The argument is that Fani Willis used her relationship to Wade to get "kickbacks" because he was paid a high amount for his contract. The idea being that she was using the case to make side money, which would be enough probably to remove her. But the amount Wade was paid wasn't unusual for the role, their relationship didn't affect their work on the case and their relationship seemed to begin AFTER they started working together. No money changed hands directly, just stuff they did together or gifts bought, regular dating stuff. There's nothing to it, but if it WAS true, it would be sufficient to have her removed.

I watched the entire hearing on the Fani Willis matter, heard from a (former) friend of hers who wasn't very convincing that she knew anything about the relationship, heard from Nathan Wade himself and Fani Willis herself. Wade and Willis were asked about when and where they had sex, totally unnecessary to ask, and about who paid for what and how they paid for each little thing. It was well explained by both Wade and Willis that Willis paid for herself in all instances and that one trip she paid all expenses out of her own money for his 50th birthday and his recent survival from cancer. Their relationship ended around the time of the indictments. Why? Because Wade wasn't all in on her insistence on being totally independent and wanting to always pay her own way. This hearing was the most ridiculously brought issue I've ever seen.

It's not unethical for people on the same team to be in a relationship. There are even lawyers who are married couples who work together on the same cases. You get conflicts of interest when they are on different sides of the trial.
It wouldn't sink the case, but when she signs off on his paychecks it is pretty bad looking. Especially when you consider this is the biggest case of her life, and she couldn't wait until after to try to date him.
It shouldn't be this big of an issue, but the GOP in Georgia wants a reason to get rid of her and delay long enough that they can place a prosecutor in her position who might throw the case for Donald.
What she did was wrong, don't whitewash it. She should answer for it but there's no rationale for it affecting Trump's trial.

I disagree with the idea that the judge has "lost credibility". Although the "clown show" has no merit or relevance to the real case the judge knows that if he ignores this issue and proceeds with the real case it could/will create a larger problem. Once these bozos are adjudicated as guilty many of them will appeal the verdict because they will contend that Ms Willis should have been removed from the case. Once this issue is resolved they not be able to appeal their convictions based on that flawed argument. The judge is creating an insurance policy for the larger case.

Every case he ruled on where the outcome was found in favour of his benefactors *should* be declared a result of influence, the ruling thrown out, and the cases tried again, while Judge Thomas is suspended from sitting, and forbidden from interaction of any kind with his co-workers, with being stripped of his position, disbarment, and a jail sentence as the outcome should he be found unable to do so.
