It wasn't an easy list to do, but I'm glad of all of their entries, including the honourable mentions ! Of course, WM might have had made an entire list of Queen's songs, as they're all rock anthems !
The #BruceSpringsteen song #BornintheUSA was released 30 years ago today. It's often considered one of the greatest songs ever. Would you agree? Here is our list of the top 10 #rock anthems.
WatchMojo.com Springteen sucks seriously he is not that talented and his music is not that great singing (yelling) #BornintheUSA over and over and over and over again doesn't require a lot of talent.
My list: 10. I Love Rock and Roll - Joan Jett and whatever the crap the name of her band is 9. Back in Black - AC/DC 8. Pride (In the Name of Love) - U2 7. Rockin in the Free World - Neil Young 6. Beat It - Michael Jackson 5. All You Need is Love - The Beatles 4. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen 3. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin 2. Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf 1. We Are the Champions - Queen
Your list, Professor Mercury, is good but (the big hint something is coming,) I am a little old school and while I love Brian Johnson, I love Bon Scott more. I also agree with Terry II that Beat It is more pop than rock. Joan Jett's band is the Blackhearts. A song I would have liked to see on WM/s list would have been Renegade. I was so over DDY early on. There are many others, but limited to 10 makes it difficult.
Professor Mercury I love Michael, but he is more of a pop artist. If any Michael Jackson song should've been added, it's "Dirty Diana" (especially live) or "Give In To Me" that was recorded with Slash.
Jeanette Meyer Yeah, AC/DC is hard rock. And now that I've decided to stop being an idiot, I think that Whole Lotta Rosie has an equally good (or even better) riff.
Professor Mercury You are so kind to respond. So, as is my style, I would like to suggest (if you haven't seen it) is to specify Bon Scott and type in "Highway to Hell." Not for the song, such a classic but because it is subtitled because his accent is so thick. My mother was born in Japan and I so miss the sound of her voice. Accents are now precious sounding to me. Smiles!
Carry on my wayward son,Stairway to heaven and sweet home alabama MUST BE at least on honorable mentions. I know, rock music is so great that you can't even imagine doing a top 10 without missing amazing songs. Agreed on 8 out of 10 songs.
Carry on Wayward Son is more progressive and not that anthemic, Stairway is not an anthemic song AT ALL and if you say Stairway to Heaven you've probably never heard of any other Zeppelin song, and lastly, Sweet Home Alabama is more Southern rock and isn't anthemic enough either. The anthemic part of it would be "sweeet hooommee Alabama" which isn't anthemic at all. Plenty of other ones would've been better like You Give Love a Bad Name, or something like that
1. Queen - We Will Rock You 2. Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven 3. The Who - Baba O Reilly 4. AC/DC - Highway To Hell 5. Aerosmith - Dream On 6. Bruce Springsteen - Born In the USA 7. U2 - Under The Blue Sky 8. Twisted Sister - Were Not Gonna Take It 9. Tom Petty - Wont Back Down 10. GNR - Welcome To The Jungle
+★Ziggy Stardust★ Sadly, many of Bowie's songs were not high on the charts. His music was not always that appreciated, at the time. Watch Mojo tends to only do songs, that topped the charts. Bowie influenced so many bands, that they put in these videos, but he doesn't always get much recognition. In the end though, Bowie was not doing it for the praise, he did it, because he loved to create music. That is one more lesson, many "artists" could learn from him.
Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You should be top 3 imo, you just can't not sing along with them. But I guess Mojo never put multiple songs by one band into one list huh ;) Hey Jude also should've been there. Na Na Na Nananana~~~ Nananana~~~ Hey Jude!

***** hell yeah, I got a friend who doesn't know who sung We will Rock You. One classmates turned around and said their the guys who sung We will Rock You, she was puzzled. God, everyone knows that song just they don't know that it's Queen.
QueenKick 1414 right. and anytime anyone can start stamping twice and clapping ones and soon classrooms, universities, cafeterias, playgrounds will explode. A agree. I like We are the champions more, when hearing. But for We will rock you you don't even need an instrument or a CD/Radio/Video/Vinyl or whatever to start the party.
QueenKick 1414 true. I remember how boys in my class used to stamp their feet and clap the motive of We Will Rock You. By the way, I'm 23 and I'm European. I guess it says something about the popularity of Queen to these days
Black Snow My favorite band of all time is Led Zeppelin and Kashmir got honorable mention but I don't really think they made any "anthems", you don't hear "Poor Tom" at any sports games.
+Crazy “Sameul Shreedhar” Duck It is a rock anthem. An anthem is anything that can be repeatedly played. Sure, many of these songs are sung along to a lot. But stairway is EXCLUSIVELY a song that guitarists start out playing. Does only singing count for an anthem? I think not. If guitarists' anthem songs are to be counted, Stairway and Smoke on the water are anthemic for sure.
+Crazy “Sameul Shreedhar” Duck it is rock if it is not than what about "every rose has its thorn" by poison or "wind of change" by scropion or you know what can you define the genre "rock".
Just 2 things, honorable mentions better than the whole top ten but the first spot, and thats indeed the second thing great pick by choosing Queen, i wish people knew how important is that band to the world and the greatness of freddy mercury, undoubtly the greatest rock singer of all freaking time. !!

+EhS Suanes amen brother. they will live for ever
How can We Will Rock You not be number 1? It's an iconic anthem. Everyone knows it.
I LOVE THIS HONESTLY I WAS GOING ON EVERYTHING AND QUEEN IS LETTERALY FIRST IN EVERYTHING.
As long as Queen tops the list, it's a good rock list!
As if anything else could top the list
If Queen doesn't top the list, there's usually been a mistake.
Lol guys are u forgetting Led Zeppelin or what .
Bon Jovi, GNR, Nirvana, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Meat Loaf, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin:
Am I a joke to you?
Shut up
When my son was in elementary school he came home all excited, that they had done the "Stomping Song", when i asked him was it "We Will Rock You" he said I don't know but everybody knows it, even added a "duh"
there is no argument about why #1 is We Will Rock You.
WatchMojo should do a video about the greatest epics of all time, and on that list should be Kashmir by Led Zeppelin, The End by The Doors, Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd, Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Do You Feel Like We Do by Peter Frampton, Hotel California by the Eagles, Bat Out of Hell by Meatloaf, I'm Your Captain by Grand Funk Railroad, Turn the Page by Bob Seger, and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen... and other songs like them.
Angel Deville I totally agree😃😄😄😄😄😄😄😉😃😃😃😃😄😄
you can add Child In Time by Deep Purple to that list as well
2112 by Rush
Kashmir sucks
I actually think Somebody To Love is a tad more epic than Bohemian Rhapsody but that's me
I knew it would be We Will Rock You! Good job Brian you made a really good song.
1: Queen - We Will Rock You
2: The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again
3: Aerosmith - Dream On
4: The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction
5: Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
Honourable mentions:
Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
CCR - Fortunate Son
The Beatles - Hey Jude
The Angels - Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?
Tom Petty - Free Falling
Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall Part 2
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
Slade - Come On Feel The Noise
Alice Cooper - Schools Out
Free - All Right Now
Nice list! :) I love the Slade!
Am I Ever Going to See Your Face Again instead of Marseilles? Give me the sound of the rolling dice every time.
*Baba O'Reilly is #10* Me: This better be a good list
Cameron Naim amen to that 👿
Cameron Naim it should be in first place
Its already the best possible list
On god
no kidding that i could change with joan jett easily :)
Bruce's Philadelphia song is awesome ;)
Born in the USA if you listen to it is not a patriotic theme. It puts down America.
Of course in America it is considered one of the greatest rock songs ever... not in the rest of the world. Altough it is a good song..
I hate his voice
WatchMojo.com Springteen sucks seriously he is not that talented and his music is not that great singing (yelling) #BornintheUSA over and over and over and over again doesn't require a lot of talent.
queen and journey in the same top 10? I can die a happy man!!!
Yes mojo fredd the best now and years to come thanks queen love you fredd 😘 always
My list:
10. I Love Rock and Roll - Joan Jett and whatever the crap the name of her band is
9. Back in Black - AC/DC
8. Pride (In the Name of Love) - U2
7. Rockin in the Free World - Neil Young
6. Beat It - Michael Jackson
5. All You Need is Love - The Beatles
4. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
3. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
2. Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
Professor Mercury Back in Black is classed has hard rock
Plenty of other ones would've been better like You Give Love a Bad Name, or something like that
1. Queen - We Will Rock You
2. Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
3. The Who - Baba O Reilly
4. AC/DC - Highway To Hell
5. Aerosmith - Dream On
6. Bruce Springsteen - Born In the USA
7. U2 - Under The Blue Sky
8. Twisted Sister - Were Not Gonna Take It
9. Tom Petty - Wont Back Down
10. GNR - Welcome To The Jungle
I love how everyone has their their own opinion about how this list should be , let they all agree about one thing . WHERE THE FUCK IS LED ZEPPELIN???
Kashmir a honourable mention ... I call bullshit
Where the hell is stairway to heaven?!
Babooshka is a Killjoy that's what I was thinking but Stairway isn't much of an anthem..that's the problem.
Yeah
+Adwaith „The Beer“ Praveen Led Zeppelin is Hard Rock
No one ever has David Bowie on any on their 'Best Songs' list
Too easy and predictable maybe? I mean, it'd just be unfair to the competition. x3
what would you say is his best song
Colter Adamson Well one of his most famous is 'Space Oddity', but my personal favorite is 'Life On Mars?'
+★Ziggy Stardust★ HURT
+★Ziggy Stardust★ Sadly, many of Bowie's songs were not high on the charts. His music was not always that appreciated, at the time. Watch Mojo tends to only do songs, that topped the charts. Bowie influenced so many bands, that they put in these videos, but he doesn't always get much recognition. In the end though, Bowie was not doing it for the praise, he did it, because he loved to create music. That is one more lesson, many "artists" could learn from him.
Kids today have no idea how powerful music was before video games and cell phones. There were fewer distractions back then.
Aside from where Don't Stop Believing is on this list, I have no issues with it.
***** I'm not gonna say U2 sucks, cause I like them. Though Sunday Bloody Sunday should've been on this list(though lower) than the one they did have.
they put The WALL in honnorable mentions
Pfffft, Top 10 Rock Anthems might as well be Top 10 Queen Songs
Agree :D
Lol true
Yessssss
100% accurate
Queen on always top 🔝
With
A stomp
A claps
And
A solo 🎸
Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You should be top 3 imo, you just can't not sing along with them. But I guess Mojo never put multiple songs by one band into one list huh ;)
Hey Jude also should've been there. Na Na Na Nananana~~~ Nananana~~~ Hey Jude!
Molun mister Ian Fraser Kilmister loves the Beatles.check his "LEMMY" Doku.
Agreed!!
Dont forget another one bites the dust and show must go on
Hey jude isn't a rock anthem tho
@@michalsemko5572 if you don't sing along to Another one bites the dust, you are dead from within
Livin on a Prayer? Not even an honorable mention?
on hard rock list
Hard Rock list.
WatchMojo.com Living on a prayer, hard rock?
.
+Riley I think WM saved that one for their top 10 Hard Rock Anthems list
Come On Feel The Noize ,Quiet Riot & Jump by Van Halen
Kashmir is an honorable mention? I would have to disagree. #Zepplin
Plant can't sing for shit these days
Jake Deane Sadly true, but Celebration Day WAS awesome
ye it was
ZeppElin
you can, but it is not your list.
This list is pretty decent, but I think Dream On by Aerosmith deserves a spot on this list too.
yeah it does, IDK why Don't Stop Believin made it on, Aerosmith should be there.
My top 10
1.ace of spades-motorhead
2.Welcome to the jungle-gun n roses
3.highway to hell-acdc
4.bohemian-queen
5.let it be-the beatles
6.i love rock n roll-joan jett
7.immigrant-led zeppelin
8.hail to the king-avenged sevenhold
9.we not gonna take it-twisted sister
10.livin on prayer-bon jovi
Freddie was the whole package, he could write songs and sing them, he was charismatic and sexy!
what about the beatles?
I can sing along to any Queen song trust me. Except the Show Must Go On (because its too high for me) and the Great Pretender(because I cry everytime I listen to it).
I had a feeling it might not be recognized on this list, but "Song 2" by Blur is definitely my favorite anthem.
I think it might count as hard rock, and tbh one of the requirements is easily sing-a-long-able lyrics, and all most people know is "Woohoo".
SnappyK9 Good point, although I think just the "woohoo" would count. In "We will rock you" most people just know the beat and chorus.
PwnTheInterwebs "Buddy, you're an old man poor man, pleading with your eyes gonna make you some peace some day, you got mud on your face, you big disgrace, somebody better put you back into your place".
Nah it's not the same, the words are clear and emphasized.
fuck yeah queen at #1
I don't have doubt which song is the best Rock Anthem ever I agree 100% We Will Rock You by the best ever band QUEEN
I would choose We are the Champions but Queen took the #1 spot
***** hell yeah, I got a friend who doesn't know who sung We will Rock You. One classmates turned around and said their the guys who sung We will Rock You, she was puzzled. God, everyone knows that song just they don't know that it's Queen.
QueenKick 1414
right. and anytime anyone can start stamping twice and clapping ones and soon classrooms, universities, cafeterias, playgrounds will explode. A agree. I like We are the champions more, when hearing. But for We will rock you you don't even need an instrument or a CD/Radio/Video/Vinyl or whatever to start the party.
Ari33sa Right!!!
???? wow. We are the Champions IS a Queen song.
QueenKick 1414 true. I remember how boys in my class used to stamp their feet and clap the motive of We Will Rock You. By the way, I'm 23 and I'm European. I guess it says something about the popularity of Queen to these days
No Elvis? No Beatles? No Doors? No Zeppelin? No Purple? NO AEROSMITH? Come on!
***** Same, jackass.
I know right that's the same thing I was thinking why is there no Elvis?!>:( :/
Black Snow At least they have The Rolling Stones.
Black Snow My favorite band of all time is Led Zeppelin and Kashmir got honorable mention but I don't really think they made any "anthems", you don't hear "Poor Tom" at any sports games.
+Kyle Cotton ummmm stairway to heaven?
I was just waiting for we will rock you
ROCK ON QUEEN!
Why no ones take in consideration Kashmir of Led Zeppelin? I'm the one who loves that song?
Elias Enarsson No it isn't, it uses an Orchestra for instrumental!
AX System THAT SONG SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 5!
+AX System you are not the only one who loves that song
Don't Stop Believing should have definitely been in the top 3
Just 2 things, honorable mentions better than the whole top ten but the first spot, and thats indeed the second thing great pick by choosing Queen, i wish people knew how important is that band to the world and the greatness of freddy mercury, undoubtly the greatest rock singer of all freaking time. !!
Was there any doubt for number 1?
Queen The Best !
No
@@6_22d"one can disagree with that" you missed writing that ;)
@@videl4390 One of the best 👍
@@6_22d you have a point there
Queen tops the list? Yes, good. Very good.
Switch Kashmir and I Love Rock and Roll and you've got a good list.
And switch out Born in the USA with Born to Run
Minshino Yeah. Exactly. I Love Rock and Roll was at number 2, and Kashmir was an Honorable Mention.
If queen wasn't in the list I would have been pissed
I’m pissed because they are - and so many better artists and songs are not.
lets face it if Queen wasn't even in the honourable mentions of any rock list then something is wrong
