- Randall Boggs is the one of the two main antagonists of Disney•Pixar's 2001 animated film Monsters, Inc.. Snide and vindictive, Randall is notoriously envious of James P. Sullivan, the most beloved scarer in Monstropolis. To make his mark on the world while simultaneously stealing Sullivan's spotlight, Randall plots to "revolutionize" the scaring industry using conspiratorial means that involves kidnapping human children.
Monsters at Work is an American animated sitcom developed by Bobs Gannaway that premiered on Disney+ on July 7, 2021, as part of Pixar's Monsters, Inc. franchise.
Based on, and a direct continuation of Monsters, Inc., it features the voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman reprising their roles as Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan from the original film and the 2013 prequel Monsters University; several other voice actors from the films reprise their roles as guests.
Unlike other animated productions in the Monsters, Inc. franchise, Pixar did not produce the series, being instead produced by Disney Television Animation, the studio's second series to be based on a Pixar film after Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, on which Pixar served as a co-producer studio.
A second season premiered on April 5, 2024, on Disney Channel. The series received generally positive reviews from critics.

I liked how Randall got rescued in the human world because it canonically places Johnny as another monster capable of scaring adults
Yeah because the only monsters I can think of that did scare adults were Mike and Sulley in MU. I could be wrong though.
It's kinda not logical , if you follow monster academy Johnny did kick himself Randall from his scream team when he lose to sullivan in the final which mean Randall is nothing more than a tool to Johnny or he is using him again.

I gotta be honest, I was not expecting Randall to come back. And I thought the most shocking thing on this show was that Roger was Henry’s son!

The most shocking thing to me was not only the reveal of Roger, but also the reveal of Chet actually working for M.E.R.C. 😮😮😮That’s actually something no one would’ve ever expected from the series.

At this point, Randall's come back at least three times in the franchise-his escape that I think it was implied was Sid's doing in the old "Laugh Factory" comic from Boom, his return thanks to Vanitas in Kingdom Hearts III, and now officially with Monsters at Work. Add in the fact that he's naturally _purple,_ and...

You know, regardless of the show's quality, you can't deny that Randall plan actually makes a lot of sense. He's a veteran worker of the scaring children day of the factory, so his knowledge of the canisters functions and the building's layout has credence for all we know of him. Being rescued by a Roar Omega Roar colleague (the head of the group nonetheless) is also fitting, given that his turn to the dark side was by joining said brotherhood and ditching Oozma Kappa on Monster's University. They did their homework very well at the writing department.
Season 1 is better but at least this new season quickly got back on its feet

Since when was that ever implied. I’ve read the comics, I saw cutscenes of KH3, and I know what the cancelled Lost in Scaradise movie was about, and all of them kept bringing back Randell, implying that he was still alive after the original movie.

Well they can always recast Waternoose. They did it for Aku and Uncle Iroh by having Greg Baldwin take over those characters after Mako passed away.

Maybe he could finally get a taste of how the world's changed since he's been gone and, being on his own outside of anyone else's plans could give him a new perspective!
That or he keeps on being a villain, manipulating people in the shadows, or, maybe even breaking out waternoose and building his own group of henchmen to take over MI once and for all!
Either way just happy to see my boy back, he's been my favorite ever since I was a kid. M.U. made him so much more sympathetic for me, and cemented him as my favorite.

I looked on the Disney wiki and it turns out it is Steve Buscemi voicing him. It’s just that he sounds a little different. I guess it could be due to the fact that he is older now.

@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 Take it any way you want, but Randall was manipulated into thinking that joining ROR was the only way to get monsters to like and accept him the hard way, but when he made a mistake, he was of no further use to them and he realized that too late. He wasn't all petty at the end, he wasn't around to see Sully change from a jerk to a good friend which is what anger does, blinding someone's vision. So he did used to be innocent until he got caught with the wrong crowd.

Tbh, i think a third season would be a weirdmageddon thingy considering how randall boggs escaped the prison,
Here’s how i think would go:
A part: Randall would hire some monsters who followed his/waternoose’s beliefs and let alone be his henchmen
B part: he would continue sabotaging monsters inc alone like his methods eg, store the canisters energy and transfer it into fear co. and then put a false one to make it seem they’re still there.
C part: randall makes a machine which will he uses it to sabotage monsters inc or etc.

That’s all for the first half, think ima go with the second one
A part: same as the above one, however this is when if C part is canonically taken.
B part: his henchmen is helping him sabotage and do randall’s work for him, while he is sabotaging mike and sulley along with tylor
C part: With or without henchmen’s, he frees waternoose and johnny worthington and his team, and help them escape so they can continue their work on changing the laughters to scares (this would probably work if when they hire waternoose’s new voice actor)

And now after the second half, this is what’s the third one:
A part: (if they took the C part on second half) Waternoose and Randall along with Johnny plans out to take over and sabotage monsters inc and then hack the system.
B part (if C part from the first half or A part from the second half was taken): They built or completed the machine and then they use it to sabotage monsters inc along with mike and sulley.
C part: They went on and shutdown CDA secretly and then continue on with their plans.

Well it's is cannon to me in a way I mean maybe it was couple of days before the change of laughter were after and then in nighttime Mike and Sulley want to spend time with Boo in secret (because the CDA and Roz brought the door shredder to destroy Boo door and Mike illegally rebuilt Boo door so they can spend time together and they make sure that Boo door is in secret.
Randal was always a good villain and just when we thought he’d never return, we were hit by the winds of change.

But that don’t mean it’s canon to the lore
Remember that
Although Randall returning was really cool, I feel like the story writing was very lazy for his reveal. Johnny saving him from the swamp trailer doesn't make sense because he was disgusted with Randall after the Scare Games (and Randall doesn't make an appearance with ROR when they try to make Sullivan join again implying they probably kicked him out). Not only that, but how the heck would Johnny even know where Randall was? The only person who saw Randall being thrown into the door by Mike and Sulley was Boo.
A better story imho would've been Randall escaped the swamp and found another door back into the Monster World. He learns about the dangers of mixing laugh and scream energy by sneaking back into Monsters Inc. He then learns that Sullivan and Worthington, two monsters he would despise at this point in the story, are CEOs at Monsters Inc and Fear Co. So he sees this as a great opportunity to sabotage both companies by mixing their energy sources. Basically, he has gone rogue and wants to destroy those he believes did him wrong (actually this could potentially be a good plot for season 3).
I'm glad they brought back Randall but it was kind of a large reach with how they did it LOL.
Well the thing about the MU events is that they take place freshman year.
Mike and Sulley get kicked out at the end of the Scare Games. Unlike them, Randall does go through the whole scare program, likely in the time it takes Mike and Sulley to work their way up from the mailroom to a Scare Team. That’s at least a few years so he probably got back into their good graces- especially without Mike and Sulley there to upstage him.
As to how Johnny knew where he was- THAT does need explanation, especially cause no one witnessed that except for Boo. Maybe Johnny was in on Waternoose’s plan?
I wonder what he’ll do now that he’s free. Try to free Waternoose and Worthington? I’m guessing Fear Co got shut down too.

I knew Randall was behind the sabotage the moment Sully picture of Boo went missing, I mean who else knew about Sully relationship with Boo and had the motive to ruin monster Inc as part of some revenge plot against Sully and Mike, and was sneaky enough to pull it off, plus I had a feeling that he working with Johnny and framed Tylor to get him on their side, I just didn't know how he manage to escape the human world until now.
I had a strange feeling. But I didn’t want to believe it.

I keep saying they should have been keeping momentum since Encanto. But for the most part, they have not. And it’s mainly because of the two Bobs running the company.
There is no escape for Randall, he becomes Public Enemy number one, he is a toxic goblin with no sense of safety, for the first time ever, Randall Boggs being a terrorist has become public knowledge.
Especially after the monsters know about his previous crimes in the original film.
Most Wanted Monster
This could be a great build up to something tbh. Maybe either Mike tries to talk him down for once, and he starts to get doubts about what he's done leading up to a possible redemption.
Or, eventually starts getting through multiple near-misses and narrowly escapes getting caught up to the point where he decides to go out in a blaze of glory, getting himself killed trying to make one of his final plans actually work.
Or maybe he just continues being the usual "villain antagonist of the series", escaping at the end of every failed scheme.
There's plenty of ways they could go about this, especially since they're so adamant about sticking to the source material and staying in-character. I wonder where they plan to go from here, if they even have a plan.
I never though Randall would be back.
