      Yes, because Jabs is a great lead, and Rudolf is even better but few people know it because he chooses to be the best ever rhthym guitarist. But if you listen to any of their power ballads you know Rudolf plays about 90% of the solos on those. They are the kings of the power ballad because of that.

      They been together for now 42 years and will release a new album this coming year. One of the longest reigning. If you want hard rock and metal just listen to Scorpions. They’re my favorite duo with Judas Priest in second.

Rudolph with Michael got the sound going, Uli stepped in after Michael went to UFO, and brought them up a notch with a little harsher and flamboyant sound (just listen to Hellcat), then adding Mathias after Uli left just brought a whole new level to the Scorpions and a world wide status making them legends.

      Yeah,tho I'd say the most well-rounded duo of all rock history is Tipton and Downing, I mean they played almost all styles of rock guitar approach in existence and played it fucking well. Now that I think about it it blows my mind. I don't Maiden duo could replicate that,much less lesser talent like the Metallica tandem. Even good duos like Slayer's or Megadeth's wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to play rock blues or commercial metal, much less be able to transition smoothly between styles. Slayer's transition of NWOBHM to proto-Black Death Thrash Metal was good but they weren't particularly great as more melodic players than as chaotic forces of nature when playing evil thrash afterwards. And Mustaine attempts at commercial never went smoothly, there was always off about them... Tipton and Downing fucking rules!

Opening track, “Had to Cry Today,” and the second acoustic workout, “Can’t Find My Way Home,” puts Eric Clapton (Guitar: Left Channel) and Steve Winwood (Guitar: Right Channel) a close second. Again, my opinion.

      And like they are on a lot of these lists, they are completely wrong. With Friedman and Mustaine, Metallica could not compare to Megadeth. Hetfield is, by far, the weakest of the four guitarists these bands employed during their heydays. Then add the fact that both Dave and Marty are better than Kirk Hammett. Metallica is great, don’t get me wrong, but their guitar work is just not as good as Megadeth. Now vocals, that is a different story.

      +Mason Taylor a list without lennon/harrison is non sense, those guys not only made full use of having two guitar players in a rock band, which was pretty much unheard of at the time, but they made the electric guitar popular again, if rock bands today use electric guitars, they can thank the beatles

    Nr.2 Allman/Betts is waay too low;
    Nr.1 No mention of Peter Green/Danny Kirwan.

      mojo probably doesn't know there was a Fleetwood Mac before 1975, so there's no way they would know Peter, Danny or Jeremy for that matter.

    Gary Rossington and Allen Collins should be in the top 3

      It was really more Allen Collins and Ed King, or Allen Collins and Steve Gaines, Rossington was mainly the rhythm guitarist

      chrisjaybecker Not even close to being true. The leads were pretty evenly split up. And Rossington
      plays a mean slide guitar.

      +nmlss Beg to differ. Can't stand the vocal style of At The Drive-In. Musicianship is obviously great in both bands, but I also very much prefer Progressive Rock over Punk.

      R0DisG0D I love prog rock bangs, but The Mars Volta are a bit too boring for me. They make their songs unnecessarily long and add pretty much nothing.

    Keith Richards and Ron Wood are great together. But nothing can compare to Keith and Mick Taylor. The best combination of pure rhythm and lead guitar. Taylor's rich and melodic works and a vibrato that is unmatched in rock music and Richard's raw and driving swagger created the great synergy that catapulted the Stones to the Greatest Rock n Roll band of all time.

    Nothing compares to the guitar threesome of Maiden. Adrian takes a break. Says he wants to come back. Maiden is like, yeah but we already got two guitarists, and Janick is good. Screw it, let's make it three. Best decision they ever made.

      If you like trios, it is a different style, but Molly Hatchett knows how the use three guitars.
