    Thank you so much for this video!! I'm 72 and was disabled at 50 with chronic pain from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety and depression. I was told this week that I need to have a total knee replacement to solve my pain! I was also told this 4 years ago! But with therapy I found on RUclips, at first from Bob and Brad, and with cutting out processed foods, carbs, and sugar, I have done really great with the arthritis and bone on bone situation in my knee!! I had a couple of falls recently and so I was scheduled for physical therapy for my ankles, calves and quads, and after a couple of weeks of that, my knee flared up again!! You mentioned the quads, but said first you have to help the flexibility of the knee!! I really think this will help me!! God bless you for ALL the great videos i have watched of you helping people over 50!! I really appreciate you!! ❤🙏🙏

    Enjoy your videos but do want to say that some people may confuse knee arthritis with total cartilage wear. In my case both knees were classified bone on bone many years ago. If your meniscus is pretty much shot or your cartilage has deteriorated to a huge degree, no exercise will improve functionality very much. Total knee replacement is drastic but is sometimes necessary. My advice is to avoid replacement but accept that it might be required.

      @maradall Месяц назад +4

      Also, in many cases (including for me) the inflammation in the joint is primary. I first developed arthritis in my hands, and was able to watch it progress. If the inflammation doesn't stop (and I do seem to have been able to halt it for many of my finger joints) then the bone becomes deformed, and after that the joint stiffens and loses its full range of movement. No amount of exercise will help, at that point. My right hip got to that stage, and I did have a hip replacement. But I am hoping to avoid a knee replacement, since that is likely to be less satisfactory.

      @@maradallglad you are seeing success. I'm 72 and was disabled at 50 with chronic pain from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety and depression. I was told 4 years ago that I needed a total knee replacement, but with therapy from RUclips, and changing my diet, I have put off the knee replacement and shoulder replacement and my 6th spinal fusion!! I went keto 3 years ago and then stricter to carnivore, and my inflammation is so much better! Pain is minimal, anxiety and depression are gone, no longer type 2 diabetic, fatty liver is gone, and I am now off 8 of my 11 long term prescriptions!! Feeling better than I have in over 25 years!!! God bless you in your health journey!!

      @@maradall how did you halt inflammation in your finger joint?

    • @maradall
      @maradall 22 дня назад

      @@janjenkinson1829 I'm not entirely certain, as I was doing a number of anti-inflammatory things (including low carb diet, even keto). I tried all the supplements and strategies that I came across, but the one that seemed to be most helpful was boswelia.
      There is research evidence showing that this inhibits the inflammatory pathway in the synovial fluid, and the first time I tried it, there was quite a dramatic improvement. (Then I got a flare-up in another of my finger joints, and it didn't seem to work as noticeably - but that flare-up too has subsided, so maybe there has been some cumulative & more subtle benefit.)

    I am not a physiotherapist and I do not understand his theory, but I am certain that you could understand and evaluate .
    I have a lot of confidence in your expertise and I would be happy to know your point of view on his theory.I read your letter very friday with pleasure.

      I'm in the same spot you are in Jean Paul! Well done on mentioning it. Sending you here a copy of what I wrote to Dr. David Middaugh at El Paso Manual:
      Dear Dr. David, The other day I heard a PT from England tell people to strengthen their guads. He is excellent. He is reliable. But word has to get around about your treatment Dr. David. Someone else noticed this and left the following comment for Dr. Will Harlow.
      Jean Paul wrote "Another American physiotherapist strongly advises "do not strengthen your quads " to treat knee arthritis. According to him it is a big mistake, He made many videos on that subject., The latest video "brutally honest advice to avoid knee replacement" El Paso Manual physiotherapist." The title of Dr. Will's video is = Avoid Knee Surgery with This Proven Strategy (50+)

    Hello Dr Furlan, I have someone who suffered a major TBI in June of this year. We’re in October and she still struggles to walk, her speech is slow, in her words “I can’t process new information” (but she remembers, much better than me, things we did 20 years ago) We have a great NHS team that has worked with her since she was able to leave hospital. I would like to know if you consider this kind of trauma (because we are now starting rehab) nociplastic, nociceptive or neuropathic? Your nociplastic videos have helped me immensely with Fibromyalgia, thank you. Now we want to start the process of “rewiring her brain” because her next Neuro consult is only in Jan 2025. Thank you Dr Furlan

    I avoid the knee pain and knee surgery by doing squatting exercise with holding dumbbell at front of my chest. I go down by keep my back straight and chest up and bring your knees forward at the same line of my toe tip without a chair. Every rep, I move down for three seconds and move up for another 3 seconds. This my legs strong and my knees strong

    I had meniscus surgery 1.5 years ago, still swollen, pain, catching, ciicking, etc. I had a follow up MRI which shows bone marrow edema which I now know was present in the presurgery MRI. The surgeon never mentioned this and I feel that the meniscus surgery was useless and the real problem all along was the edema. Your thoughts?
