- Brad Cohen is the epitome of what it means to overcome the kind of obstacles that would stop many people from pursing their dreams. Cohen, who has Tourette Syndrome, suffered a difficult childhood due to his unusual condition that attracted lots of unwanted attention from other students, and sometimes his teachers. But an accepting high school principal turned the school's perception of Cohen around, giving him the courage to eventually pursue a degree in education and become a teacher. His book, "Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had," was the basis for a movie about his life, made by the Hallmark Hall of Fame producers and aired on CBS. Today, Cohen is an assistant principal of an elementary school in Atlanta. He also channels much of his efforts into TS-related activities, serving as a TS camp coordinator, speaker, foundation director and board member on various advisory boards.

I just rewatched it for about the 5th time and still cried. I'm an assistant with special need kids and Mr. Cohen's story is very inspiring. It's good to see he's a principal or asst principal now. My hat is off to him!!!!
Just watched it too. Not many things reach me, but this did. I love the depth of awareness. It’s about inner acceptance. The outer acceptance doesn’t know where it’s going, but the inner acceptance knows it’s already there.
I cried like a baby with the film. I was terrible sad and depressed for one week because the kid in the film made an amazing performance and I couldn't stop thinking about. I can't imagine the hell it was for you Brad, being a child and doesn't have a clue how to deal with that everyday. Brad, you're amazing, I have no words to describe your fight and your strength. Just found out my little 5 year old has this very same tic as Mr. Cohen. At first I was getting on him but my wife has a masters in special education and realized very quickly what it was. I hope people don’t make fun of him. He is the sweetest boy I know.

Brad Cohen, you are great and a big inspiration to all the teachers around the world. For a teacher all students irrespective of their color, body type, intelligence, behavior etc will be same and equal. It was a nice feeling to me to watch your movie Front of the class.
I just discovered this kind man because of the movie "Front of the Class". I was inspired by the movie.
I loved this movie so much, I related a lot to Brad. I don’t have Tourette’s, but I have tics that embarrass me in public and in front of my family members. Teachers always scolded me for twitching too much, and other kids would mock me. Seeing Brad not let his Tourette’s win really inspired me, I actually thought for a minute, “maybe I could be like him!” This movie is one of the few hallmark movies that actually were emotional.
I have a tic disorder and my god I got many detentions because of my tics as I have cophilailia (which courses my tics to swear)I don't tic much it's just vocal tics btw
His speech is amazing and he did so well without making noises! Truly inspiring story!

Just like me. I had suffer from Broca's aphasia. I tried my best to speak up. I always get stammering and skipping words. I always get laugh at and calling me with bad names. Right now, I am the preschool teacher and I share with children from my wisdom that makes no difference who had disability and non disability at school or in the playground. Everybody deserves a chance to make a difference and accepting to be together without separating

Thank you for this video…Brad Cohen is the teacher I never had…i was diagnosed with a rare platelet condition and later in life (after I’ve learnt good English and gained better understanding of words meaning) I realized I’ve also got nerve disorder (sufferings of leg pain…that it’s painful regardless whether I’m walking, moving or somewhat stationary on bed) but back in schooling days I get laughed at when I couldn’t join P.E. classes and one teacher even asking me to stand up in front of the class and telling the whole class not to play with me as I’m sick (to avoid any possible complications) which is saddening (I get singled out thereafter) and I have no childhood…so my life is either going to school or other than staying at home indoors when not at school.
I grew up thinking teacher was actually just a job and they aren’t really interested to know what I’m experiencing or to help me further in getting my way in the society (I was 5yrs old when I’m conscious about my condition). But thankfully God works wonders in ways we can not see (at start of our life) that now I’m a full grown adult, having graduated from a good university and got myself a Degree and living the life as how normal people out there are…I may not have the childhood life of my dreams but I’ve lived on to tell a story : )
Hope this world will have more teachers with the likes of Brad Cohen…I am amazed and love his real life story…so motivating…and the adaptation into a movie (that first caught my attention and made me cried) and I salute to his determination and vision in life. ❤🎉All the best! He deserves to have a good life which I believe he’s probably having it as I type away here 😂 God bless us all!

my 9 year old nephew has tourettes. His new teacher wants him to sit in the corridor during school because of his tics. Shame on the irish school system where inclusion does not matter. Heartbreaking

Teachers are important. I had teachers who believed in me as well, having ADHD and dyslexia I was seen as dumb and naughty. One teacher believed in me and it was was my science teacher. Today I'm a cardiac physiologist and that teacher was one of the reasons why. !!!!
So inspirational testimony! I discovered today your excellent movie and now I feel new hope for my 12 year old kid with TS since 10. I just finished watching the movie “Front of the class”. You’re an inspiration.
I suffered from TS as well when I was a kid. I can't help myself squeezing nose and sometimes I do eyes blinking. not that annoying for others but...my parents were so ungry with me about that. especially my dad. like the one in movie. he just couldn't understand and thought that I did that on purpose. there's no cure for that. some of people get well naturally but others will not. no matter what result could be. the most important thing is never let it beat you and even make it as your motivation that drives you to success.
