I theoretically knew about the sun and the sky, the ambient light, the reflected light and the theories of highlights and shadows, but the way you explained it with the local colour, mixing the sun and sky colours with it, and adjusting the brightness on the classic scale, in real time made so much sense and I bet will help a lot of artists out there. Thank you for making this amazing tutorial!
Yeah before I made the video I was the same. Theoretically I knew the elements but couldn’t put them in practice, and didn’t truly understand them. i had to challenge myself to rethink everything put it all together and explain back. Still a lot more to learn. Understanding the color wheel was a big aha moment. Thank you for watching!
This is the first tutorial I have ever come across in my entire life that actually explains how to find the correct colours for light and shadow. And you explained it really well. Thanks so much for this, I feel my art knowledge went up by leaps and bounds.
The fact that you are giving us this knowledge for free practically feels illegal!! You deserve so many more subs. Thanks for this beautiful tutorial. I’ve never seen anyone do an in-depth tutorial and I’ve been looking for something like this for years!!
Thank you for creating these videos. I think they’re very helpful and thank you for very breaking things down a lot in detail color and lighting a scene very well. I really enjoy now.😊😊😊😊😊🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Amazing video just found you, just a quick one about the sign. It wouldn't have light on it as it is facing away from the light source, it might be slightly lighter with reflected light but not as bright. Love your videos.
There’s an option to colour fill selection in Procreate which automatically fills the selected area without having to select and then manually colour fill the area. It’s a minor step but it helps save time in the long run
This is so awesome 😭cuz i was struggling about colors even tho I understand now the value but somehow i don't know how to choose the right color for the shadow and light, thankful for yt for recommending your video!!🤧✨ Also, thank you for sharing this!!!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I am so grateful to be able to watch your video, you make things simple to understand and I learned so much more about coloring!
Thank you so much for sharing your time and gift. This video was very helpful. QQ, why did you choose to Alpha Lock some layers and Cliiping Mask others? I am still having a hard time understanding why/when you would use one over the other.
I can’t explain it fully here as there is it depends on what you’re drawing and your style, but generally - use clipping mask if what you’re drawing is complex enough to warrant another layer for organisation. But if it’s just a small change alpha lock should do.
About the bikes you are often allowed to take folding bikes on the buss. And about distance I'm biking 25km to get to work 😊 so if you bike more you will be stronger. 😊
@@jaywalkerpictures That was unfortunate I was answering on a other utuber and yutube switched to your video the exact moment I pressed send. 😅 With that said I found this video super helpful.❤️ Im trying to learn digital art with procreate at the moment. And I like your art a lot. It is simple and and very advanced at the same time. 👌🏻💪🏻
Really great tutorial!! I’ve been trying to import the tut to procreate but it doesn’t have the option to do so. It keeps going to a zip file, do you know if there is another way I could get it?
I chose these by intuition. But as a general rule, the level of saturation depends on your sky colours, time of day and whether it's cloudy or not. More cloudy less saturated and visa versa. Hmm, I actually need to do an entire video series on this...
Ahh sorry about that the video was getting crazy long. But a big mistake is to highlight everything making things fluorescent. Instead think of highlights as the absence of shadow revealing local color (so technically the highlights are already there)
This is amazing, but is there a way to get those files for another app? I'm running on a samsung, so it would be nice to have it, even if it's just the jpg. Cheers!

Hey this was amazing and so comprehensive, I am wondering how do you remove the black lines to make that beautiful unlined artwork
It was a messy process, a lot of flattening and painting over layers. Will try to simplify and do a video on it in future... Thanks for watching :)

How do you choose your local colors? Are they fully saturated colors?
