@@thegov5061 Kulu is so much better with space and options. He rarely finds it out wide which is why he doesn't look great out there most of the time. But villa were tired and left so many holes. That's why he thrived and that's also why he's always looked great in the middle where his positioning and workrate see him find more space and options

I am the eternally optimistic Spud. I said last week on a Vlog that were on the cusp of something incredible and was called delusional by some - shall we say - less optimistic (tired, jaded, beaten down) fans, but I believed from day 1 that we still had top four quality with Sonny, Richi, Romero, Bentancur and Kulu, Sarr & Perisic in our squad even without Harry… but with the addition of Udogie, VDV, Johnson & Maddison it was just a question of how quickly Postecoglou could get them to play his system.
YESTERDAY, we saw Angeball nearly… NEARLY… at its fluid best - reminiscent of Celtic/Yokohama/Brizzy Roar at their Treble winning heights.
Ange knows that despite what the opposition do, if his teams commit fully to his system, (high press, inverted full backs explosive transitions, quality finishing) they can’t live with us for 95+ mins. Yes, we will make errors and give away silly goals… (Villa first game, Wolves x2, Wet Spam, Arsenal pen and Own Goal) but mostly we will prevail and climb the table.
But I also believe that this is only the start. Next season, after his first summer window, Ange will get the squad even closer to his ideal profile AND increase its depth.
There will be more hiccups and it’s possible we might not make CL with the massive games we have coming up… but I don’t think we will lose any of them if we play our game… even Liverpool away. Probably draws - which won’t help the cause much.
I get called “Deluded” regularly because of my optimism… particularly by the LOB… but I prefer “Optimistic”. People can live their lives expecting disaster disaster and disappointment, but I prefer optimism. Nothing I’m seeing now makes me feel anything other than optimism… it’s a nicer place to live as a 62 year old Spud than in the hell of cynicism.
