am worried that if I turn an op down now, if my knee gets worse - say in 6 months time, I will lose my place in the NHS queue and have to wait again but with worse symptoms. Have had physio, injections, acupuncture and an arthroscopy. Is it ever too soon to have the op?

Thank you for the video Will. Unfortunately, I am at five for five. One additional to the pain at night would be, pain is so bad that you can't get to sleep. Some nights, there is absolutely no sleeping position that is not accompanied by severe pain.

Excellent episode, thank you. I don't quite know how it ended up as a suggestion on my list, but that's Skynet for ya, I guess. Keep up the good work.

Im 37 years old i have had 7 clean outs on my right knee. I hurt everyday no matter what i do. When i lay down if my leg gets straight when im sleeping i wake uo screaming in pain when i go to roll over why im sleeping. And that part on sleeping is gradually getting worse where it does it between 1 to 2 times a night. It gets to where im scared to fall into a deep sleel because i dont want to have that excruciating pain and stiffness that wakes you up out of a dead sleep. I my knee gives way around 3x a day especially after trying to climb at work.

With everything you're going through if you have been to an orthopedic doctor, I can't imagine him not suggesting a knee replacement. You're too young to suffer like this when it's something that is fixable, and you have your whole life ahead of you. I am bone on bone in one knee because of a horrible meniscus tear. I am getting by right now with Hyaluronic acid jell shots. It won't fix the problem but is just buying some time. I don't know if that might work in your situation? I wish you the best of luck.💯
