Have you ever played Splinter Cell or even Skyrim? When you do a roll, you're silent. The invisible part could be because she is still in the darkness or not in the field of view of the enemies. Old games, had guards with really narrow but long views. And since it is a speedrun, the best route in which darkness and/or out of view have to be taken. That is my theory of all these.
@@deadspace4755 The part I am referring to is 18:03 where Lian runs in front of 3 MPs and they don't see her, when the level is designed to use the truck as cover. Agreed 100%! It totally deserves a remake like they did with the Resident Evil 2 and 3, crash bandicoot and other gems too. This game is pure nostalgic! Cheers from 🇧🇷
The trick is to let the guard see the pilot's body, and then leave from the hangar ASAP. The guard will despawn from radar before the actual alarm is triggered.
Cool, that happened to me in Hard mode. The airman next to the first truck saw me and I didn't fail, I was right in front of him, he was aiming his gun at me but I didn't fail the level. That was so weird
It's a skip glitch triggered earlier in the level ( 17:21 ). The game thinks alert is already on, so the guards can't trigger the alert again in that section of the level.

I 100% dead sure some time ago I read somewhere a discussion about a skip in Agency Bio Lab level where you completely ignore Data Uplink objective (here it's 58:52 - you just kill that scientist and run away) and I think it was you (or kopeekka) explaining that skipping the objective randomly caused the game to crash and that it was pure luck not to get a crash. Correct me if I'm wrong.
kopeekka here. My memory is a bit hazy but I think we found out that killing Gershon actually cancels the glitch, or at least lowers the chance of the game glitching once you find Chance.
We are doing the recording local, yes. It was very common before twitch times in speeddemosarchives to do segmented run with different people. For example first WR runs for Half Life 2 were made by at least 5 different people, and they weren't even doing it local. :) I personally find the skip discovering proccess and recording much more inspiring with a friend.
1:03:24 how?? :O one more question if i may, from the description i am assuming you are using some kind of emulator? If played on ps1, wouldnt be the framerate lower, making the speedrun slower?
In default emulation settings the framerate should be emulated like it would play on original playstation. However there's always been this kind of topics in speedrun communities, and I personally think there is no difference if you emulate a PAL version and compare it to the PAL version on ps1. Tho there are settings in emulators that may enable higher framerates even when the original console version normally "slows down" in speed, because of the framerate, and the "syncronation" with the low framerate parts of the game might run differently. But I haven't really searched much information about that. I just like to run and play. :) Our run is running with default settings except the scaled resolution for better video quality. Emulators seem take alot of GPU/CPU power to scale the resolution compared to the graphics that play, and I have always thought it's partly because the game needs to be syncronized with the original rom, kind of, so the speed of the game doesn't differ. If there's a difference, it's really unnoticeable. We played the past SF2 WR run with PAL version on playstation, and are quite familiar with the original feel. @@mistamontiel00 We were supposed to send the first run to SDA long ago as well (the one made with ps2). We had long forum conversations on SDA with all the runners for the series at that time. The hardest and most cryptic / random ones being Ajil prison break in stuff where you need to to pixel perfect movements and timings, that even we don't fully understand if they are perfectly causing the sequence breaks, but what we do know is that active AI and going on voice lines have combined memory limits that can lead the game not loading parts of the maps or AI's early enough so you can get skips happen in certain levels. In that particular level we used like 2 whole days retrying a 20sec long sequence over and over to the point we felt we are mentally losing it. With currently known skips, not possible. There's one new major sequence break that we've found since we made this speedrun that could save arounds 30 seconds.
To skip things yes: Main reason is that when you start the hanging animation just when cutscene starts, you can return to that location instead of getting to the fixed location that game wants you to be in after the cutscene. Sometimes it's enough to just hang, sometimes you need to be in the animation of climbing down for example, so it requires a bit more timing. You can also manipulate / break guard's AI with it at rare places.

@@lordkrythic6246 Hi! Sorry about not answering. Many ppl have asked about this. Like kopeekka already said, it's a glitch with alarm that triggers when he stops hanging on the box at 17:37. He basically follows the only guard at the radar until the guard almost despawns, before letting go of the ledge of the box. It's not too hard to execute but really cool find by kopeekka.
Okay I know this is an old video but how exactly did you snap to aim like you did. Am I right in assuming it's R1 to target then L1 to immediately go into free aim, since I know Logan's free aim height is headheight usually. I just always had issues with the sniper section in the first level trying to save the GI's
Can you give a timestamp? I know there's some kind of mechanic for making the manual aim sometimes "snap" to close to proper height (when enemies are not in the same platform as you) after doing exactly what you said, but I never got that to work constantly. Not sure what parts you are referring since there's nothing special going on with the end of the first level. (But yes, it's really hard to aim in that section. Pretty much a runkiller section in the first level) If I remember correctly, you can move the crosshair faster with analog sticks when needing to do those longer targetswitchs. It's been few years since I last played this game, so it might have also just felt to be the case. I also believe there's was a difference in aim movement speed with H11. At least it has different movement acceleration.
@@loopaddict2 I think my "Snap to aim" was more just a comment on being quick at what you do, might've been the wrong wording, I thought maybe there might've been some trick to it, because you do have nice aim on this game honestly. However in RE runs for example some dodges for example you are able to aim and then it aligns you perfectly. I thought there was maybe some trick to it like this for example that I was missing. Great video as well I would like to mention.
Thanks! There are few parts in the game where we do certain things to affect guards ability to see us, some of them explained here in comments as well. What exact moments do you mean? :)

i want a party in club 32) the sound is good!

These guards are blind. 🥵
I wonder under 1h would be possible?
With currently known skips, not possible. There's one new major sequence break that we've found since we made this speedrun that could save arounds 30 seconds.
They should make a remake of this franchise
Nice got my plat

Crazy stuff. I want to know how some of this works.
Why does he hang from boxes?
To skip things.
To skip things yes:
Main reason is that when you start the hanging animation just when cutscene starts, you can return to that location instead of getting to the fixed location that game wants you to be in after the cutscene.
Sometimes it's enough to just hang, sometimes you need to be in the animation of climbing down for example, so it requires a bit more timing.
You can also manipulate / break guard's AI with it at rare places.
@@loopaddict2 thanks for elaborating and actually answering the question and not just a dry statement

How are you not being detected? Especially at 18:40?
I see you hearted this, but I still want to know what's going on. How did you do that?
@@lordkrythic6246 Hey, kopeekka here. At 17:40 you can trigger the alarm without failing the mission. The dead pilot is spotted by a guard, but since I run away from the hangar exactly at the same time, the guard will despawn from radar, thus allowing me to continue with the mission with alarm triggered.
@@kopeekka
Interesting. Thank you.
Why they don’t see her?
Pretty much a runkiller section in the first level)
If I remember correctly, you can move the crosshair faster with analog sticks when needing to do those longer targetswitchs.
18:30 😂lol you kill Morgan before Logan did it.
They need to do a remake of these games with better Ai to make the remake a lot harder
This is impressive, how do you exploit the AI like that?
Thanks! There are few parts in the game where we do certain things to affect guards ability to see us, some of them explained here in comments as well. What exact moments do you mean? :)

Why does the voice actor yell so much this game and have a higher pitch? SF 1 Gabe > 2 and 3
Maybe John Chacon was getting more used to voicing Gabe.
