Directed by Academy Award® nominee Paul Schrader based on his original screenplay, MASTER GARDENER follows Narvel Roth (award-winner Joel Edgerton), the meticulous horticulturist of Gracewood Gardens. He is as much devoted to tending the grounds of this beautiful and historic estate, to pandering to his employer, the wealthy dowager Mrs. Haverhill (three-time Academy Award® nominee Sigourney Weaver). When Mrs. Haverhill demands that he take on her wayward and troubled great-niece Maya (Quintessa Swindell) as a new apprentice, chaos enters Narvel’s spartan existence, unlocking dark secrets from a buried violent past that threaten them all.

Where's Joel Edgerton heading, I am too. He's so underrated and deserves more recognition for the works he does.
💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
Oh my gosh - WARRIOR. Bawled my eyes out 😭
my hubby said the same thing but I have no idea who he is. He asked if he has a brother in the industry. Sure he can Google but this is fun
@@carlastewart7519 I love Joel Edgerton as an actor, he’s Australian and so good in “It Comes at Night”, “Bright”, “Gringo”, “Smoking Aces”, “The Thing”, “The Gift”, “Warrior” and I’m so looking forward to “Master Gardner”👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
@RobOlivierbjr64 ok I know like 3 of those movies I must get these on my Watch list and check if the hubs has seen them..Thank you!!
"Better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war."
Better to be a master baiter than bait for the master
@@elrey8876 even BETTER to watch WARRIOR with Joel and Tom Hardy!

I thought it was just a gardener movie. I was hyped for a basic gardener movie 😐
yeah... kinda... because i'm just starting to get into mycology, myself haha

It’s a master gardener movie
@@suitcat3426 LOL
This is actually the true story of Monty Don
Can't wait Joel Edgerton is one of the most exciting actors making some of the best choices of characters. Love him and Schrader going full tilt
Joel Edgerton, Viggio Mortensen, and Mads Mikkelsen three incredibly underrated actors.
No they're not. Why do you say that?
Finally a gardener movie where the poor man tries to keep up his poor lifestyle by having a second job as a remover of unpleasant personalities. A movie for all the family!
"unpleasant" lmfao Sounds about...
Hello
The Michael Voris Show - The Four Last Things: Death by Church Militant.
How are you doing
Paul Schrader is famous for his family films.
Is there a scene with a guy writing at an empty desk? CHECK
Is there a scene with a guy looking in the mirror? CHECK
Must be a Paul Schrader film
Hello
Is William Hurt making a cameo...? 😏
He looks into/away at something in every movie.
Paul's past in philosophy and theology really comes through in most of his films haha
Haha was thinking
The exact same

@@CynAnne1William Hurt RIP
So, Mr. Scharder is back with another great film which would probably bomb on the box office.
New Paul Schrader movie is always a treat
Its ridiculously sad that Hollywood never found a superstar spot for Esai Morales. He has always been a phenomenal actor, no matter what role he played.
what are you talking about?..."No mi Richie, noooo!"
@deniss.6205 what are you talking about? Morales was OUTSTANDING in that role and others, but he's not considered an A list, leading man, Super-Star like Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt etc. My comment means, he was just as good as them talent wise, but his roles were much fewer.
You may not know his name but Anthony Quinn, was a phenomenal actor. Born of Mexican descent, but the academy award winning actor played white, Greek, Italian, Asian and of course Mexican roles. Hollywood found him a place. My opinion is that Morales is talented just like Quinn.
@@Hadasah777 lol, thank you for the wikipedia, i was just making a reference to one of his most famous roles in his career, in "La Bamba" he is the one who breaks the news that his brother Richie died on a plane crash, hence: " No mi Richie, noooo!". so to resume,Yes, he is a star in own way.

Mission Impossible
Omg this looks so good. Most gardeners I know, do it for the peace in this chaotic world, yet they typically are the most dangerous people in the world. Their gardens are their sanctuaries from this injust world. Never underestimate a master gardener. They have patience like no other.
lol typically the most dangerous people in the world? Where did you think that one up? Have you ever watched Gardeners World in the UK, it's filled with sleepy garden life, not ex killers. I am also a gardener (not a master gardener I hasten to add), and I'm definitely not dangerous. Riveted as to what gardeners you're meeting!
@Art By Emily Hare my friends were in the special forces, as well as my Dad. You would never know they packed heat, and would defend themselves in a heartbeat. They just don't advertise their gun skills like Kid Rock shooting at beer cans to prove their "manhood". They have been to war and seen how horrible it was/is. Gardening gives them a peace away from society. My European significant was the same way. In his mandatory military service, the top intelligent ones were set apart and trained in more survival skills/combat. Yet looking at him today, you would never know his skill set and we love our gardens/farming/simple life.
@@shannonsollman3509 aaah that explains it! yeah I can imagine after special forces it would be good to escape into the garden. Like Bob Ross and his softly spoken self, nobody would have known he was in the military! It made me laugh you saying that about gardeners because it sounds unlikely (especially from a UK perspective) but if you know so many military folk then that makes sense. Probably something to do with the difference between UK and USA perhaps, since most folks here wouldn't be packing heat anyway (gun laws are strict!).
@Art By Emily Hare yes most likely true. Yes when I think of British gardeners, I think of the sweet old ladies and gents on "Keeping Up Appearances"! As you know, America was founded from much violence, exactly why our culture/country is the way it is. That anger & hate/violence is embedded in the DNA here unfortunately.
@@shannonsollman3509 it's a sad thing the violence :( - we do of course have violence here too, but it's not the same. And yeah, keeping up appearances, that's a classic! An even older one than that would be 'the good life' - also very quiet and genteel, no guns ;)
i know it’s early, but i think this has a good chance of making paul schrader’s best of 2023 list
Turns out, you are right;)
I love Joel Edgerton. I'm looking forward to watching this.
joel edgerton always reminds me of an edgier (pun intended) conan o'brien
Lool it's those heavenly cheek bones.😂😂
A gardener is a great metaphor for someone who plants bodies
Paul Schrader knows how to write these films about loner dudes with violent streaks, that's for sure. From Taxi Driver decades ago to the masterpiece First Reformed with Ethan Hawke, now this. He's 78 and still doing his thing. Wild.
Can't wait. Gotta love Paul Schrader!
Looks like Taxi Driver in a garden. And The Card Counter was Taxi Diver in a casino. And First Reformed was Taxi Driver in a church. Get the picture?
Hello
I remember Joel as Hugo Croop in Smokin Aces, lol, that first movie was full of stars
finally a trailer! I loved this film at the Venice film festival. Imho it's not as good as First Reformed but better than Card Counter (highly personal opinion, ymmv.)
Great movie. Adult, thought-provoking, very well done.
Highly recommendable.
Schrader doing Schrader things. Cant fucking wait.
Seems like a worthy companion to Eastern Promises.
Oohhh I love Joel!!! I see everything he’s in! Can’t wait😊
Black Mass with Johnny Depp
Being There meets Green Room by way of a few Robert Bresson movies? Seriously though, no one does movies about solitary men better than Paul Schrader. And Robert Bresson.
Hello
Being There? Hahaha.
The acting an cast was great! Unfortunely the story i dont think was told well. schrader didnt flesh it out enough. It felt like a missed opportunity for something much better. There was enough originality and eggerton's performance with all his "un huh's" lol made me stay to finish it.
I really liked First Reformed, I'm excited for this.
Vai ser um filmaço! Joel Edgerton cada vez mais surpreendente em suas escolhas, e cada vez melhor.
And Esai Morales. Wonderful actor
Wow. Really miss this kinda moviemaking.
Budget $4.7 million ----------------------- Box office $626,449
schrader keeps making the same fucking movie over and over and im totally here for it
i cannot wait until May. greatest trailer.
I hooked up with our gadener once. His name is Pedro and he knows how to use his tools.
My friend and I really loved this movie!! It needs a sequel. I never say that .
He picks good films. I'll be watching.
He didn’t this time 💩
Dont waste your time !!!!!!! it started very promising and diluted step by step !!!!!!
Schrader cinema is back! Apparently not as good as First Reformed and Cards Counter, but he's still one of the GOATS
He's so strange
Looks incredible and prescient
I’m so so there!
Looks promising!
I am excited for the mulching scenes.
I love him in Kinky Boots!!! Following him via his films ever since.
This looks great!
This looks like my kind of movie. Joel Edgerton is ridiculously under rated.
it's woke.
Definitely will watch this one.
Highly recomended this movie...love the actor joel adgerton❤
This is the gardening version of a history of violence
Anything with "Bob" will be a great movie
Joel sounds like Ray Liotta in the intro. Rip Ray
Joel Edgerton doesn’t look like a gardener. He looks like a cross between John Wayne and Conan O’Brien
This guy has been in so many big movies
This looks really good!
huh, new schrader movie, is that why the algorithm's been giving me a bunch of First Reformed videos
Is it same person as one behind Hardcore and Taxi Driver? How would I like to watch full feature if trailer is so crap?
Looks like a great movie to watch
schrader is just cycling through all the different possible taxi drivers he can make
dont get me wrong, im here for it
Looks Brilliant 👏
They don’t make Gardener movies like they used to 😢
I'm so disappointed it's not a movie about gardening.
It's almost a parody and I'm here for it.
It's better to be a Warrior in a garden, than to be a Gardner in a war.
Become a beast, and learn how to control that beast.
Ok Jordan Peterson
Which wolf do we feed more...? 🤔
Looks great. I'm in.
Finally, the sequel to The Constant Gardener.
Those darn aphids can make ya crazy!

' ZEN - And the ART to Gardening '
Looks good
I watched this movie on a flight. I hate watching movies on flights especially good ones. As expected, Mr. Egerton and Ms. Weaver were phenomenal. Ms. Swindell was excellent and a vision. Ms. Swindell's role wasn't as demanding being a youth caught up in a complicated story. I enjoyed it. However, the ending puzzled me, but I suspect the version I saw edited out scenes and definitely cut out dialogue.
It is likely I will watch this movie again with a proper set up and I am certain it is complete. It is an uncomfortable watch at times.
This looks so much like card counter
Am I the only one who thought this was some sort of Sam Gamgee Lotr spin off with him as a gardener?
The Garden of Edgerton
The sequel is about fishing. It's called Master Baiter.
Yes
If they remake it in the UK, Tom Hardy would be perfect for this role...
Oh my
Master Gardener....more like Master Bater!
Getting strong “History of Violence” vibes here
This is in The Accountant verse right ?
Hey
I was kinda hoping this was movie actually about gardening.
oh, so now he has the budget to show the violence
Can't go wrong with a Sigourney Weaver.
