Yes, that's such a shit engine. I know people get all bunged up about it being a V10 but the reliability is terrible. BMW will have processes in place to test their engines in development and they should have done months of computer analysis beforehand, so how it became such a lemon was just due to them not bothering to fix the problems.
It really comes to something when your own Father asks to purchase a rare car from you that could be raffled off and wrapped around a tree in a week. And you say it's for the business. I do get having that business mindset and staying focused on your goals, but you'll easily make your small loss back in future raffles.
I had an 3.0l diesel e61 2004. It was the nicest to drive and enjoy but the reliability was beyond bad. Especially, watch out for the wiring loom in the rear door; when open and shut it breaks the wiring loom; you’ll have problems with alarm, lights, central locking, radio etc. There is an alarm circuit board under the rear window trim above the window, that can die. The suspension pump dies. The rear window opening switch dies. Mine was the diesel and the problems with the engine were verging on ridiculous. Hopefully your engine will be better. The turbos went etc…really bad. Loved driving and it and it felt so solid.

the modern turbocharged smaller displacement engined cars struggle to do 200mph in standard form as the compressor for the turbo is outside of its efficiency range with that high of a load. Combined that with heatsoak. Large displacement n/a gives 0 fucks and will keep climbing if physics allow it.
Biggest drawback for me was the Mpg. I'd see 15mpg on my V8 M3. Add in two more cylinders and man the fuel bill would break the average man. I love the car either way. Cheers
Vet little sounds better when eisman exhaust is on. Music teacher took me for a spinwhen i was a kid in one of these with the exhaust upgraded.. best lesson i ever had.
Traction control you have to hold the button in for so many seconds to turn it all off, I had e39 and my mate had that shape and he had to hold the button in

@K14RTP personally, I would as I have kids, so a big estate would suit me, and it's truly a classic car. Of course, the f80 is a great car in its own right, but for me, an M5 v10 is the ultimate M car.

The first M car estate was actually the E34 M5 touring. Great video though. An E61 M5 is the ultimate wagon 👌🏻

it wasn't the first M car estate - the previous generation M5 was available in a wagon (just not in the RHD in the UK)
it was the generation before the previous gen(e39) that was available as a touring.

Yes e46 was smg1 in the e60 it was updated and was called smg2, i had both and the e60 smg2 was alot better, and really suited the s85 engine
